2019-03-07configs: get rid of obsolete CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATEDAlexey Brodkin1-1/+0
This Kconfig option was removed during v4.19 development in commit 771c035372a0 ("deprecate the '__deprecated' attribute warnings entirely and for good") so there's no point to keep it in defconfigs any longer. FWIW defconfigs were patched with: --------------------------->8---------------------- find . -name *_defconfig -exec sed -i '/CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATED/d' {} \; --------------------------->8---------------------- Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/20190128152434.41969-1-abrodkin@synopsys.com Signed-off-by: Alexey Brodkin <abrodkin@synopsys.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2018-12-20powerpc/configs: Don't enable PPC_EARLY_DEBUG in defconfigsMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
This reverts the remains of commit b9ef7d6b11c1 ("powerpc: Update default configurations"). That commit was proceeded by a commit which added a config option to control use of BOOTX for early debug, ie. PPC_EARLY_DEBUG_BOOTX, and then the update of the defconfigs was intended to not change behaviour by then enabling the new config option. However enabling PPC_EARLY_DEBUG had other consequences, notably causing us to register the udbg console at the end of udbg_early_init(). This means on a system which doesn't have anything that BOOTX can use (most systems), we register the udbg console very early but the bootx code just throws everything away, meaning early boot messages are never printed to the console. What we want to happen is for the udbg console to only be registered later (from setup_arch()) once we've setup udbg_putc, and then all early boot messages will be replayed. 2018-01-25firmware: Drop FIRMWARE_IN_KERNEL Kconfig optionBenjamin Gilbert1-1/+0
It doesn't actually do anything. Merge its help text into EXTRA_FIRMWARE. Fixes: 5620a0d1aacd ("firmware: delete in-kernel firmware") Fixes: 0946b2fb38fd ("firmware: cleanup FIRMWARE_IN_KERNEL message") Signed-off-by: Benjamin Gilbert <benjamin.gilbert@coreos.com> Signed-off-by: Robin H. 2017-09-20powerpc/configs: Update for CONFIG_SND changesMichael Ellerman1-3/+4
Commit eb3b705aaed9 ("ALSA: Make CONFIG_SND_OSSEMUL user-selectable") means we need to set CONFIG_SND_OSSEMUL in our configs, otherwise we lose some of the SND symbols. And commit 0181307abc1d ("ALSA: seq: Reorganize kconfig and build") reorganised things, which causes the churn. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Drop removed CONFIG_USB_LEDMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
In commit a335aaf3125c ("usb: misc: remove outdated USB LED driver") CONFIG_USB_LED was removed, so drop it from our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Drop no longer selectable CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_LLMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
Since commit 76c4969fecb1 ("Bluetooth: hci_uart: fix kconfig dependency") we can no longer select CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_LL. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Switch CONFIG_USB_EHCI_FSL to =mMichael Ellerman1-1/+1
In commit ca07e1c1e4a6 ("drivers:usb:fsl:Make fsl ehci drv an independent driver module"), CONFIG_USB_EHCI_FSL was switched from built-in to modular. Update the defconfig. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_H4Michael Ellerman1-1/+0
Since commit 943cc592195e ("Bluetooth: bpa10x: Use h4_recv_buf helper for frame reassembly") we no longer need to set CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_H4 in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_SOCKETMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
Since commit 8db4c5be88f6 ("netfilter: move socket lookup infrastructure to nf_socket_ipv{4,6}.c") we no longer need to set CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_SOCKET in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Reinstate CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_STATMichael Ellerman1-1/+1
In commit 1aefc75b2449 ("cpufreq: stats: Make the stats code non-modular"), the CPU_FREQ_STAT code was made non-modular. Our defconfig still said =m though, which meant we no longer got the code at all. Switch the defconfig to =y. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_NF_CONNTRACK_PROC_COMPATMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
Since commit adf0516845bc ("netfilter: remove ip_conntrack* sysctl compat code") we no longer need to set CONFIG_NF_CONNTRACK_PROC_COMPAT in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Drop removed CONFIG_BLK_DEV_HDMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
In commit 8e14be53f470 ("remove the obsolete hd driver") the CONFIG_BLK_DEV_HD symbol was removed, so drop it from the defconfig. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Clean up duplicate CONFIG_EXT4 valuesMichael Ellerman1-2/+1
We had two values for CONFIG_EXT4, =m and =y, just use =y. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_TIMER_STATSMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
Since commit dfb4357da6dd ("time: Remove CONFIG_TIMER_STATS") we no longer need to set CONFIG_TIMER_STATS in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs/6xx: Turn CONFIG_DRM_RADEON back onMichael Ellerman1-1/+2
In commit d92d9c3a1448 ("drm: hide legacy drivers with CONFIG_DRM_LEGACY") CONFIG_DRM_RADEON was moved behind CONFIG_DRM_LEGACY meaning it stopped being enabled by ppc6xx_defconfig. Although no one has noticed, given this is basically a legacy platform, it seems anyone who is using it probably still wants this driver. So turn it back on for now. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_CRYPTO_GCMMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
Since commit 00b9cfa3ff38 ("mac80111: Add GCMP and GCMP-256 ciphers") we no longer need to set CONFIG_CRYPTO_GCM in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Update for CONFIG_NF_CT_PROTO_(SCTP|UDPLITE)=yMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
In commit a85406afeb3e ("netfilter: conntrack: built-in support for SCTP"), NF_CT_PROTO_SCTP switched from tristate to bool and became default y. Similarly in commit 9b91c96c5d1f ("netfilter: conntrack: built-in support for UDPlite"), NF_CT_PROTO_UDPLITE switched from tristate to bool and became default y. We had a few configs which set them to =m, which is no longer valid. We don't need to change them to =y because both symbols are default y and are enabled automatically based on the other symbols in the affected defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_DEVKMEMMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
Since commit e334cd69fa65 ("Move CONFIG_DEVKMEM default to n") we no longer need to set CONFIG_DEVKMEM in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Explicitly drop CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEVMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
In commit 73d8ef76006b ("Input: mousedev - stop offering PS/2 to userspace by default") (Jan 2017), CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEV was switched from default y to default n, with the explanation: Evdev interface has been available for many years and by now everyone is switched to using it, so let's stop offering /dev/input/mouseN and /dev/psaux by default. We had a number of configs which had it enabled, but going by the above explanation probably don't need it enabled anymore. So drop the last remnants of it from our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop unneeded CONFIG_CRYPTO_ANSI_CPRNGMichael Ellerman1-1/+0
Since commit 401e4238f35c ("crypto: rng - Make DRBG the default RNG") we no longer need to set CONFIG_CRYPTO_ANSI_CPRNG in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Update for symbol movement onlyMichael Ellerman1-12/+12
Update defconfigs for symbols that have moved around, without their value changing. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-04-10EDAC: Remove EDAC_MM_EDACBorislav Petkov1-2/+1
Move all the EDAC core functionality behind CONFIG_EDAC and get rid of that indirection. Update defconfigs which had it. While at it, fix dependencies such that EDAC depends on RAS for the tracepoints. 2017-02-03cpufreq: Remove CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_STAT_DETAILS config optionViresh Kumar1-1/+0
This doesn't have any benefit apart from saving a small amount of memory when it is disabled. The ifdef hackery in the code makes it dirty unnecessarily. Clean it up by removing the Kconfig option completely. Few defconfigs are also updated and CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_STAT_DETAILS is replaced with CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_STAT now in them, as users wanted stats to be enabled. 2016-11-14powerpc: convert ppc6xx_defconfig to use libata PATA driversBartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz1-8/+2
IDE subsystem has been deprecated since 2009 and the majority (if not all) of Linux distributions have switched to use libata for ATA support exclusively. However there are still some users (mostly old or/and embedded non-x86 systems) that have not converted from using IDE subsystem to libata PATA drivers. This doesn't seem to be good thing in the long-term for Linux as while there is less and less PATA systems left in use: * testing efforts are divided between two subsystems * having duplicate drivers for same hardware confuses users This patch converts ppc6xx_defconfig to use libata PATA drivers. It looks like it's ~4 years since we updated some of these, so do a bulk update. Verified that the before and after generated configs are exactly the same. Which begs the question why update them? 2013-10-28powerpc/6xx: CONFIG_MCU_MPC8349EMITX cannot be a moduleChristian Kujau1-1/+1
During "make ppc6xx_defconfig" the following happens: HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep GEN /usr/local/src/tmp/lnx/Makefile HOSTCC scripts/kconfig/conf.o HOSTCC scripts/kconfig/zconf.tab.o HOSTLD scripts/kconfig/conf arch/powerpc/configs/ppc6xx_defconfig:74:warning: symbol value 'm' invalid for MCU_MPC8349EMITX Setting CONFIG_MCU_MPC8349EMITX=y in ppc6xx_defconfig makes the warning go away. This too has been reported by Geert Uytterhoeven a long time ago: https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/11/13/11 - I only came across this because I needed a "clean" defconfig for this Powerbook G5. 2011-09-23gpio: move mpc8xxx/512x gpio driver to drivers/gpioWolfram Sang1-1/+1
Move the driver to the place where it is expected to be nowadays. Also rename its CONFIG-name to match the rest and adapt the defconfigs. Finally, move selection of REQUIRE_GPIOLIB or WANTS_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB to the platforms, because this option is per-platform and not per-driver. 2011-05-26cgroup: remove the ns_cgroupDaniel Lezcano1-1/+0
The ns_cgroup is an annoying cgroup at the namespace / cgroup frontier and leads to some problems: * cgroup creation is out-of-control * cgroup name can conflict when pids are looping * it is not possible to have a single process handling a lot of namespaces without falling in a exponential creation time * we may want to create a namespace without creating a cgroup The ns_cgroup was replaced by a compatibility flag 'clone_children', where a newly created cgroup will copy the parent cgroup values. The userspace has to manually create a cgroup and add a task to the 'tasks' file. This patch removes the ns_cgroup as suggested in the following thread: https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/containers/2009-June/018616.html The 'cgroup_clone' function is removed because it is no longer used. This is a userspace-visible change. Commit 45531757b45c ("cgroup: notify ns_cgroup deprecated") (merged into 2.6.27) caused the kernel to emit a printk warning users that the feature is planned for removal. Since that time we have heard from XXX users who were affected by this. Signed-off-by: Daniel Lezcano <daniel.lezcano@free.fr> Signed-off-by: Serge E. Hallyn <serge.hallyn@canonical.com> Cc: Eric W. 2011-03-30powerpc: Restore some misc devices to our configsStephen Rothwell1-0/+1
Uwe Kleine-König reported: while working on an defconfig (arm/mx27) I noticed that just updating it[1] results in removing CONFIG_EEPROM_AT24=y. The reason is that since commit v2.6.36-5965-g5f2365d (misc devices: do not enable by default) MISC_DEVICES isn't enabled anymore by default. So all defconfigs that have CONFIG_SOME_SYMBOL=y (or =m) (with SOME_SYMBOL depending on MISC_DEVICES) but not CONFIG_MISC_DEVICES=y suffer from the same problem. This restores those misc devices to the powerpc defconfigs. 2009-06-15i2c/chips: Move max6875 to drivers/misc/eepromWolfram Sang1-1/+1
This driver only reads the user EEPROM of that chip, so we can move it to the eeprom-directory in order to further clean up (and later remove) drivers/i2c/chips. The Kconfig text was updated to match the current functionality, dropping the meanwhile obsoleted parts. Defconfigs have been adapted.
