Sigh, I missed to check which architecture Kconfig files actually include the core Kconfig file. There are a few which did not. So we broke them. Instead of adding the includes to those, we are better off to move the include to init/Kconfig like we did already with irqs and others. This does not change anything for the architectures using the old style periodic timer mode. It just solves the build wreckage there. For those architectures which use the clock events infrastructure it moves the include of the core Kconfig file to "General setup" which is a way more logical place than having it at random locations specified by the architecture specific Kconfigs. Both of these boards are still using the PIO API sans PCI, and will need to be carefully converted. As conversion is out of scope for this merge window, simply make sure NO_IOPORT doesn't get accidentally set for these, joining a long list of other crap platforms. 2012-05-11gpiolib/arches: Centralise bolierplate asm/gpio.hMark Brown1-0/+1
Rather than requiring architectures that use gpiolib but don't have any need to define anything custom to copy an asm/gpio.h provide a Kconfig symbol which architectures must select in order to include gpio.h and for other architectures just provide the trivial implementation directly. This makes it much easier to do gpiolib updates and is also a step towards making gpiolib APIs available on every architecture. For architectures with existing boilerplate code leave a stub header in place which warns on direct inclusion of asm/gpio.h and includes linux/gpio.h to catch code that's doing this. Direct inclusion of asm/gpio.h has long been deprecated. 2012-03-29sh: Support I/O space swapping where needed.Paul Mundt1-0/+3
This adopts a trimmed down version of the MIPS port mangling interface limited to the I/O swabbing for platforms that can't use little endian accessors. For platforms with mixed I/O spaces involving PCI it will still be necessary to enable byte swapping at the host controller level. Attention needs to be paid to all of host controller endianness, CPU endianness, and whether I/O accesses are explicitly swapped or not via SWAP_IO_SPACE. commit 43db595e8b5d78ce5ad2feab719814a76e3ad2e5 (sh: switch to GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP) failed to take into account the PCI channels's io_map_base for mapping IO BARs. This also caused a new warning on sh. Fix this, without re-introducing code duplication, by setting NO_GENERIC_PCI_IOPORT_MAP and supplying a sh-specific __pci_ioport_map. It has been observed on an sh7757lcr that simply modifying MEMORY_START does not achieve this goal for 32bit sh. This is due to MEMORY_OFFSET in arch/sh/kernel/vmlinux.lds.S bot being based on MEMORY_START on such systems. 2011-08-03Add Kconfig option ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHGHuang Ying1-0/+1
cmpxchg() is widely used by lockless code, including NMI-safe lockless code. But on some architectures, the cmpxchg() implementation is not NMI-safe, on these architectures the lockless code may need a spin_trylock_irqsave() based implementation. This patch adds a Kconfig option: ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG, so that NMI-safe lockless code can depend on it or provide different implementation according to it. On many architectures, cmpxchg is only NMI-safe for several specific operand sizes. So, ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG define in this patch only guarantees cmpxchg is NMI-safe for sizeof(unsigned long). 2011-07-23virtio: expose for non-virtualization users tooOhad Ben-Cohen1-16/+0
virtio has been so far used only in the context of virtualization, and the virtio Kconfig was sourced directly by the relevant arch Kconfigs when VIRTUALIZATION was selected. Now that we start using virtio for inter-processor communications, we need to source the virtio Kconfig outside of the virtualization scope too. Moreover, some architectures might use virtio for both virtualization and inter-processor communications, so directly sourcing virtio might yield unexpected results due to conflicting selections. The simple solution offered by this patch is to always source virtio's Kconfig in drivers/Kconfig, and remove it from the appropriate arch Kconfigs. Additionally, a virtio menu entry has been added so virtio drivers don't show up in the general drivers menu. This way anyone can use virtio, though it's arguably less accessible (and neat!) for virtualization users now. Note: some architectures (mips and sh) seem to have a VIRTUALIZATION menu merely for sourcing virtio's Kconfig, so that menu is removed too. Since suspend, resume and shutdown operations in struct sysdev_class and struct sysdev_driver are not used any more, remove them. Also drop sysdev_suspend(), sysdev_resume() and sysdev_shutdown() used for executing those operations and modify all of their users accordingly. But m68knommu wants to define own faster find_next_zero_bit_le() and continues using generic find_next_{,zero_}bit().
