2014-09-24cpuset: PF_SPREAD_PAGE and PF_SPREAD_SLAB should be atomic flagsZefan Li1-3/+3
When we change cpuset.memory_spread_{page,slab}, cpuset will flip PF_SPREAD_{PAGE,SLAB} bit of tsk->flags for each task in that cpuset. This should be done using atomic bitops, but currently we don't, which is broken. Tetsuo reported a hard-to-reproduce kernel crash on RHEL6, which happened when one thread tried to clear PF_USED_MATH while at the same time another thread tried to flip PF_SPREAD_PAGE/PF_SPREAD_SLAB. They both operate on the same task. Here's the full report: https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/9/19/230 To fix this, we make PF_SPREAD_PAGE and PF_SPREAD_SLAB atomic flags. v4: - updated mm/slab.c. (Fengguang Wu) - updated Documentation. 2013-06-19sched: Rename sched.c as sched/core.c in comments and DocumentationViresh Kumar1-1/+1
Most of the stuff from kernel/sched.c was moved to kernel/sched/core.c long time back and the comments/Documentation never got updated. I figured it out when I was going through sched-domains.txt and so thought of fixing it globally. I haven't crossed check if the stuff that is referenced in sched/core.c by all these files is still present and hasn't changed as that wasn't the motive behind this patch. 2012-12-12cpuset: use N_MEMORY instead N_HIGH_MEMORYLai Jiangshan1-1/+1
N_HIGH_MEMORY stands for the nodes that has normal or high memory. N_MEMORY stands for the nodes that has any memory. The code here need to handle with the nodes which have memory, we should use N_MEMORY instead. 2011-06-15Documentation: update cgroupfs mount pointJörg Sommer1-14/+14
According to commit 676db4af0430 ("cgroupfs: create /sys/fs/cgroup to mount cgroupfs on") the canonical mountpoint for the cgroup filesystem is /sys/fs/cgroup. Hence, this should be used in the documentation. 2010-08-04Documentation: update broken web addresses.Justin P. Mattock1-1/+1
Below you will find an updated version from the original series bunching all patches into one big patch updating broken web addresses that are located in Documentation/* Some of the addresses date as far far back as 1995 etc... so searching became a bit difficult, the best way to deal with these is to use web.archive.org to locate these addresses that are outdated. Now there are also some addresses pointing to .spec files some are located, but some(after searching on the companies site)where still no where to be found. In this case I just changed the address to the company site this way the users can contact the company and they can locate them for the users. Signed-off-by: Justin P. 2009-06-30cpusets: document adding/removing cpus to cpuset elaboratelyNikanth Karthikesan1-0/+12
By writing a tasks's pid to the file, a process adds that task to that cgroup/cpuset. But to add a cpu/mem to a cpuset, the new list of cpus should be written to the cpuset.mems file which would replace the old list of cpus. Make this clearer in the documentation. 2009-02-20cpuset: various documentation fixes and updatesLi Zefan1-28/+37
I noticed the old commit 8f5aa26c75b7722e80c0c5c5bb833d41865d7019 ("cpusets: update_cpumask documentation fix") is not a complete fix, resulting in inconsistent paragraphs. This patch fixes it and does other fixes and updates: - s/migrate_all_tasks()/migrate_live_tasks()/ - describe more cpuset control files - s/cpumask_t/struct cpumask/ - document cpu hotplug and change of 'sched_relax_domain_level' may cause domain rebuild - document various ways to query and modify cpusets - the equivalent of "mount -t cpuset" is "mount -t cgroup -o cpuset, noprefix" Signed-off-by: Li Zefan <lizf@cn.fujitsu.com> Acked-by: Randy Dunlap <randy.dunlap@oracle.com> Cc: Paul Menage <menage@google.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
