2014-04-06Documentation: i2c: improve section about flags mangling the protocolWolfram Sang1-15/+20
Sort the entries alphabetically. Make the introductory paragraph more precise. Skip useless 'Flag' introduction from the entries. Remove trailing white spaces from the file. Add missing I2C_M_STOP entry. Signed-off-by: Wolfram Sang <wsa@the-dreams.de>
2012-05-30i2c: Split I2C_M_NOSTART support out of I2C_FUNC_PROTOCOL_MANGLINGMark Brown1-1/+8
Since there are uses for I2C_M_NOSTART which are much more sensible and standard than most of the protocol mangling functionality (the main one being gather writes to devices where something like a register address needs to be inserted before a block of data) create a new I2C_FUNC_NOSTART for this feature and update all the users to use it. Also strengthen the disrecommendation of the protocol mangling while we're at it. In the case of regmap-i2c we remove the requirement for mangling as I2C_M_NOSTART is the only mangling feature which is being used. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
