[Why]
1. No real HPD plug in/out but HPD happens,
the driver notifies OS connection changed.
2. No display in target.
When HPD goes low to high,
the driver should regard as HPD and enter setmode flow.
[How]
In this case, even stream didn't change but still retrain.

Refactor dp vendor parsing int to a new function, and call it before
get_active_converter_info().
Also, add a flag to skip parsing of Display ID 2.0. Some devices fail on
readind DID2, but we shouldn't fail EDID read because of it. Add this
flag to facilitate the logic.

[why]
when preferred link cap is set, we should always use
preferred in all validation.
we should not use preferred for some validation but use
verified for others.
[how]
create getter function that gets verified link cap.
if preferred is set, return preferred link settings instead.

[why]
Currently link bandwidth is calculated in two places, using the same
formula. They should be unified into calling one function.

Replace all implementations of link bandwidth calculation with a call
to a function.

[why]
The existing calculation uses a wrong formula to
calculate bandwidth from timing.
[how]
Expose the existing proper function that calculates the bandwidth,
so dc_link can use it to calculate timing bandwidth correctly.

[Why]
Need to understand whether link is active aside from stream state.
This could be used to check what links are enabled by GOP.
[How]
Store link_active state in link status and initialize it by checking
if the DIG is enabled.
Keep it updated on every link enable and disable

[Why]
When querying HPD via GPIO flow,
it will create a new gpio object then free in the end of query.
There is a irql issue for HPD querying at ISR level.
[How]
Therefore, creating the HPD gpio object in dc_link and set it as unlcok in default.
1. reducing unnecessary malloc/free when HPD querying.
2. reducing init GPIO flow.
3. add lock/unlock to prevent multi gpio service running.

[Why]
Backlight is conceptually a property of links, not streams.
All backlight programming is done on links, but there is a
stream property bl_pwm_level that is used to restore backlight
on dpms on and s3 resume. This is unnecessary, as backlight
is already restored by hardware with no driver intervention.
[How]
Remove bl_pwm_level, and the stream argument to set_backlight

[why]
dc_stream_state containing a pointer to sink is poor design.
Sink describes the display, and the specifications or capabilities
it has. That information is irrelevant for dc_stream_state, which describes
hardware state, and is generally used for hardware programming. It
could further be argued that dc_sink itself is just a convenience dc
provides, and DC should be perfectly capable of programming hardware
without any dc_sinks (for example, emulated sinks).
[how]
Phase 1:
Deprecate use of dc_sink pointer in dc_stream. Most references are trivial
to remove, but some call sites are risky (such as is_timing_changed) with
no obvious logical replacement. These will be removed in follow up change.
Add dc_link pointer to dc_stream. This is the typical reason DC really needed
sink pointer, and most call sites are replaced with this.
DMs also need minor updates, as all 3 DMs leverage stream->sink for
some functionality. this is replaced instead by a pointer to private data
inside dc_stream_state, which is used by DMs as a quality of life improvment
for some key functionality. it allows DMs to set pointers have to their own objects
which associate OS objects to dc_stream_states (such as DisplayTarget
and amdgpu_dm_connector). Without the private pointer, DMs would be
forced to perform a lookup for callbacks.

[Why]
There are a lot of unintuitive parts of the dm-dc interface.
It would help us if these were documented to provide
a common understanding of what they are supposed to do
[How]
Most of this documentation is stubs, to be filled out more
thoroughly by the experts
Not every dm-accessible function and struct is mentioned.
Simple functions like getters, setters, retain, release,
create, destroy can be left unadorned.

[Why] We want to increase precision for backlight setting.
But DC interface takes 8 bit backlight level value only.
[How] DMCU already takes 16 bit backlight level.
Expand the DC interface to take 16.16 bit value.
Max 32 bit backlight value (0xFFFF) will represent
max backlight (100%)

[Why]
EDID emulation didn't work properly for linux, as we stop programming
if nothing is connected physically.
[How]
We get a flag from DRM when we want to do edid emulation. We check if
this flag is true and nothing is connected physically, if so we only
program the front end using VIRTUAL_SIGNAL.

[Why]

is used in a few places throughout the kernel to setup or force
update on backlight

Create a dc function that calls the existing abm function, and
call that function from amdgpu

Access to GPIO needs to be serialized. Aux transactions are already
serialized in DRM but we also need to serialize access to the GPIO pin
for purposes of DP dongle detection.
Call is_dp_sink_present through DM so we can lock correctly. This
follows the same pattern used for DPCD transactions.

As per eDP 1.4 spec, there must be at least 500ms delay
between eDP power off and on.
This change added time stamp when edp power off, which can
be used to calculate duration time when edp power on.
If duration less than 500ms, add a wait.
