2010-09-29pcmcia: use autoconfiguration feature for ioports and iomemDominik Brodowski1-0/+12
When CONF_AUTO_SET_IO or CONF_AUTO_SET_IOMEM are set, the corresponding fields in struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->resource[0,1,2] are set accordinly. Drivers wishing to override certain settings may do so in the callback function, but they no longer need to parse the CIS entries stored in cistpl_cftable_entry_t themselves. 2010-09-29pcmcia: convert pcmcia_request_configuration to pcmcia_enable_deviceDominik Brodowski1-0/+6
pcmcia_enable_device() now replaces pcmcia_request_configuration(). Instead of config_req_t, all necessary flags are either passed as a parameter to pcmcia_enable_device(), or (in rare circumstances) set in struct pcmcia_device -> flags. With the last remaining user of include/pcmcia/cs.h gone, remove all references. Instead of win_req_t, drivers are now requested to fill out struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->resource[2,3,4,5] for up to four iomem ranges. After a call to pcmcia_request_window(), the windows found there are reserved and may be used until pcmcia_release_window() is called. 2010-05-10pcmcia: re-work pcmcia_request_irq()Dominik Brodowski1-0/+10
Instead of the old pcmcia_request_irq() interface, drivers may now choose between: - calling request_irq/free_irq directly. Use the IRQ from *p_dev->irq. - use pcmcia_request_irq(p_dev, handler_t); the PCMCIA core will clean up automatically on calls to pcmcia_disable_device() or device ejection. - drivers still not capable of IRQF_SHARED (or not telling us so) may use the deprecated pcmcia_request_exclusive_irq() for the time being; they might receive a shared IRQ nonetheless. 2009-11-08pcmcia: add new CIS access helpersDominik Brodowski1-0/+7
As a replacement to pcmcia_get_{first,next}_tuple() and pcmcia_get_tuple_data(), three new -- and easier to use -- functions are added: - pcmcia_get_tuple() to get the very first CIS entry of one type. - pcmcia_loop_tuple() to loop over all CIS entries of one type. - pcmcia_get_mac_from_cis() to read out the hardware MAC address from CISTPL_FUNCE. Only a handful of drivers need these functions anyway, as most CIS access is already handled by pcmcia_loop_config(), which now shares the same backed (pccard_loop_tuple()) with pcmcia_loop_tuple(). By calling pcmcia_loop_config(), a pcmcia driver can iterate over all available configuration options. During a driver's probe() phase, one doesn't need to use pcmcia_get_{first,next}_tuple, pcmcia_get_tuple_data and pcmcia_parse_tuple directly in most if not all cases. 2008-08-12docsrc: build Documentation/ sourcesRandy Dunlap1-0/+10
Currently source files in the Documentation/ sub-dir can easily bit-rot since they are not generally buildable, either because they are hidden in text files or because there are no Makefile rules for them. This needs to be fixed so that the source files remain usable and good examples of code instead of bad examples. Add the ability to build source files that are in the Documentation/ dir. Add to Kconfig as "BUILD_DOCSRC" config symbol. Use "CONFIG_BUILD_DOCSRC=1 make ..." to build objects from the Documentation/ sources. Or enable BUILD_DOCSRC in the *config system. However, this symbol depends on HEADERS_CHECK since the header files need to be installed (for userspace builds). Built (using cross-tools) for x86-64, i386, alpha, ia64, sparc32, sparc64, powerpc, sh, m68k, & mips. 2007-05-07add new_id to PCMCIA driversBernhard Walle1-0/+30
PCI drivers have the new_id file in sysfs which allows new IDs to be added at runtime. The advantage is to avoid re-compilation of a driver that works for a new device, but it's ID table doesn't contain the new device. This mechanism is only meant for testing, after the driver has been tested successfully, the ID should be added in source code so that new revisions of the kernel automatically detect the device. The implementation follows the PCI implementation. The interface is documented in Documentation/pcmcia/driver.txt. Computations should be done in userspace, so the sysfs string contains the raw structure members for matching. 2006-06-30[PATCH] pcmcia: expose tool in pcmcia/Documentation/pcmcia/Randy Dunlap2-33/+35
Expose example and tool source files in the Documentation/ directory in their own files instead of being buried (almost hidden) in readme/txt files. This will make them more visible/usable to users who may need to use them, to developers who may need to test with them, and to janitors who would update them if they were more visible. Also, if any of these possibly should not be in the kernel tree at all, it will be clearer that they are here and we can discuss if they should be removed. Unify the EVENT_CARD_INSERTION and "attach" callbacks to one unified probe() callback. As all in-kernel drivers are changed to this new callback, there will be no temporary backwards-compatibility. Inside a probe() function, each driver _must_ set struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->instance and instance->handle correctly. Add some information useful for PCMCIA device driver authors to Documentation/pcmcia/, and reference it in dmesg in case of hash mismatches. Also add a reference to pcmciautils to Documentation/Changes. With recent changes, you don't need to concern yourself with pcmcia-cs even if you have PCMCIA hardware, so the example above the list needed to be adapted as well.
