2020-10-21drm: Introduce plane and CRTC scaling filter propertiesPankaj Bharadiya1-0/+3
Introduce per-plane and per-CRTC scaling filter properties to allow userspace to select the driver's default scaling filter or Nearest-neighbor(NN) filter for upscaling operations on CRTC and plane. Drivers can set up this property for a plane by calling drm_plane_create_scaling_filter() and for a CRTC by calling drm_crtc_create_scaling_filter(). NN filter works by filling in the missing color values in the upscaled image with that of the coordinate-mapped nearest source pixel value. NN filter for integer multiple scaling can be particularly useful for for pixel art games that rely on sharp, blocky images to deliver their distinctive look. changes since: v6: * Move property doc to existing "Standard CRTC Properties" and "Plane Composition Properties" doc comments (Simon) changes since v3: * Refactor code, add new function for common code (Ville) changes since v2: * Create per-plane and per-CRTC scaling filter property (Ville) changes since v1: * None changes since RFC: * Add separate properties for plane and CRTC (Ville) Link: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/18194 Link: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/18567 Reviewed-by: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: Uma Shankar <uma.shankar@intel.com> Acked-by: Simon Ser <contact@emersion.fr> Acked-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel@ffwll.ch> Signed-off-by: Pankaj Bharadiya <pankaj.laxminarayan.bharadiya@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20201020161427.6941-2-pankaj.laxminarayan.bharadiya@intel.com
2020-03-18drm: convert .debugfs_init() hook to return void.Wambui Karuga1-1/+1
As a result of commit 987d65d01356 (drm: debugfs: make drm_debugfs_create_files() never fail) and changes to various debugfs functions in drm/core and across various drivers, there is no need for the drm_driver.debugfs_init() hook to have a return value. Therefore, declare it as void. This also includes refactoring all users of the .debugfs_init() hook to return void across the subsystem. v2: include changes to the hook and drivers that use it in one patch to prevent driver breakage and enable individual successful compilation of this change. 2020-03-18drm: Include the encoder itself in possible_clonesVille Syrjälä1-0/+1
The docs say possible_clones should always include the encoder itself. Since most drivers don't want to deal with the complexities of cloning let's allow them to set possible_clones=0 and instead we'll fix that up in the core. We can't put this special case into drm_encoder_init() because drivers will have to fill up possible_clones after adding all the relevant encoders. Otherwise they wouldn't know the proper encoder indexes to use. So we'll just do it just before registering the device. v2: Don't set the bit if possible_clones!=0 so that the validation (coming soon) will WARN (Thomas) Fix up the docs to allow possible_clones==0 (Daniel) .late_register() is too late, introduce drm_mode_config_validate() which gets called _before_ we register the char device (Daniel) Acked-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Cc: Daniel Vetter <daniel@ffwll.ch> Signed-off-by: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20200211162208.16224-2-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com Reviewed-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>
2020-03-18drm/edid: Fix DispID tile parsing for override EDIDVille Syrjälä1-0/+1
Currently the DispID tile block gets parsed in drm_get_edid(), which is an odd place for it considering we parse nothing else there. Also this doesn't work for override EDIDs since drm_connector_update_edid_property() refuses to do its job twice in such cases. Thus we never update the tile property with results of the DispID tile block parsing during drm_get_edid(). To fix this let's just move the tile block parsing to happen during drm_connector_update_edid_property(), which is where we parse a bunch of other stuff as well (and where we update both the EDID and tile properties). 2017-08-08drm: Handle properties in the core for atomic driversDaniel Vetter1-0/+7
The reason behind the original indirection through the helper functions was to allow existing drivers to overwrite how they handle properties. For example when a vendor-specific userspace had expectations that didn't match atomic. That seemed likely, since atomic is standardizing a _lot_ more of the behaviour of a kms driver. But 20 drivers later there's no such need at all. Worse, this forces all drivers to hook up the default behaviour, breaking userspace if they forget to do that. And it forces us to export a bunch of core function just for those helpers. And finally, these helpers are the last places using drm_atomic_legacy_backoff() and the implicit acquire_ctx. This patch here just implements the new behaviour and updates the docs. Follow-up patches will garbage-collect all the dead code. v2: Fixup docs even better! v3: Make it actually work ... v4: Drop the uses_atomic_modeset() checks from the previous patch again, since they're now moved up in the callchain. 2016-11-16drm/fence: add fence timeline to drm_crtcGustavo Padovan1-0/+2
Create one timeline context for each CRTC to be able to handle out-fences and signal them. It adds a few members to struct drm_crtc: fence_context, where we store the context we get from fence_context_alloc(), the fence seqno and the fence lock, that we pass in fence_init() to be used by the fence. v2: Comment by Daniel Stone: - add BUG_ON() to fence_to_crtc() macro v3: Comment by Ville Syrjälä - Use more meaningful name as crtc timeline name v4: Comments by Brian Starkey - Use even more meaninful name for the crtc timeline - add doc for timeline_name Comment by Daniel Vetter - use in-line style for comments - rebase after fence -> dma_fence rename v5: Comment by Daniel Vetter - Add doc for drm_crtc_fence_ops v6: Comment by Chris Wilson - Move fence_to_crtc to drm_crtc.c - Move export of drm_crtc_fence_ops to drm_crtc_internal.h - rebase against latest drm-misc Signed-off-by: Gustavo Padovan <gustavo.padovan@collabora.co.uk> Reviewed-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> (v5) Reviewed-by: Sean Paul <seanpaul@chromium.org> (v5) Tested-by: Robert Foss <robert.foss@collabora.com> (v5) Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/1479220628-10204-1-git-send-email-gustavo@padovan.org

2016-09-12drm: Move property validation to a helper, v2.Maarten Lankhorst1-0/+2
Property lifetimes are equal to the device lifetime, so the separate drm_property_find is not needed. The pointer can be retrieved from the properties member, which saves us some locking and a extra lookup. The lifetime for properties is until the device is destroyed, which happens late in the device unload path. kms_atomic is also testing for invalid properties which returns -ENOENT, to be consistent return -ENOENT for valid properties that don't appear on the object property list. Changes since v1: - Return -ENOENT for invalid properties to make kms_atomic pass. - Change commit message slightly to take this into account. 2016-08-29drm: Extract drm_mode_object.[hc]Daniel Vetter1-23/+29
Just for the struct drm_mode_object base class. The header file was already partially extracted to help untangle the include loops. v2: - Also move the generic get/set property ioctls. At first this seemed like a bad idea since it requires making drm_mode_crtc_set_obj_prop non-static. But eventually that will get split away too (like the connector version already is) for both crtc and planes. Hence I reconsidered. - drm_mode_object.[hc] instead of drm_modeset.[hc], which requires renaming the drm_modeset.h header I already started building up. This is more consistent (matches the name of the main structure), and I want to be able to use drm_modeset.[hc] for the basic modeset init/cleanup functionality like drm_mode_config_init. 2016-08-16drm/doc: Include new drm_blend.cDaniel Vetter1-2/+2
There's not much point in kerneldoc if it's not included: - It won't show up in the pretty html pages. - The comments itself won't get parsed, which means 0day won't pick up changes, resulting in stale docs fast. Also, uapi really should be core, not helpers, so move drm_blend.c to that. That also means that the zpos normilize function loses it's helper status (and we might as well call it always). For that, EXPORT_SYMBOL. Just spotted while integrating docs and noticing that one was missing. Also had to move a few more core kms object stuff into drm_modeset.h.
