2007-09-25[PPC] Compile fix for 8xx CPM Ehernet driverJochen Friedrich1-0/+1
Add #include <asm/cacheflush.h> for flush_dcache_range to make the driver compile again. 2007-09-25[PPC] Fix cpm_dpram_addr returning phys mem instead of virt memJochen Friedrich1-1/+1
cpm_dpram_addr returns physical memory of the DP RAM instead of iomapped virtual memory. As there usually is a 1:1 MMU map of the IMMR area, this is often not noticed. However, cpm_dpram_phys assumes this iomapped virtual memory and returns garbage on the 1:1 mapped memory causing CPM1 uart console to fail. This patch fixes the problem (copied from the powerpc tree). Signed-off-by: Jochen Friedrich <jochen@scram.de>

2007-05-09[POWERPC] Change rheap functions to use ulongs instead of pointersTimur Tabi1-11/+11
The rheap allocation functions return a pointer, but the actual value is based on how the heap was initialized, and so it can be anything, e.g. an offset into a buffer. A ulong is a better representation of the value returned by the allocation functions. This patch changes all of the relevant rheap functions to use a unsigned long integers instead of a pointer. In case of an error, the value returned is a negative error code that has been cast to an unsigned long. The caller can use the IS_ERR_VALUE() macro to check for this. All code which calls the rheap functions is updated accordingly. Macros IS_MURAM_ERR() and IS_DPERR(), have been deleted in favor of IS_ERR_VALUE(). Also added error checking to rh_attach_region(). 2007-05-02PCI: Cleanup the includes of <linux/pci.h>Jean Delvare1-1/+0
I noticed that many source files include <linux/pci.h> while they do not appear to need it. Here is an attempt to clean it all up. In order to find all possibly affected files, I searched for all files including <linux/pci.h> but without any other occurence of "pci" or "PCI". I removed the include statement from all of these, then I compiled an allmodconfig kernel on both i386 and x86_64 and fixed the false positives manually. My tests covered 66% of the affected files, so there could be false positives remaining. Untested files are: arch/alpha/kernel/err_common.c arch/alpha/kernel/err_ev6.c arch/alpha/kernel/err_ev7.c arch/ia64/sn/kernel/huberror.c arch/ia64/sn/kernel/xpnet.c arch/m68knommu/kernel/dma.c arch/mips/lib/iomap.c arch/powerpc/platforms/pseries/ras.c arch/ppc/8260_io/enet.c arch/ppc/8260_io/fcc_enet.c arch/ppc/8xx_io/enet.c arch/ppc/syslib/ppc4xx_sgdma.c arch/sh64/mach-cayman/iomap.c arch/xtensa/kernel/xtensa_ksyms.c arch/xtensa/platform-iss/setup.c drivers/i2c/busses/i2c-at91.c drivers/i2c/busses/i2c-mpc.c drivers/media/video/saa711x.c drivers/misc/hdpuftrs/hdpu_cpustate.c drivers/misc/hdpuftrs/hdpu_nexus.c drivers/net/au1000_eth.c drivers/net/fec_8xx/fec_main.c drivers/net/fec_8xx/fec_mii.c drivers/net/fs_enet/fs_enet-main.c drivers/net/fs_enet/mac-fcc.c drivers/net/fs_enet/mac-fec.c drivers/net/fs_enet/mac-scc.c drivers/net/fs_enet/mii-bitbang.c drivers/net/fs_enet/mii-fec.c drivers/net/ibm_emac/ibm_emac_core.c drivers/net/lasi_82596.c drivers/parisc/hppb.c drivers/sbus/sbus.c drivers/video/g364fb.c drivers/video/platinumfb.c drivers/video/stifb.c drivers/video/valkyriefb.c include/asm-arm/arch-ixp4xx/dma.h sound/oss/au1550_ac97.c I would welcome test reports for these files. I am fine with removing the untested files from the patch if the general opinion is that these changes aren't safe. The tested part would still be nice to have. Recently, someone fixed a syntax error in the HTDMSOUND driver introduced 4 years ago. Unfortunately not by trying to compile this driver for his hardware but by code inspection - which seems to be a strong indication that there are no users left for this OSS sound driver. 2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 2Arjan van de Ven1-3/+3
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. 2006-06-29[PATCH] genirq: rename desc->handler to desc->chipIngo Molnar1-1/+1
This patch-queue improves the generic IRQ layer to be truly generic, by adding various abstractions and features to it, without impacting existing functionality. While the queue can be best described as "fix and improve everything in the generic IRQ layer that we could think of", and thus it consists of many smaller features and lots of cleanups, the one feature that stands out most is the new 'irq chip' abstraction. The irq-chip abstraction is about describing and coding and IRQ controller driver by mapping its raw hardware capabilities [and quirks, if needed] in a straightforward way, without having to think about "IRQ flow" (level/edge/etc.) type of details. This stands in contrast with the current 'irq-type' model of genirq architectures, which 'mixes' raw hardware capabilities with 'flow' details. The patchset supports both types of irq controller designs at once, and converts i386 and x86_64 to the new irq-chip design. As a bonus side-effect of the irq-chip approach, chained interrupt controllers (master/slave PIC constructs, etc.) are now supported by design as well. The end result of this patchset intends to be simpler architecture-level code and more consolidation between architectures. We reused many bits of code and many concepts from Russell King's ARM IRQ layer, the merging of which was one of the motivations for this patchset. This patch: rename desc->handler to desc->chip. Originally i did not want to do this, because it's a big patch. But having both "desc->handler", "desc->handle_irq" and "action->handler" caused a large degree of confusion and made the code appear alot less clean than it truly is. I have also attempted a dual approach as well by introducing a desc->chip alias - but that just wasnt robust enough and broke frequently. So lets get over with this quickly. The conversion was done automatically via scripts and converts all the code in the kernel. This renaming patch is the first one amongst the patches, so that the remaining patches can stay flexible and can be merged and split up without having some big monolithic patch act as a merge barrier. Convert core 8xx drivers to use in_xxxbe/in_xxx macros instead of direct memory references. Other than making IO accesses explicit (which is a plus for readability), a common set of macros provides a unified place for the volatile flag to constraint compiler code reordering. 2005-07-05[PATCH] ppc32: add Freescale MPC885ADS board supportAndrei Konovalov1-8/+44
This patch adds the Freescale MPC86xADS board support. The supported devices are SMC UART and 10Mbit ethernet on SCC1. The manual for the board says that it "is compatible with the MPC8xxFADS for software point of view". That's why this patch extends FADS instead of introducing a new platform. FEC is not supported as the "combined FCC/FEC ethernet driver" driver by Pantelis Antoniou should replace the current FEC driver. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
