Some security modules and oprofile still uses VM_EXECUTABLE for retrieving
a task's executable file. After this patch they will use mm->exe_file
directly. mm->exe_file is protected with mm->mmap_sem, so locking stays
the same.

Move actual pte filling for non-linear file mappings into the new special
vma operation: ->remap_pages().
Filesystems must implement this method to get non-linear mapping support,
if it uses filemap_fault() then generic_file_remap_pages() can be used.
Now device drivers can implement this method and obtain nonlinear vma support.

Merge VM_INSERTPAGE into VM_MIXEDMAP. VM_MIXEDMAP VMA can mix pure-pfn
ptes, special ptes and normal ptes.
Now copy_page_range() always copies VM_MIXEDMAP VMA on fork like
VM_PFNMAP. If driver populates whole VMA at mmap() it probably not
expects page-faults.
This patch removes special check from vma_wants_writenotify() which
disables pages write tracking for VMA populated via vm_instert_page().
BDI below mapped file should not use dirty-accounting, moreover
do_wp_page() can handle this.
vm_insert_page() still marks vma after first usage. Usually it is called
from f_op->mmap() handler under mm->mmap_sem write-lock, so it able to
change vma->vm_flags. Caller must set VM_MIXEDMAP at mmap time if it
wants to call this function from other places, for example from page-fault
handler.

Replace the generic vma-flag VM_PFN_AT_MMAP with x86-only VM_PAT.
We can toss mapping address from remap_pfn_range() into
track_pfn_vma_new(), and collect all PAT-related logic together in
arch/x86/.
This patch also restores orignal frustration-free is_cow_mapping() check
in remap_pfn_range(), as it was before commit v2.6.28-rc8-88-g3c8bb73
("x86: PAT: store vm_pgoff for all linear_over_vma_region mappings - v3")
is_linear_pfn_mapping() checks can be removed from mm/huge_memory.c,
because it already handled by VM_PFNMAP in VM_NO_THP bit-mask.

With PAT enabled, vm_insert_pfn() looks up the existing pfn memory
attribute and uses it. Expectation is that the driver reserves the
memory attributes for the pfn before calling vm_insert_pfn().
remap_pfn_range() (when called for the whole vma) will setup a new
attribute (based on the prot argument) for the specified pfn range.
This addresses the legacy usage which typically calls remap_pfn_range()
with a desired memory attribute. For ranges smaller than the vma size
(which is typically not the case), remap_pfn_range() will use the
existing memory attribute for the pfn range.
Expose two different API's for these different behaviors.
track_pfn_insert() for tracking the pfn attribute set by vm_insert_pfn()
and track_pfn_remap() for the remap_pfn_range().
This cleanup also prepares the ground for the track/untrack pfn vma
routines to take over the ownership of setting PAT specific vm_flag in
the 'vma'.

'pfn' argument for track_pfn_vma_new() can be used for reserving the
attribute for the pfn range. No need to depend on 'vm_pgoff'
Similarly, untrack_pfn_vma() can depend on the 'pfn' argument if it is
non-zero or can use follow_phys() to get the starting value of the pfn
range.
Also the non zero 'size' argument can be used instead of recomputing it
from vma.
This cleanup also prepares the ground for the track/untrack pfn vma
routines to take over the ownership of setting PAT specific vm_flag in the
'vma'.

When transparent huge pages were introduced, memory compaction and swap
storms were an issue, and the kernel had to be careful to not make THP
allocations cause pageout or compaction.
Now that we have working compaction deferral, kswapd is smart enough to
invoke compaction and the quadratic behaviour around isolate_free_pages
has been fixed, it should be safe to remove __GFP_NO_KSWAPD.

The synchronization between CPU hotplug readers and writers is achieved
by means of refcounting, safeguarded by the cpu_hotplug.lock.
get_online_cpus() increments the refcount, whereas put_online_cpus()
decrements it. If we ever hit an imbalance between the two, we end up
compromising the guarantees of the hotplug synchronization i.e, for
example, an extra call to put_online_cpus() can end up allowing a
hotplug reader to execute concurrently with a hotplug writer.
So, add a WARN_ON() in put_online_cpus() to detect such cases where the
refcount can go negative, and also attempt to fix it up, so that we can
continue to run.

Change de_thread() to use KILLABLE rather than UNINTERRUPTIBLE while
waiting for other threads. The only complication is that we should
clear ->group_exit_task and ->notify_count before we return, and we
should do this under tasklist_lock. -EAGAIN is used to match the
initial signal_group_exit() check/return, it doesn't really matter.
This fixes the (unlikely) race with coredump. de_thread() checks
signal_group_exit() before it starts to kill the subthreads, but this
can't help if another CLONE_VM (but non CLONE_THREAD) task starts the
coredumping after de_thread() unlocks ->siglock. In this case the
killed sub-thread can block in exit_mm() waiting for coredump_finish(),
execing thread waits for that sub-thead, and the coredumping thread
waits for execing thread. Deadlock.

task_work_run() implementation had the side effect of enabling
interrupts. With commit ac3d0da8 (task_work: Make task_work_add()
lockless), interrupts are no longer enabled revealing the bug in the
arch code. This patch enables the interrupt explicitly before calling
do_notify_resume().

Following commit 74838b7 (swiotlb: add the late swiotlb initialization
function with iotlb memory) the swiotlb_init_with_default_size() is a
static function. This patch changes the arm64 code to call
swiotlb_init() instead and use the default size of 64MB. It is assumed
that AArch64 platforms have enough RAM to afford the pre-allocated
swiotlb memory. It also removes the #ifdef around this call since
CONFIG_SWIOTLB is always enabled.

Someone (over a year ago :-p) asked me to document localmodconfig in the
README file in the source code. I thought it was a good idea but other

Add support to export the device description obtained from the ACPI _STR
method, if one exists for a device, to user-space via a sysfs interface.
This new interface provides a standard and platform neutral way for users
to obtain the description text stored in the ACPI _STR method. If no
_STR method exists for the device, no sysfs 'description' file will be
created. The 'description' file will be located in the /sys/devices/
directory using the device's path.
/sys/device/<bus>/<bridge path>/<device path>.../firmware_node/description
Example:
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00.07.0/0000:0e:00.0/firmware_node/description
It can also be located using the ACPI device path, for example:
/sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/ACPI0004:00/PNP0A08:00/device:13/device:15/description
/sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/ACPI0004:00/ACPI0004:01/ACPI0007:02/description
Execute the 'cat' command on the 'description' file to obtain the
description string for that device.
This patch also includes documentation describing how the new sysfs
interface works

* Removed output "No Description" and leaving a NULL attribute if the
_STR method failed to evaluate.
* In acpi_device_remove_files() removed the redundent check of
dev->pnp.str_obj before calling free. This check triggered a message

Parsing acpi table entries may fall into an infinite loop on a buggy BIOS
which has entry length=0 in acpi table.
Instead of kernel hang with few failure clue which leads to heavy lifting debug
effort, this patch hardens kernel boot by booting into non NUMA mode. The debug
info left in log buffer helps people identify the issue.

Counting SMIs is popular, so add a dedicated "-s" option to do it,
and juggle some of the other option letters.
-S is now system summary (was -s)
-c is 32 bit counter (was -d)
-C is 64-bit counter (was -D)
-p is 1st thread in core (was -c)
-P is 1st thread in package (was -p)
bump the minor version number

After the recent patch "ALSA: hda - use both input paths on Conexant
auto parser" suddenly we can have more than one "Mic Boost", this
happened on Acer Aspire One 722. Therefore we must add the possibility
to put an index on this "Mic Boost" just as we do for the other
"Mic Boost" earlier in the same function.

When the loopback timer handler is running, calling del_timer() (for STOP
trigger) will not wait for the handler to complete before deactivating the
timer. The timer gets rescheduled in the handler as usual. Then a subsequent
START trigger will try to start the timer using add_timer() with a timer pending
leading to a kernel panic.
Serialize the calls to add_timer() and del_timer() using a spin lock to avoid
this.

There was a race condition when the system suspends while hda_power_work
is running in the work queue. If system suspend (snd_hda_suspend)
happens after the work queue releases power_lock but before it calls
hda_call_codec_suspend, codec_suspend runs with power_on=0, causing the
codec to power up for register reads, and hanging when it calls
cancel_delayed_work_sync from the running work queue.
The call chain from the work queue will look like this:
hda_power_work <<- power_on = 1, unlock, then power_on cleard by suspend
hda_call_codec_suspend
hda_set_power_state
snd_hda_codec_read
codec_exec_verb
snd_hda_power_up
snd_hda_power_save
__snd_hda_power_up

Fix this by waiting for the work queue to finish before starting suspend
if suspend is not happening on the work queue.

In commit af741c1 ("ALSA: hda/realtek - Call alc_auto_parse_customize_define()
always after fixup"), alc_auto_parse_customize_define was moved after
detection of ALC271X.
The problem is that detection of ALC271X relies on spec->cdefine.platform_type,
and it's set on alc_auto_parse_customize_define.
Move the alc_auto_parse_customize_define and its required fixup setup
before the block doing the ALC271X and other codec setup.

This adds optimized memset/bzero/page-clear routines for Niagara-4.
We basically can do what powerpc has been able to do for a decade (via
the "dcbz" instruction), which is use cache line clearing stores for
bzero and memsets with a 'c' argument of zero.
As long as we make the cache initializing store to each 32-byte
subblock of the L2 cache line, it works.
As with other Niagara-4 optimized routines, the key is to make sure to
avoid any usage of the %asi register, as reads and writes to it cost
at least 50 cycles.
For the user clear cases, we don't use these new routines, we use the
Niagara-1 variants instead. Those have to use %asi in an unavoidable
way.
A Niagara-4 8K page clear costs just under 600 cycles.
Add definitions of the MRU variants of the cache initializing store
ASIs. By default, cache initializing stores install the line as Least
Recently Used. If we know we're going to use the data immediately
(which is true for page copies and clears) we can use the Most
Recently Used variant, to decrease the likelyhood of the lines being
evicted before they get used.

Now that i2c-mux-gpio is able to find the GPIO chip by itself, we can
delegate this task. The great thing here is that i2c-mux-gpio can
defer device probing until the gpio chip is available, so we no longer
depend on the module loading order.

The code instantiating an i2c-mux-gpio platform device doesn't
necessarily know in advance the GPIO pin numbers it wants to use. If
pins are on a GPIO device which gets its base GPIO number assigned
dynamically at run-time, the values can't be hard-coded.
In that case, let the caller tell i2c-mux-gpio the name of the GPIO
chip and the (relative) GPIO pin numbers to use. At probe time, the
i2c-mux-gpio driver will look for the chip and apply the proper offset
to turn relative GPIO pin numbers to absolute GPIO pin numbers.
The same could be (and was so far) done on the caller's end, however
doing it in i2c-mux-gpio has two benefits:
* It avoids duplicating the code on every caller's side (about 30
lines of code.)
* It allows for deferred probing for the muxed part of the I2C bus
only. If finding the GPIO chip is the caller's responsibility, then
deferred probing (if the GPIO chip isn't there yet) will not only
affect the mux and the I2C bus segments behind it, but also the I2C
bus trunk.

Add support for SMBus multiplexing on Asus Z8 motherboard series. On
these boards, the memory slots are behind a GPIO-controlled I2C
multiplexer. Models with 6 or 12 memory slots have 2 segments behind
the multiplexer, while models with 18 memory slots have 3 such
segments.
On these boards, only the memory slots are behind the multiplexer,
so it is possible to keep the autodetection mechanism.
The code is generic enough so it could work on other boards as long as
the multiplexer is controlled by GPIO pins. For other forms of
multiplexing (for example using an I2C device) additional code will be
needed.
Thanks to Asus for providing a board to develop and test this feature,
as well as all the technical information required.
At the moment, the GPIO driver must be loaded before the i2c-i801
driver, but I hope to solve this soon, using deferred probing on
the i2c-mux-gpio side.

Remove the global dependency of the I2C subsystem on HAS_IOMEM and
move the dependency to the i2c/busses submenu, with an exception for
i2c-stub.
The generic I2C part does not need to have HAS_IOMEM set and thus now
becomes available in UML, so the I2C subsystem can now be used, e.g.
by the i2c-stub driver, for development of I2C device drivers.

Converting kzalloc to devm_kzalloc simplifies the code and ensures that the
result, alert, is freed after the irq allocated by the subsequent
devm_request_irq. This in turn ensures that when an interrupt can be
triggered, the alert structure is still available.
The problem of a free after a devm_request_irq was found using the

Let I2C bus segments behind multiplexers have a class. This allows for
device auto-detection on these segments. As long as parent segments
don't share the same class, it should be fine.
I implemented support in drivers i2c-mux-gpio and i2c-mux-pca954x. I
left i2c-mux-pca9541 and i2c-mux-pinctrl alone for the moment as I
don't know if this feature makes sense for the use cases of these
drivers.

Fix the warning:

the function __init gunzip().
etc..
Within decompress.c, compressed_formats[] needs 'a __initdata annotation',
because some of it's data members refer to functions which will be
unloaded after init.
Consequently, its user decompress_method() will get the __init prefix.
