2022-06-29powerpc: Restore CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO in defconfigsChristophe Leroy3-3/+3
Commit f9b3cd245784 ("Kconfig.debug: make DEBUG_INFO selectable from a choice") broke the selection of CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO by powerpc defconfigs. It is now necessary to select one of the three DEBUG_INFO_DWARF* options to get DEBUG_INFO enabled. Replace DEBUG_INFO=y by DEBUG_INFO_DWARF_TOOLCHAIN_DEFAULT=y in all defconfigs using the following command: sed -i s/DEBUG_INFO=y/DEBUG_INFO_DWARF_TOOLCHAIN_DEFAULT=y/g `git grep -l DEBUG_INFO arch/powerpc/configs/` Fixes: f9b3cd245784 ("Kconfig.debug: make DEBUG_INFO selectable from a choice") Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Christophe Leroy <christophe.leroy@csgroup.eu> Reviewed-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/98a4c2603bf9e4b776e219f5b8541d23aa24e854.1654930308.git.christophe.leroy@csgroup.eu
2020-01-31powerpc: configs: Cleanup old Kconfig optionsKrzysztof Kozlowski1-2/+0
CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATED is gone since commit 771c035372a0 ("deprecate the '__deprecated' attribute warnings entirely and for good"). CONFIG_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQ are gone since commit f382fb0bcef4 ("block: remove legacy IO schedulers"). The IOSCHED_DEADLINE was replaced by MQ_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and it will be now enabled by default (along with MQ_IOSCHED_KYBER). 2019-11-13powerpc/configs: remove obsolete CONFIG_INET_XFRM_MODE_* and CONFIG_INET6_XFRM_MODE_*YueHaibing1-3/+0
These Kconfig options has been removed in commit 4c145dce2601 ("xfrm: make xfrm modes builtin") So there is no point to keep it in defconfigs any longer. 2019-07-03powerpc/configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATHKrzysztof Kozlowski5-5/+0
Remove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because: 1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n', 2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). In commit a5e4bd991362 ("of_mdio: select fixed phy support unconditionally"), CONFIG_OF_MDIO began selecting CONFIG_FIXED_PHY. That means we no longer need to set it some of our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>

2015-01-20powerpc: Update all configs using savedefconfigMichael Ellerman5-88/+16
It looks like it's ~4 years since we updated some of these, so do a bulk update. Verified that the before and after generated configs are exactly the same. Which begs the question why update them? The answer is that it can be confusing when the stored defconfig drifts too far from the generated result. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2014-07-17tgt: defconfig cleanupBart Van Assche1-1/+0
Because of the removal of the scsi_tgt kernel module, the kbuild variables CONFIG_SCSI_TGT, CONFIG_SCSI_SRP_TGT_ATTRS and CONFIG_SCSI_FC_TGT_ATTRS are obsolete. This patch removes these variables. This patch is the result of the following command: find -name '*defconfig' | while read f; do grep -vwE 'CONFIG_SCSI_TGT|CONFIG_SCSI_SRP_TGT_ATTRS|CONFIG_SCSI_FC_TGT_ATTRS|CONFIG_SRP' $f >/tmp/t && mv /tmp/t $f; done Signed-off-by: Bart Van Assche <bvanassche@acm.org> Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Reviewed-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Hannes Reinecke <hare@suse.de>

2011-03-30powerpc: Restore some misc devices to our configsStephen Rothwell1-0/+1
Uwe Kleine-König reported: while working on an defconfig (arm/mx27) I noticed that just updating it[1] results in removing CONFIG_EEPROM_AT24=y. The reason is that since commit v2.6.36-5965-g5f2365d (misc devices: do not enable by default) MISC_DEVICES isn't enabled anymore by default. So all defconfigs that have CONFIG_SOME_SYMBOL=y (or =m) (with SOME_SYMBOL depending on MISC_DEVICES) but not CONFIG_MISC_DEVICES=y suffer from the same problem. This restores those misc devices to the powerpc defconfigs. 2011-01-20kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERTDavid Rientjes5-5/+5
The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than only small devices. This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc). Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they are making should enable it.
