2011-07-21x86: Serialize SMP bootup CMOS accesses on rtc_lockJan Beulich1-0/+8
With CPU hotplug, there is a theoretical race between other CMOS (namely RTC) accesses and those done in the SMP secondary processor bringup path. I am unware of the problem having been noticed by anyone in practice, but it would very likely be rather spurious and very hard to reproduce. So to be on the safe side, acquire rtc_lock around those accesses. 2011-02-28x86: Use u32 instead of long to set reset vector back to 0Don Zickus1-1/+1
A customer of ours, complained that when setting the reset vector back to 0, it trashed other data and hung their box. They noticed when only 4 bytes were set to 0 instead of 8, everything worked correctly. Mathew pointed out: | | We're supposed to be resetting trampoline_phys_low and | trampoline_phys_high here, which are two 16-bit values. | Writing 64 bits is definitely going to overwrite space | that we're not supposed to be touching. | So limit the area modified to u32. 2010-11-18x86, nmi_watchdog: Remove all stub function calls from old nmi_watchdogDon Zickus1-1/+0
Now that the bulk of the old nmi_watchdog is gone, remove all the stub variables and hooks associated with it. This touches lots of files mainly because of how the io_apic nmi_watchdog was implemented. Now that the io_apic nmi_watchdog is forever gone, remove all its fingers. Most of this code was not being exercised by virtue of nmi_watchdog != NMI_IO_APIC, so there shouldn't be anything to risky here. 2009-01-29x86: move mach-default/*.h files to asm/Ingo Molnar1-0/+61
We are getting rid of subarchitecture support - move the hook files to asm/. (These are now stale and should be replaced with more explicit runtime mechanisms - but the transition is simpler this way.) Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
