Specifically, it started with commit 786d7e1612f0b0adb6046f19b906609e4fe8b1ba ("Fix rmmod/read/write races in /proc entries"). sock_owned_by_user should not be used without socket lock held. It seems to be a common practice to check .owned before lock reclassification, so provide a little help to abstract this check away.
