Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij: "This time very little driver changes but lots of core changes. We have some interesting cooperative work for ARM and Intel alike, making the GPIO subsystem more and more suitable for industrial systems and the like, in addition to the in-kernel users. We touch driver core (device properties) and lib/* by adding one simple string array free function, these are authored by Andy Shevchenko who is a well known and recognized core helpers maintainers so this should be fine. We also see some Android GKI-related modularization in the MXC drivers. Core changes: - The big core change is the updated (v2) userspace character device API. This corrects badly designed 64-bit alignment around the line events. We also add the debounce request feature. This echoes the often quotes passage from Frederick Brooks "The mythical man-month" to always throw one away, which we have seen before in things such as V4L2. So we put in a new one and deprecate and obsolete the old one. - All example tools in tools/gpio/* are migrated to the new API to set a good example. The libgpiod userspace library has been augmented to use this new API pretty much from day 1. - Some misc API hardening by using strn* function calls has been added as well. - Use the simpler IDA interface for GPIO chip instance enumeration. - Add device core function for counting string arrays in device properties. - Provide a generic library function kfree_strarray() that can be used throughout the kernel. 2020-09-09gpio: tc35894: Disable Direct KBD interrupts to enable gpio irqdillon min1-2/+16
On tc35894, have to disable direct keypad interrupts to make it as general purpose interrupts functionality work. if not, after chip reset, IRQST(0x91) will always 0x20, IRQN always low level, can't be clear. Configure DIRECTx to enable general purpose gpio mode, else read GPIOMISx register always zero in irq routine. verified on tc35894, need more test on other tc3589x. The offset of regmap is incorrect, j * 8 is move to the wrong register. for example: asume i = 0, j = 1. we want to set KPY5 as interrupt falling edge mode, regmap[0][1] should be TC3589x_GPIOIBE1 0xcd but, regmap[i] + j * 8 = TC3589x_GPIOIBE0 + 8 ,point to 0xd4, this is TC3589x_GPIOIE2 not TC3589x_GPIOIBE1. It's hard for occasional GPIO code reader/writer to know if values 0/1 equal to IN or OUT. Use defined GPIO_LINE_DIRECTION_IN and GPIO_LINE_DIRECTION_OUT to help them out. 2017-01-26pinctrl / gpio: Introduce .set_config() callback for GPIO chipsMika Westerberg1-8/+7
Currently we already have two pin configuration related callbacks available for GPIO chips .set_single_ended() and .set_debounce(). In future we expect to have even more, which does not scale well if we need to add yet another callback to the GPIO chip structure for each possible configuration parameter. Better solution is to reuse what we already have available in the generic pinconf. To support this, we introduce a new .set_config() callback for GPIO chips. The callback takes a single packed pin configuration value as parameter. This can then be extended easily beyond what is currently supported by just adding new types to the generic pinconf enum. If the GPIO driver is backed up by a pinctrl driver the GPIO driver can just assign gpiochip_generic_config() (introduced in this patch) to .set_config and that will take care configuration requests are directed to the pinctrl driver. We then convert the existing drivers over .set_config() and finally remove the .set_single_ended() and .set_debounce() callbacks. 2016-11-25gpio: simplify adding threaded interruptsLinus Walleij1-9/+8
This tries to simplify the use of CONFIG_GPIOLIB_IRQCHIP when using threaded interrupts: add a new call gpiochip_irqchip_add_nested() to indicate that we're dealing with a nested rather than a chained irqchip, then create a separate gpiochip_set_nested_irqchip() to mirror the gpiochip_set_chained_irqchip() call to connect the parent and child interrupts. In the nested case gpiochip_set_nested_irqchip() does nothing more than call irq_set_parent() on each valid child interrupt, which has little semantic effect in the kernel, but this is probably still formally correct. Update all drivers using nested interrupts to use gpiochip_irqchip_add_nested() so we can now see clearly which these users are. The DLN2 driver can drop its specific hack with .irq_not_threaded as we now recognize whether a chip is threaded or not from its use of gpiochip_irqchip_add_nested() signature rather than from inspecting .can_sleep. We rename the .irq_parent to .irq_chained_parent since this parent IRQ is only really kept around for the chained interrupt handlers. The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is: drivers/gpio/Kconfig:config GPIO_TC3589X drivers/gpio/Kconfig: bool "TC3589X GPIOs" ...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone. Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only. Since module_init was not in use by this code, the init ordering remains unchanged with this commit. We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag etc. since all that information is already contained at the top of the file in the comments. 2016-04-05gpio: tc3589x: implement open drain/source callbackLinus Walleij1-0/+41
This makes use of the new .set_single_ended() callback to set the GPIO line as open drain/open source using hardware. The TC3589x can do this by either disabling the N-MOS transistor (open drain) or the P-MOS transistor (open source) of the output driver stage, in the first case making the signal drive actively low and high impedance as "high" and in the second case actively high and high impedance, which is as close to native open drain support as we come. The name .dev in a struct is normally reserved for a struct device that is let us say a superclass to the thing described by the struct. struct gpio_chip stands out by confusingly using a struct device *dev to point to the parent device (such as a platform_device) that represents the hardware. As we want to give gpio_chip:s real devices, this is not working. We need to rename this member to parent. This was done by two coccinelle scripts, I guess it is possible to combine them into one, but I don't know such stuff. To unify how we connect cascaded IRQ chips to parent IRQs, if NULL us passed as handler to the gpiochip_set_chained_irqchip() function, assume the chips is nested rather than chained, and we still get the parent set up correctly by way of this function call. This switches the two members of struct gpio_chip that were defined as unsigned foo:1 to bool, because that is indeed what they are. Switch all users in the gpio and pinctrl subsystems to assign these values with true/false instead of 0/1. Pull driver core updates from Greg Kroah-Hartman: "Here's the large driver core updates for 3.8-rc1. The biggest thing here is the various __dev* marking removals. This is going to be a pain for the merge with different subsystem trees, I know, but all of the patches included here have been ACKed by their various subsystem maintainers, as they wanted them to go through here. If this is too much of a pain, I can pull all of them out of this tree and just send you one with the other fixes/updates and then, after 3.8-rc1 is out, do the rest of the removals to ensure we catch them all, it's up to you. The merges should all be trivial, and Stephen has been doing them all in linux-next for a few weeks now quite easily. Other than the __dev* marking removals, there's nothing major here, some firmware loading updates and other minor things in the driver core. All of these have (much to Stephen's annoyance), been in linux-next for a while. The special checks for whether we have a base IRQ offset or not is surplus if we use the simple IRQ domain. The IRQ offset zero will be interpreted as a linear domain case. Plus this makes sure we allocate descriptors where need be, or warn if they are preallocated with SPARSE_IRQ.
