2012-05-21Merge branch 'for-linus' of git://git.linaro.org/people/rmk/linux-armLinus Torvalds155-2452/+1358
Pull core ARM updates from Russell King: "This is the bulk of the core ARM updates for this merge window. Included in here is a different way to handle the VIVT cache flushing on context switch, which should allow scheduler folk to remove a special case in their core code. We have architectured timer support here, which is a set of timers specified by the ARM architecture for future SoCs. So we should see less variability in timer design going forward. The last big thing here is my cleanup to the way we handle PCI across ARM, fixing some oddities in some platforms which hadn't realised there was a way to deal with their private data already built in to our PCI backend. I've also removed support for the ARMv3 architecture; it hasn't worked properly for years so it seems pointless to keep it around." * 'for-linus' of git://git.linaro.org/people/rmk/linux-arm: (47 commits) ARM: PCI: remove per-pci_hw list of buses ARM: PCI: dove/kirkwood/mv78xx0: use sys->private_data ARM: PCI: provide a default bus scan implementation ARM: PCI: get rid of pci_std_swizzle() ARM: PCI: versatile: fix PCI interrupt setup ARM: PCI: integrator: use common PCI swizzle ARM: 7416/1: LPAE: Remove unused L_PTE_(BUFFERABLE|CACHEABLE) macros ARM: 7415/1: vfp: convert printk's to pr_*'s ARM: decompressor: avoid speculative prefetch from non-RAM areas ARM: Remove ARMv3 support from decompressor ARM: 7413/1: move read_{boot,persistent}_clock to the architecture level ARM: Remove support for ARMv3 ARM610 and ARM710 CPUs ARM: 7363/1: DEBUG_LL: limit early mapping to the minimum ARM: 7391/1: versatile: add some auxdata for device trees ARM: 7389/2: plat-versatile: modernize FPGA IRQ controller AMBA: get rid of last two uses of NO_IRQ ARM: 7408/1: cacheflush: return error to userspace when flushing syscall fails ARM: 7409/1: Do not call flush_cache_user_range with mmap_sem held ARM: 7404/1: cmpxchg64: use atomic64 and local64 routines for cmpxchg64 ARM: 7347/1: SCU: use cpu_logical_map for per-CPU low power mode ...
2012-05-21net: drop NET dependency from HAVE_BPF_JITSam Ravnborg1-1/+1
There is no point having the NET dependency on the select target, as it forces all users to depend on NET to tell they support BPF_JIT. Move the config option to the bottom of the file - this could be a nice place also for future "selectable" config symbols. Fix up all users to drop the dependency on NET now that it is not required to supress warnings for non-NET builds. 2012-05-17ARM: 7419/1: vfp: fix VFP flushing regression on sigreturn pathWill Deacon1-12/+2
Commit ff9a184c ("ARM: 7400/1: vfp: clear fpscr length and stride bits on entry to sig handler") flushes the VFP state prior to entering a signal handler so that a VFP operation inside the handler will trap and force a restore of ABI-compliant registers. Reflushing and disabling VFP on the sigreturn path is predicated on the saved thread state indicating that VFP was used by the handler -- however for SMP platforms this is only set on context-switch, making the check unreliable and causing VFP register corruption in userspace since the register values are not necessarily those restored from the sigframe. This patch unconditionally flushes the VFP state after a signal handler. Since we already perform the flush before the handler and the flushing itself happens lazily, the redundant flush when VFP is not used by the handler is essentially a nop. 2012-05-17ARM: 7418/1: LPAE: fix access flag setup in mem_type_tableVitaly Andrianov1-1/+2
A zero value for prot_sect in the memory types table implies that section mappings should never be created for the memory type in question. This is checked for in alloc_init_section(). With LPAE, we set a bit to mask access flag faults for kernel mappings. This breaks the aforementioned (!prot_sect) check in alloc_init_section(). This patch fixes this bug by first checking for a non-zero prot_sect before setting the PMD_SECT_AF flag. 2012-05-13ARM: PCI: provide a default bus scan implementationRussell King52-135/+61
Most PCI implementations perform simple root bus scanning. Rather than having each group of platforms provide a duplicated bus scan function, provide the PCI configuration ops structure via the hw_pci structure, and call the root bus scanning function from core ARM PCI code. Acked-by: Krzysztof Hałasa <khc@pm.waw.pl> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2012-05-13ARM: PCI: get rid of pci_std_swizzle()Russell King49-57/+16
Most PCI implementations use the standard PCI swizzle function, which handles the well defined behaviour of PCI-to-PCI bridges which can be found on cards (eg, four port ethernet cards.) Rather than having almost every platform specify the standard swizzle function, make this the default when no swizzle function is supplied. Therefore, a swizzle function only needs to be provided when there is something exceptional which needs to be handled. This gets rid of the swizzle initializer from 47 files, and leaves us with just two platforms specifying a swizzle function: ARM Integrator and Chalice CATS. Acked-by: Krzysztof Hałasa <khc@pm.waw.pl> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2012-05-13ARM: PCI: versatile: fix PCI interrupt setupRussell King1-4/+2
This is at odds with the documentation in the file; it says pin 1 on slots 24,25,26,27 map to IRQs 27,28,29,30, but the function will always be entered with slot=0 due to the lack of swizzle function. Fix this function to behave as the comments say, and use the standard PCI swizzle. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2012-05-13ARM: PCI: integrator: use common PCI swizzleRussell King1-14/+3
The Integrator swizzle function is almost the same as the standard PCI swizzle, except for an initial check for pin = 0. Make the integrator swizzle function a wrapper around the standard PCI swizzle function so we preseve this behaviour while using common code. Commit 069d4e743 ("ARM: EXYNOS4: Remove clock event timers using ARM private timers") removed support for local timers and forced to use MCT as event source. However MCT is not operating properly on early revision of EXYNOS4 SoCs. All UniversalC210 boards are based on it, so that commit broke support for it. 2012-05-12ARM: 7417/1: vfp: ensure preemption is disabled when enabling VFP accessWill Deacon1-4/+6
The vfp_enable function enables access to the VFP co-processor register space (cp10 and cp11) on the current CPU and must be called with preemption disabled. Unfortunately, the vfp_init late initcall does not disable preemption and can lead to an oops during boot if thread migration occurs at the wrong time and we end up attempting to access the FPSID on a CPU with VFP access disabled. This patch fixes the initcall to call vfp_enable from a non-preemptible context on each CPU and adds a BUG_ON(preemptible) to ensure that any similar problems are easily spotted in the future. 2012-05-10ARM: decompressor: avoid speculative prefetch from non-RAM areasRussell King1-11/+18
We setup identity MMU mappings across the entire 4GB of space, which are permissionless because the domain is set to manager. This unfortunately allows ARMv6 and later CPUs to speculatively prefetch from the entire address space, which can cause undesirable side effects if those regions contain devices. As we setup the mappings with read/write permission, we can switch the domain to client mode, and then use the XN bit for ARMv6 and above to control speculative prefetch to non-RAM areas. Commit 4e8ee7de227e3ab9a72040b448ad728c5428a042 (ARM: SMP: use idmap_pgd for mapping MMU enable during secondary booting) switched secondary boot to use idmap_pgd, which is initialized during early_initcall, instead of a page table initialized during __cpu_up. This causes idmap_pgd to contain the static mappings but be missing all dynamic mappings. If a console is registered that creates a dynamic mapping, the printk in secondary_start_kernel will trigger a data abort on the missing mapping before the exception handlers have been initialized, leading to a hang. Initial boot is not affected because no consoles have been registered, and resume is usually not affected because the offending console is suspended. Onlining a cpu with hotplug triggers the problem. A workaround is to the printk in secondary_start_kernel until after the page tables have been switched back to init_mm. 2012-05-06ARM: 7413/1: move read_{boot,persistent}_clock to the architecture levelMarc Zyngier4-4/+48
At the moment, read_persistent_clock is implemented at the platform level, which makes it impossible to compile these platforms in a single kernel. Implement these two functions at the architecture level, and provide a thin registration interface for both read_boot_clock and read_persistent_clock. The two affected platforms (OMAP and Tegra) are converted at the same time. 2012-05-05ARM: 7412/1: audit: use only AUDIT_ARCH_ARM regardless of endiannessWill Deacon1-7/+1
The machine endianness has no direct correspondence to the syscall ABI, so use only AUDIT_ARCH_ARM when identifying the ABI to the audit tools in userspace. Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Will Deacon <will.deacon@arm.com> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2012-05-05ARM: 7411/1: audit: fix treatment of saved ip register during syscall tracingWill Deacon1-8/+8
The ARM audit code incorrectly uses the saved application ip register value to infer syscall entry or exit. Additionally, the saved value will be clobbered if the current task is not being traced, which can lead to libc corruption if ip is live (apparently glibc uses it for the TLS pointer). This patch fixes the syscall tracing code so that the why parameter is used to infer the syscall direction and the saved ip is only updated if we know that we will be signalling a ptrace trap. 2012-05-05ARM: 7410/1: Add extra clobber registers for assembly in kernel_execveTim Bird1-1/+1
The inline assembly in kernel_execve() uses r8 and r9. Since this code sequence does not return, it usually doesn't matter if the register clobber list is accurate. However, I saw a case where a particular version of gcc used r8 as an intermediate for the value eventually passed to r9. Because r8 is used in the inline assembly, and not mentioned in the clobber list, r9 was set to an incorrect value. This resulted in a kernel panic on execution of the first user-space program in the system. r9 is used in ret_to_user as the thread_info pointer, and if it's wrong, bad things happen. 2012-05-05ARM: Remove support for ARMv3 ARM610 and ARM710 CPUsRussell King18-1414/+6
This patch removes support for ARMv3 CPUs, which haven't worked properly for quite some time (see the FIXME comment in arch/arm/mm/fault.c). The only V3 parts left is the cache model for ARMv3, which is needed for some odd reason by ARM740T CPUs, and being able to build with -march=armv3, which is required for the RiscPC platform due to its bus structure. 2012-05-04ARM: OMAP: Revert "ARM: OMAP: ctrl: Fix CONTROL_DSIPHY register fields"Archit Taneja1-4/+4
This reverts commit 46f8c3c7e95c0d30d95911e7975ddc4f93b3e237. The commit above swapped the DSI1_PPID and DSI2_PPID register fields in CONTROL_DSIPHY to be in sync with the newer public OMAP TRMs(after version V). With this commit, contention errors were reported on DSI lanes some OMAP4 SDPs. After probing the DSI lanes on OMAP4 SDP, it was seen that setting bits in the DSI2_PPID field was pulling up voltage on DSI1 lanes, and DSI1_PPID field was pulling up voltage on DSI2 lanes. This proves that the current version of OMAP4 TRM is incorrect, swap the position of register fields according to the older TRM versions as they were correct. 2012-05-04ARM: OMAP1: Amstrad Delta: Fix wrong IRQ base in FIQ handlerJanusz Krzysztofik1-1/+1
Commit 384ebe1c2849160d040df3e68634ec506f13d9ff, "gpio/omap: Add DT support to GPIO driver", introduced dynamic IRQ numbering of OMAP GPIO interrupts, breaking all IH_GPIO_BASE based IRQ number calculations. This issue was corrected in the OMAP GPIO driver and the related header file with commit 25db711df3258d125dc1209800317e5c0ef3c870, "gpio/omap: Fix IRQ handling for SPARSE_IRQ". However, the Amstrad Delta FIQ handler, which replaces the gpio-omap driver in serving GPIO interrupts on this board, still uses that outdated method. Fix it.
