2017-11-27ACPICA: Dispatcher: Introduce timeout mechanism for infinite loop detectionLv Zheng1-1/+0
ACPICA commit 9605023e7e6d1f05581502766c8cf2905bcc03d9 This patch implements a new infinite loop detection mechanism to replace the old one, it uses acpi_os_get_timer() to limit loop execution into a determined time slice. This is useful in case some hardware/firmware operations really require the AML interpreter to wait while the old mechanism could expire too fast on recent machines. The new mechanism converts old acpi_gbl_max_loop_iterations to store the user configurable value for the new mechanism in order to allow users to be still able to configure this value for acpiexec via command line. This patch also removes wrong initilization code of acpi_gbl_max_loop_iterations accordingly (it should have been initialized by ACPI_INIT_GLOBAL, and the default value is also properly tuned for acpiexec). ACPICA commit 31178590dde82368fdb0f6b0e466b6c0add96c57 We can ensure no early _REG evaluations by ensuring the following rules in acpi_ev_execute_reg_method(): 1. If an address space handler is installed during early stage, _REG(CONNECT) evaluations are blocked. This is achieved using acpi_gbl_reg_methods_enabled which is renamed from acpi_gbl_reg_methods_executed. 2. If _REG(CONNECT) has never been evalauted for the region object, _REG(DISCONNECT) evaluations are blocked. This is achieved by a new region object flag: AOPOBJ_REG_CONNECTED. Note that, after applying this patch, we can ensure _REG(DISCONNECT) is always paired to _REG(CONNECT). 2015-10-22ACPICA: Debugger: Fix "quit/exit" command by cleaning up user commands termination logicLv Zheng1-2/+0
ACPICA commit 0dd68e16274cd38224aa4781eddc57dc2cbaa108 The quit/exit commands shouldn't invoke acpi_terminate_debugger() and acpi_terminate() right in the user command loop, because when the debugger exits, the kernel ACPI subsystem shouldn't be terminated (acpi_terminate()) and the debugger should only be terminated by its users (acpi_terminate_debugger()) rather than being terminated itself. Leaving such invocations causes kernel panic when the debugger is shipped in the Linux kernel. This patch fixes this issue. Lv Zheng. 2015-07-23ACPICA: Executer: Add interpreter tracing mode for method tracing facilityLv Zheng1-2/+0
ACPICA commit 07fffd02607685b655ed92ee15c160e6a810b60b The acpi_debug_trace() is the mechanism known as ACPI method tracing that is used by Linux as ACPICA debugging message reducer. This facility can be controlled through Linux ACPI subsystem - /sys/module/acpi/parameters. This facility requires CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUG to be enabled to see ACPICA trace logs in the kernel dmesg output. This patch enhances acpi_debug_trace() to make it not only a message reducer, but a real tracer to trace AML interpreter execution. Note that in addition to the AML tracer enabling, this patch also updates the facility with the following enhancements: 1. Allow a full path to be specified by the acpi_debug_trace() API. 2. Allow any method rather than just the entrance of acpi_evaluate_object() to be traced. 3. All interpreter ACPI_LV_TRACE_POINT messages are collected for ACPI_EXECUTER layer. The Makefile of drivers/acpi/acpica is also updated to include exdebug.o and the duplicated stubs are removed after that. Note that since this patch has enhanced the method tracing facility, Linux need also be updated after applying this patch. Lv Zheng. 2014-07-08ACPICA: OSL: Clean up acpi_os_printf()/acpi_os_vprintf() stubsLv Zheng1-1/+0
This patch is mainly for acpidump where there are redundant acpi_os_printf()/acpi_os_vprintf() stubs implemented. This patch cleans up such specific implementation by linking acpidump to osunixxf.c/oswinxf.c. To make acpi_os_printf() exported by osunixxf.c/oswinxf.c to behave as the old acpidump specific ones, applications need to: 1. Initialize acpi_gbl_db_output_flags to ACPI_DB_CONSOLE_OUTPUT. This is automatically done by ACPI_INIT_GLOBAL(), applications need to link utglobal.o to utilize this mechanism. 2. Initialize acpi_gbl_output_file to stdout. For GCC, assigning stdout to acpi_gbl_output_file using ACPI_INIT_GLOBAL() is not possible as stdout is not a constant in GCC environment. As an alternative solution, stdout assignment is put into acpi_os_initialize(). Thus acpi_os_initialize() need to be invoked very early by the applications to initialize the default output of acpi_os_printf(). This patch also releases osunixxf.c to the Linux kernel. Lv Zheng. 2014-07-08ACPICA: Utilities: Cleanup DEFINE_ACPI_GLOBALS by moving acpi_ut_init_global() from utglobal.c to utinit.cLv Zheng1-0/+146
The utglobal.c is used to define and initialize global variables. It makes sense if just adding utglobal.o to applications that are using such variables. But acpi_ut_init_globals() is preventing us from doing so as this initialization function references other components' initializations code, which leads to the requirement that many files should also get linked if one wants to link utglobal.o. It is possible to just move acpi_ut_init_global() to utinit.c for applications that require this function to link. By linking utglobal.o, we can stop defining DEFINE_ACPI_GLOBALS for applications (currently only acpidump is affected). Lv Zheng. 2010-10-01ACPICA/ACPI: Add new host interfaces for _OSI supportLin Ming1-0/+4
Adds install/remove interfaces so that the host can dynamically alter the global _OSI table. Also adds support for _OSI handlers. Additional support: new debugger command (osi), and test support in the acpiexec utility. Adds new file, utilities/utosi.c. ACPICA bugzilla 836. The Linux OSL _OSI code is also changed. acpi_osi_setup can't call acpi_install/remove_interface because ACPICA is not initialized yet at this early time.
