2019-08-26s390/mem_detect: provide single get_mem_detect_endVasily Gorbik1-0/+12
get_mem_detect_end is already used in couple of places with potential to be utilized in more cases. Provide single get_mem_detect_end implementation in asm/mem_detect.h to be used by kasan and startup code. Signed-off-by: Vasily Gorbik <gor@linux.ibm.com>
2019-08-24s390/qeth: add TX NAPI support for IQD devicesJulian Wiedmann1-0/+1
Due to their large MTU and potentially low utilization of TX buffers, IQD devices in particular require fast TX recycling. This makes them a prime candidate for a TX NAPI path in qeth. qeth_tx_poll() uses the recently introduced qdio_inspect_queue() helper to poll the TX queue for completed buffers. To avoid hogging the CPU for too long, we yield to the stack after completing an entire queue's worth of buffers. While IQD is expected to transfer its buffers synchronously (and thus doesn't support TX interrupts), a timer covers for the odd case where a TX buffer doesn't complete synchronously. Currently this timer should only ever fire for (1) the mcast queue, (2) the occasional race, where the NAPI poll code observes an update to queue->used_buffers while the TX doorbell hasn't been issued yet. 2019-08-24s390/qdio: let drivers opt-out from Output Queue scanningJulian Wiedmann1-1/+1
If a driver wants to use the new Output Queue poll code, then the qdio layer must disable its internal Queue scanning. Let the driver select this mode by passing a special scan_threshold of 0. As the scan_threshold is the same for all Output Queues, also move it into the main qdio_irq struct. This allows for fast opt-out checking, a driver is expected to operate either _all_ or none of its Output Queues in polling mode. 2019-08-24s390/qdio: enable drivers to poll for Output completionsJulian Wiedmann1-0/+3
While commit d36deae75011 ("qdio: extend API to allow polling") enhanced the qdio layer so that drivers can poll their Input Queues, we don't have the corresponding infrastructure for Output Queues yet. Factor out a helper that scans a single QDIO Queue, so that qeth can implement TX NAPI on top of it. While doing so, remove the duplicated tracking of the next-to-scan index (q->first_to_check vs q->first_to_kick) in this code path. qdio_handle_aobs() needs to move slightly upwards in the code hierarchy, so that it's still called from the polling path. 2019-08-21s390/pkey: pkey cleanup: narrow in-kernel API, fix some variable typesHarald Freudenberger1-112/+2
There are a lot of pkey functions exported as in-kernel callable API functions but not used at all. This patch narrows down the pkey in-kernel API to what is currently only used and exploited. Within the kernel just use u32 without any leading __u32. Also functions declared in a header file in arch/s390/include/asm don't need a comment 'In-kernel API', this is by definition, otherwise the header file would be in arch/s390/include/uapi/asm. 2019-08-21s390/kasan: provide uninstrumented __strlenVasily Gorbik1-2/+7
s390 kasan code uses sclp_early_printk to report initialization failures. The code doing that should not be instrumented, because kasan shadow memory has not been set up yet. Even though sclp_early_core.c is compiled with instrumentation disabled it uses strlen function, which is instrumented and would produce shadow memory access if used. To avoid that, introduce uninstrumented __strlen function to be used instead. Before commit 7e0d92f00246 ("s390/kasan: improve string/memory functions checks") few string functions (including strlen) were escaping kasan instrumentation due to usage of platform specific versions which are implemented in inline assembly. Fixes: 7e0d92f00246 ("s390/kasan: improve string/memory functions checks") Acked-by: Ilya Leoshkevich <iii@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Vasily Gorbik <gor@linux.ibm.com>
2019-08-21s390/mm: use refcount_t for refcountChuhong Yuan1-1/+3
Reference counters are preferred to use refcount_t instead of atomic_t. This is because the implementation of refcount_t can prevent overflows and detect possible use-after-free. So convert atomic_t ref counters to refcount_t. Few other crucial memory setup options are already handled in the startup code. Those values are needed by kaslr and kasan implementations. "vmalloc" is the last piece required for future improvements such as early decision on kernel page levels depth required for actual memory setup, as well as vmalloc memory area access monitoring in kasan. Now that generic code doesn't reference them, move sme_active() and sme_me_mask to x86's <asm/mem_encrypt.h>. Also remove the export for sme_active() since it's only used in files that won't be built as modules. sme_me_mask on the other hand is used in arch/x86/kvm/svm.c (via __sme_set() and __psp_pa()) which can be built as a module so its export needs to stay. While at it, update the short kdoc description to distinguish the different functions. And a few more consistency cleanups. Added a new kdoc for debug_set_critical() since debug.h comments it as part of the API. 2019-07-02s390: ap: kvm: add PQAP interception for AQICPierre Morel1-0/+7
We prepare the interception of the PQAP/AQIC instruction for the case the AQIC facility is enabled in the guest. First of all we do not want to change existing behavior when intercepting AP instructions without the SIE allowing the guest to use AP instructions. In this patch we only handle the AQIC interception allowed by facility 65 which will be enabled when the complete interception infrastructure will be present. We add a callback inside the KVM arch structure for s390 for a VFIO driver to handle a specific response to the PQAP instruction with the AQIC command and only this command. But we want to be able to return a correct answer to the guest even there is no VFIO AP driver in the kernel. Therefor, we inject the correct exceptions from inside KVM for the case the callback is not initialized, which happens when the vfio_ap driver is not loaded. We do consider the responsibility of the driver to always initialize the PQAP callback if it defines queues by initializing the CRYCB for a guest. If the callback has been setup we call it. If not we setup an answer considering that no queue is available for the guest when no callback has been setup. 2019-06-19s390: fix stfle zero paddingHeiko Carstens1-7/+14
The stfle inline assembly returns the number of double words written (condition code 0) or the double words it would have written (condition code 3), if the memory array it got as parameter would have been large enough. The current stfle implementation assumes that the array is always large enough and clears those parts of the array that have not been written to with a subsequent memset call. If however the array is not large enough memset will get a negative length parameter, which means that memset clears memory until it gets an exception and the kernel crashes. To fix this simply limit the maximum length. Move also the inline assembly to an extra function to avoid clobbering of register 0, which might happen because of the added min_t invocation together with code instrumentation. The bug was introduced with commit 14375bc4eb8d ("[S390] cleanup facility list handling") but was rather harmless, since it would only write to a rather large array. It became a potential problem with commit 3ab121ab1866 ("[S390] kernel: Add z/VM LGR detection"). Since then it writes to an array with only four double words, while some machines already deliver three double words. As soon as machines have a facility bit within the fifth double a crash on IPL would happen. 2019-06-15s390: improve wait logic of stop_machineMartin Schwidefsky1-1/+2
The stop_machine loop to advance the state machine and to wait for all affected CPUs to check-in calls cpu_relax_yield in a tight loop until the last missing CPUs acknowledged the state transition. On a virtual system where not all logical CPUs are backed by real CPUs all the time it can take a while for all CPUs to check-in. With the current definition of cpu_relax_yield a diagnose 0x44 is done which tells the hypervisor to schedule *some* other CPU. That can be any CPU and not necessarily one of the CPUs that need to run in order to advance the state machine. This can lead to a pretty bad diagnose 0x44 storm until the last missing CPU finally checked-in. Replace the undirected cpu_relax_yield based on diagnose 0x44 with a directed yield. Each CPU in the wait loop will pick up the next CPU in the cpumask of stop_machine. The diagnose 0x9c is used to tell the hypervisor to run this next CPU instead of the current one. If there is only a limited number of real CPUs backing the virtual CPUs we end up with the real CPUs passed around in a round-robin fashion. 2019-06-04KVM: Directly return result from kvm_arch_check_processor_compat()Sean Christopherson1-1/+0
Add a wrapper to invoke kvm_arch_check_processor_compat() so that the boilerplate ugliness of checking virtualization support on all CPUs is hidden from the arch specific code. x86's implementation in particular is quite heinous, as it unnecessarily propagates the out-param pattern into kvm_x86_ops. While the x86 specific issue could be resolved solely by changing kvm_x86_ops, make the change for all architectures as returning a value directly is prettier and technically more robust, e.g. s390 doesn't set the out param, which could lead to subtle breakage in the (highly unlikely) scenario where the out-param was not pre-initialized by the caller. 2019-06-03locking/atomic, s390: Use s64 for atomic64Mark Rutland1-19/+19
As a step towards making the atomic64 API use consistent types treewide, let's have the s390 atomic64 implementation use s64 as the underlying type for atomic64_t, rather than long, matching the generated headers. As atomic64_read() depends on the generic defintion of atomic64_t, this still returns long. This will be converted in a subsequent patch. The s390-internal __atomic64_*() ops are also used by the s390 bitops, and expect pointers to long. Since atomic64_t::counter will be converted to s64 in a subsequent patch, pointes to this are explicitly cast to pointers to long when passed to __atomic64_*() ops. Otherwise, there should be no functional change as a result of this patch. 2019-05-28s390/zcrypt: Fix wrong dispatching for control domain CPRBsHarald Freudenberger1-2/+2
The zcrypt device driver does not handle CPRBs which address a control domain correctly. This fix introduces a workaround: The domain field of the request CPRB is checked if there is a valid domain value in there. If this is true and the value is a control only domain (a domain which is enabled in the crypto config ADM mask but disabled in the AQM mask) the CPRB is forwarded to the default usage domain. If there is no default domain, the request is rejected with an ENODEV. This fix is important for maintaining crypto adapters. For example one LPAR can use a crypto adapter domain ('Control and Usage') but another LPAR needs to be able to maintain this adapter domain ('Control').
