2020-01-23media: Revert "media: staging/intel-ipu3: make imgu use fixed running mode"Bingbu Cao1-3/+3
This reverts commit e878742c83ec26ef256ebb6b36a4d44644548f25. Imgu should still keep the capability and flexibility to allow user to run 2 video pipes, as the user may use the video pipe to capture still frames with less system load and power than still pipe. 2020-01-04media: staging/intel-ipu3: make imgu use fixed running modeBingbu Cao1-3/+3
Currently, the imgu running mode need user to set by v4l2 ctrl. However, imgu only support 2 pipes and 2 operation modes - video and still. This patch make the first imgu subdev running as video and second one running as still, it will make the user understand easily, it can also cover current camera use cases requirement. The running mode is set during subdev registering, no race-condition after change, so it is safe to change the mode data type to integer. 2019-12-16media: vidioc-enum-fmt.rst: clarify format preferenceEzequiel Garcia1-1/+3
It has been decided to use the ENUM_FMT index value as a hint for driver preference. This is defined purposedly in a very liberal way, letting drivers define what "preference" means. For instance, the Hantro VPU driver indicates additional processing to output a given format, and thus implicates more CPU usage, which is enumerated after native (non-processed) formats. 2019-12-13media: vidioc-g-dv-timings.rst: fix wrong porchHans Verkuil1-1/+1
It is the vfrontporch of field 1 that is one half-line longer, not the backporch. The order of the vertical signals in an interlaced system is: Field 1: vsync vbackporch active video of field 1 vfrontporch + 0.5 Field 2: il_vsync il_vbackporch - 0.5 active video of field 2 il_vfrontporch Interlaced systems that use HALF_LINE set the il_ fields as follows: il_vfrontporch = vfrontporch il_vsync = vsync il_vbackporch = vbackporch + 1 So the total vertical blanking for field 1 is: vsync + vbackporch + vfrontporch + 0.5 and for field 2: vsync + vbackporch + 1 + vfrontporch - 0.5 == vsync + vbackporch + vfrontporch + 0.5 So each field has the same number of half-lines. 2019-10-24media: v4l: Add definitions for HEVC stateless decodingPaul Kocialkowski4-3/+580
This introduces the required definitions for HEVC decoding support with stateless VPUs. The controls associated to the HEVC slice format provide the required meta-data for decoding slices extracted from the bitstream. They are not exported to the public V4L2 API since reworking this API will likely be needed for covering various use-cases and new hardware. Multi-slice decoding is exposed as a valid decoding mode to match current H.264 support but it is not yet implemented. The interface comes with the following limitations: * No custom quantization matrices (scaling lists); * Support for a single temporal layer only; * No slice entry point offsets support; * No conformance window support; * No VUI parameters support; * No support for SPS extensions: range, multilayer, 3d, scc, 4 bits; * No support for PPS extensions: range, multilayer, 3d, scc, 4 bits. 2019-10-01media: uapi: h264: clarify num_ref_idx_l[01]_(default_)active fieldsPhilipp Zabel1-2/+4
Since the uapi does not contain the num_ref_idx_active_override_flag, drivers for decoders that do not parse slices themselves don't know how to choose between the num_ref_idx_l[01]_default_active and the num_ref_idx_l[01]_active override fields. Instead, userspace must set the override fields to the default values if the slice does not have the num_ref_idx_active_override flag set. The drivers will then always enable the override internally and ignore the default fields completely. Clarify this requirement in the API documentation. Otherwise it's pretty much lots of work across the board, i915 has started landing tigerlake support, lots of icelake fixes and lots of locking reworking for future gpu support, lots of header file rework (drmP.h is nearly gone), some old legacy hacks (DRM_WAIT_ON) have been put into the places they are needed. uapi: - content protection type property for HDCP core: - rework include dependencies - lots of drmP.h removals - link rate calculation robustness fix - make fb helper map only when required - add connector->DDC adapter link - DRM_WAIT_ON removed - drop DRM_AUTH usage from drivers dma-buf: - reservation object fence helper dma-fence: - shrink dma_fence struct - merge signal functions - store timestamps in dma_fence - selftests ttm: - embed drm_get_object struct into ttm_buffer_object - release_notify callback bridges: - sii902x - audio graph card support - tc358767 - aux data handling rework - ti-snd64dsi86 - debugfs support, DSI mode flags support panels: - Support for GiantPlus GPM940B0, Sharp LQ070Y3DG3B, Ortustech COM37H3M, Novatek NT39016, Sharp LS020B1DD01D, Raydium RM67191, Boe Himax8279d, Sharp LD-D5116Z01B - TI nspire, NEC NL8048HL11, LG Philips LB035Q02, Sharp LS037V7DW01, Sony ACX565AKM, Toppoly TD028TTEC1 Toppoly TD043MTEA1 i915: - Initial tigerlake platform support - Locking simplification work, general all over refactoring. - Selftests - HDCP debug info improvements - DSI properties - Icelake display PLL fixes, colorspace fixes, bandwidth fixes, DSI suspend/resume - GuC fixes - Perf fixes - ElkhartLake enablement - DP MST fixes - GVT - command parser enhancements amdgpu: - add wipe memory on release flag for buffer creation - Navi12/14 support (may be marked experimental) - Arcturus support - Renoir APU support - mclk DPM for Navi - DC display fixes - Raven scatter/gather support - RAS support for GFX - Navi12 + Arcturus power features - GPU reset for Picasso - smu11 i2c controller support amdkfd: - navi12/14 support - Arcturus support radeon: - kexec fix nouveau: - improved display color management - detect lack of GPU power cables vmwgfx: - evicition priority support - remove unused security feature msm: - msm8998 display support - better async commit support for cursor updates etnaviv: - per-process address space support - performance counter fixes - softpin support mcde: - DCS transfers fix exynos: - drmP.h cleanup lima: - reduce logging kirin: - misc clenaups komeda: - dual-link support - DT memory regions hisilicon: - misc fixes imx: - IPUv3 image converter fixes - 32-bit RGB V4L2 pixel format support ingenic: - more support for panel related cases mgag200: - cursor support fix panfrost: - export GPU features register to userspace - gpu heap allocations - per-fd address space support pl111: - CLD pads wiring support removed from DT rockchip: - rework to use DRM PSR helpers - fix bug in VOP_WIN_GET macro - DSI DT binding rework sun4i: - improve support for color encoding and range - DDC enabled GPIO tinydrm: - rework SPI support - improve MIPI-DBI support - moved to drm/tiny vkms: - rework CRC tracking dw-hdmi: - get_eld and i2s improvements gm12u320: - misc fixes meson: - global code cleanup - vpu feature detect omap: - alpha/pixel blend mode properties rcar-du: - misc fixes" * tag 'drm-next-2019-09-18' of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/drm/drm: (2112 commits) drm/nouveau/bar/gm20b: Avoid BAR1 teardown during init drm/nouveau: Fix ordering between TTM and GEM release drm/nouveau/prime: Extend DMA reservation object lock drm/nouveau: Fix fallout from reservation object rework drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: Don't create MSTMs for eDP connectors drm/i915: Use NOEVICT for first pass on attemping to pin a GGTT mmap drm/i915: to make vgpu ppgtt notificaiton as atomic operation drm/i915: Flush the existing fence before GGTT read/write drm/i915: Hold irq-off for the entire fake lock period drm/i915/gvt: update RING_START reg of vGPU when the context is submitted to i915 drm/i915/gvt: update vgpu workload head pointer correctly drm/mcde: Fix DSI transfers drm/msm: Use the correct dma_sync calls harder drm/msm: remove unlikely() from WARN_ON() conditions drm/msm/dsi: Fix return value check for clk_get_parent drm/msm: add atomic traces drm/msm/dpu: async commit support drm/msm: async commit support drm/msm: split power control from prepare/complete_commit drm/msm: add kms->flush_commit() ...
2019-08-19media: pixfmt-compressed.rst: improve H264/HEVC/MPEG1+2/VP8+9 documentationHans Verkuil1-6/+30
The existing documentation was incorrect and did not correspond to how actual codec drivers implemented this. Update the documentation to explicitly specify what is actually expected. 2019-08-19media: docs-rst: Document memory-to-memory video decoder interfaceTomasz Figa6-19/+1157
Due to complexity of the video decoding process, the V4L2 drivers of stateful decoder hardware require specific sequences of V4L2 API calls to be followed. These include capability enumeration, initialization, decoding, seek, pause, dynamic resolution change, drain and end of stream. Specifics of the above have been discussed during Media Workshops at LinuxCon Europe 2012 in Barcelona and then later Embedded Linux Conference Europe 2014 in Düsseldorf. The de facto Codec API that originated at those events was later implemented by the drivers we already have merged in mainline, such as s5p-mfc or coda. The only thing missing was the real specification included as a part of Linux Media documentation. Fix it now and document the decoder part of the Codec API. 2019-08-19media: videodev2.h: add V4L2_FMT_FLAG_DYN_RESOLUTIONMaxime Jourdan2-0/+9
Add an enum_fmt format flag to specifically tag coded formats where dynamic resolution switching is supported by the device. This is useful for some codec drivers that can support dynamic resolution switching for one or more of their listed coded formats. It allows userspace to know whether it should extract the video parameters itself, or if it can rely on the device to send V4L2_EVENT_SOURCE_CHANGE when such changes are detected. 2019-08-19media: videodev2.h: add V4L2_FMT_FLAG_CONTINUOUS_BYTESTREAMHans Verkuil2-0/+9
Add an enum_fmt format flag to specifically tag coded formats where full bytestream parsing is supported by the device. Some stateful decoders are capable of fully parsing a bytestream, but others require that userspace pre-parses the bytestream into frames or fields (see the corresponding pixelformat descriptions for details). If this flag is set, then this pre-parsing step is not required (but still possible, of course). 2019-08-19media: uapi: h264: Add the concept of start codeEzequiel Garcia2-2/+36
Stateless decoders have different expectations about the start code that is prepended on H264 slices. Add a menu control to express the supported start code types (including no start code). Drivers are allowed to support only one start code type, but they can support both too. Note that this is independent of the H264 decoding mode, which specifies the granularity of the decoding operations. Either in frame-based or slice-based mode, this new control will allow to define the start code expected on H264 slices. 2019-08-19media: uapi: h264: Add the concept of decoding modeBoris Brezillon2-3/+60
Some stateless decoders don't support per-slice decoding granularity (or at least not in a way that would make them efficient or easy to use). Expose a menu to control the supported decoding modes. Drivers are allowed to support only one decoding but they can support both too. To fully specify the decoding operation, we need to introduce a start_byte_offset, to indicate where slices start. 2019-08-19media: uapi: h264: Rename pixel formatEzequiel Garcia1-2/+2
The V4L2_PIX_FMT_H264_SLICE_RAW name was originally suggested because the pixel format would represent H264 slices without any start code. However, as we will now introduce a start code menu control, give the pixel format a more meaningful name, while it's still early enough to do so.
