2007-02-06[MIPS] Define MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE in generic headerAtsushi Nemoto1-3/+3
The irq_base for {mips,rm7k,rm9k}_cpu_irq_init() are constant on all platforms and are same value on most platforms (0 or 16, depends on CONFIG_I8259). Define them in asm-mips/mach-generic/irq.h and make them customizable. This will save a few cycle on each CPU interrupt. A good side effect is removing some dependencies to MALTA in generic SMTC code. Although MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE is customizable, this patch changes irq mappings on DDB5477, EMMA2RH and MIPS_SIM, since really customizing them might cause some header dependency problem and there seems no good reason to customize it. So currently only VR41XX is using custom MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE value, which is 0 regardless of CONFIG_I8259. Testing this patch on those platforms is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Since we already moved to GENERIC_TIME, we should implement alternatives of old do_gettimeoffset routines to get sub-jiffies resolution from gettimeofday(). This patch includes: * MIPS clocksource support (based on works by Manish Lachwani). * remove unused gettimeoffset routines and related codes. * remove unised 64bit do_div64_32(). * simplify mips_hpt_init. (no argument needed, __init tag) * simplify c0_hpt_timer_init. (no need to write to c0_count) * remove some hpt_init routines. * mips_hpt_mask variable to specify bitmask of hpt value. * convert jmr3927_do_gettimeoffset to jmr3927_hpt_read. * convert ip27_do_gettimeoffset to ip27_hpt_read. * convert bcm1480_do_gettimeoffset to bcm1480_hpt_read. * simplify sb1250 hpt functions. Historically plat_mem_setup did the entire platform initialization. This was rather impractical because it meant plat_mem_setup had to get away without any kind of memory allocator. Saves like 1,600 lines of code, is way easier to debug, compilers frequently do a better job than the cut and paste type of handlers many boards had. And finally having all the stuff done in a single place also means alot of bug potencial for the MT ASE is gone. 2006-02-27[MIPS] SMP: Fix initialization order bug.Ralf Baechle1-18/+6
A recent change requires cpu_possible_map to be initialized before smp_sched_init() but most MIPS platforms were initializing their processors in the prom_prepare_cpus callback of smp_prepare_cpus. The simple fix of calling prom_prepare_cpus from one of the earlier SMP initialization hooks doesn't work well either since IPIs may require init_IRQ() to have completed, so bit the bullet and split prom_prepare_cpus into two initialization functions, plat_smp_setup which is called early from setup_arch and plat_prepare_cpus called where prom_prepare_cpus used to be called. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
