2011-12-29procfs: do not confuse jiffies with cputime64_tAndreas Schwab1-0/+2
Commit 2a95ea6c0d129b4 ("procfs: do not overflow get_{idle,iowait}_time for nohz") did not take into account that one some architectures jiffies and cputime use different units. This causes get_idle_time() to return numbers in the wrong units, making the idle time fields in /proc/stat wrong. Instead of converting the usec value returned by get_cpu_{idle,iowait}_time_us to units of jiffies, use the new function usecs_to_cputime64 to convert it to the correct unit of cputime64_t. 2011-12-19powerpc: Fix wrong divisor in usecs_to_cputimeAndreas Schwab1-3/+3
Commit d57af9b (taskstats: use real microsecond granularity for CPU times) renamed msecs_to_cputime to usecs_to_cputime, but failed to update all numbers on the way. This causes nonsensical cpu idle/iowait values to be displayed in /proc/stat (the only user of usecs_to_cputime so far). This also renames __cputime_msec_factor to __cputime_usec_factor, adapting its value and using it directly in cputime_to_usecs instead of doing two multiplications. 2011-12-15[S390] cputime: add sparse checking and cleanupMartin Schwidefsky1-43/+27
Make cputime_t and cputime64_t nocast to enable sparse checking to detect incorrect use of cputime. Drop the cputime macros for simple scalar operations. The conversion macros are still needed. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2010-10-27taskstats: use real microsecond granularity for CPU timesMichael Holzheu1-6/+6
The taskstats interface uses microsecond granularity for the user and system time values. The conversion from cputime to the taskstats values uses the cputime_to_msecs primitive which effectively limits the granularity to milliseconds. Add the cputime_to_usecs primitive for architectures that have better, more precise CPU time values. Remove cputime_to_msecs primitive because there are no more users left. 2010-02-03powerpc: Replace per_cpu(, smp_processor_id()) with __get_cpu_var()Anton Blanchard1-4/+3
The cputime code has a few places that do per_cpu(, smp_processor_id()). Replace them with __get_cpu_var(). Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
2009-08-03cputime: Optimize jiffies_to_cputime(1)Stanislaw Gruszka1-0/+13
For powerpc with CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING jiffies_to_cputime(1) is not compile time constant and run time calculations are quite expensive. To optimize we use precomputed value. For all other architectures is is preprocessor definition. 2008-08-04powerpc: Move include files to arch/powerpc/include/asmStephen Rothwell1-0/+235
from include/asm-powerpc. This is the result of a mkdir arch/powerpc/include/asm git mv include/asm-powerpc/* arch/powerpc/include/asm Followed by a few documentation/comment fixups and a couple of places where <asm-powepc/...> was being used explicitly. Of the latter only one was outside the arch code and it is a driver only built for powerpc. Signed-off-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
