2016-07-22Documentation: dt: i2c: use correct STMicroelectronics vendor prefixStefan Agner1-4/+4
The documentation currently uses the non-standard vendor prefix stm and st-micro for STMicroelectronics. The drivers do not specify the vendor prefixes since the I2C Core strips them away from the DT provided compatible string. Therefor, changing documentation and existing device trees does not have any impact on device detection. 2016-06-13i2c: Add generic support passing secondary devices addressesJean-Michel Hautbois1-0/+7
Some I2C devices have multiple addresses assigned, for example each address corresponding to a different internal register map page of the device. So far drivers which need support for this have handled this with a driver specific and non-generic implementation, e.g. passing the additional address via platform data. This patch provides a new helper function called i2c_new_secondary_device() which is intended to provide a generic way to get the secondary address as well as instantiate a struct i2c_client for the secondary address. The function expects a pointer to the primary i2c_client, a name for the secondary address and an optional default address. The name is used as a handle to specify which secondary address to get. The default address is used as a fallback in case no secondary address was explicitly specified. In case no secondary address and no default address were specified the function returns NULL. For now the function only supports look-up of the secondary address from devicetree, but it can be extended in the future to for example support board files and/or ACPI. 2016-05-15i2c: rcar: add DMA supportNiklas Söderlund1-0/+3
Make it possible to transfer i2c message buffers via DMA. Start/Stop/Sending_Slave_Address and some data is still handled using the old state machine, it is sending the bulk of the data that is done via DMA. The first byte of a transmission and the last two bytes of reception are sent/received using PIO. 2015-10-20i2c: davinci: Optimize clock generation on Keystone SoCAlexander Sverdlin1-3/+3
According to "KeyStone Architecture Inter-IC Control Bus User Guide", fixed additive part of frequency divisors (referred as "d" in the code and datasheet) always equals to 6, independent of module clock prescaler. module clock frequency master clock frequency = ---------------------- (ICCL + 6) + (ICCH + 6) It was not the case with original Davinci IP. Introduce new compatible property "ti,keystone-i2c", which triggers special handling in the driver. Without this change Keystone-based systems (having 204.8MHz input clock) choose prescaler 29 (PSC=28). Using d=5 in this case leads to bus bitrate ~353kHz instead of requested 400kHz. After correction, assuming d=6 bus rate is ~392kHz. This gives ~11% transfer rate increase. Tools * event-monitor - report unsupported events. We keep expanding what can come from drivers so give a helpful error if one turns up in an out of date userspace program. * generic-buffer - helpful message about needing to enable a channel to start the buffer.
2015-09-23iio: chemical: add SGX VZ89x VOC sensor supportMatt Ranostay1-0/+1

2015-09-23iio: mma8452: add support for MMA8453Q accelerometer chipMartin Kepplinger1-1/+0
This adds support for the 10 bit version if Freescale's accelerometers of this series. The datasheet is available at Freescale's website: http://cache.freescale.com/files/sensors/doc/data_sheet/MMA8453Q.pdf It creates a devicetree bindings file to document the new functionality and removes the driver from the trivial-devices list. 2015-08-26i2c: allow specifying separate wakeup interrupt in device treeDmitry Torokhov1-2/+14
Instead of having each i2c driver individually parse device tree data in case it or platform supports separate wakeup interrupt, and handle enabling and disabling wakeup interrupts in their power management routines, let's have i2c core do that for us. Platforms wishing to specify separate wakeup interrupt for the device should use named interrupt syntax in their DTSes: interrupt-parent = <&intc1>; interrupts = <5 0>, <6 0>; interrupt-names = "irq", "wakeup"; This patch is inspired by work done by Vignesh R <vigneshr@ti.com> for pixcir_i2c_ts driver. Note that the original code tried to preserve any existing wakeup settings from userspace but was not quite right in that regard: it would preserve wakeup flag set by userspace upon driver rebinding; but it would re-arm the wakeup flag if it was disabled by userspace. We think that resetting the flag upon re-binding the driver is proper behavior as the driver is responsible for setting up and handling wakeups. 2015-08-24i2c: lpc2k: add driverJoachim Eastwood1-0/+33
Add support for the I2C controller found on several NXP devices including LPC2xxx, LPC178x/7x and LPC18xx/43xx. The controller is implemented as a state machine and the driver act upon the state changes when the bus is accessed. The I2C controller supports master/slave operation, bus arbitration, programmable clock rate, and speeds up to 1 Mbit/s. 2015-08-24i2c: mux: Add register-based mux i2c-mux-regYork Sun1-0/+74
Based on i2c-mux-gpio driver, similarly the register-based mux switch from one bus to another by setting a single register. The register can be on PCIe bus, local bus, or any memory-mapped address. The endianness of such register can be specified in device tree if used, or in platform data.
