2011-12-23oprofile, arm/sh: Fix oprofile_arch_exit() linkage issueVladimir Zapolskiy1-2/+2
This change fixes a linking problem, which happens if oprofile is selected to be compiled as built-in: `oprofile_arch_exit' referenced in section `.init.text' of arch/arm/oprofile/built-in.o: defined in discarded section `.exit.text' of arch/arm/oprofile/built-in.o The problem is appeared after commit 87121ca504, which introduced oprofile_arch_exit() calls from __init function. Note that the aforementioned commit has been backported to stable branches, and the problem is known to be reproduced at least with 3.0.13 and 3.1.5 kernels. 2011-11-06cpuidle: Single/Global registration of idle statesDeepthi Dharwar1-7/+11
This patch makes the cpuidle_states structure global (single copy) instead of per-cpu. The statistics needed on per-cpu basis by the governor are kept per-cpu. This simplifies the cpuidle subsystem as state registration is done by single cpu only. Having single copy of cpuidle_states saves memory. Rare case of asymmetric C-states can be handled within the cpuidle driver and architectures such as POWER do not have asymmetric C-states. Having single/global registration of all the idle states, dynamic C-state transitions on x86 are handled by the boot cpu. Here, the boot cpu would disable all the devices, re-populate the states and later enable all the devices, irrespective of the cpu that would receive the notification first. 2011-11-06cpuidle: Move dev->last_residency update to driver enter routine; remove dev->last_stateDeepthi Dharwar1-5/+7
Cpuidle governor only suggests the state to enter using the governor->select() interface, but allows the low level driver to override the recommended state. The actual entered state may be different because of software or hardware demotion. Software demotion is done by the back-end cpuidle driver and can be accounted correctly. Current cpuidle code uses last_state field to capture the actual state entered and based on that updates the statistics for the state entered. Ideally the driver enter routine should update the counters, and it should return the state actually entered rather than the time spent there. The generic cpuidle code should simply handle where the counters live in the sysfs namespace, not updating the counters. Register crashk_res so that it can be used by kexec-tools via /proc/iomem. 2011-08-03Add Kconfig option ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHGHuang Ying1-0/+1
cmpxchg() is widely used by lockless code, including NMI-safe lockless code. But on some architectures, the cmpxchg() implementation is not NMI-safe, on these architectures the lockless code may need a spin_trylock_irqsave() based implementation. This patch adds a Kconfig option: ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG, so that NMI-safe lockless code can depend on it or provide different implementation according to it. On many architectures, cmpxchg is only NMI-safe for several specific operand sizes. So, ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG define in this patch only guarantees cmpxchg is NMI-safe for sizeof(unsigned long). 2011-07-27[media] V4L: soc-camera: remove soc-camera bus and devices on itGuennadi Liakhovetski1-8/+7
Now that v4l2 subdevices have got their own device objects, having one more device in soc-camera clients became redundant and confusing. This patch removes those devices and the soc-camera bus, they used to reside on.
