2019-05-03drm/i915: extract intel_lpe_audio.h from i915_drv.hJani Nikula1-1/+1
It used to be handy that we only had a couple of headers, but over time i915_drv.h has become unwieldy. Extract declarations to a separate header file corresponding to the implementation module, clarifying the modularity of the driver. Ensure the new header is self-contained, and do so with minimal further includes, using forward declarations as needed. Include the new header only where needed, and sort the modified include directives while at it and as needed. No functional changes. 2019-05-02drm/i915: Don't skip audio enable if ELD is bogusVille Syrjälä1-1/+3
We've already committed to enabling audio when intel_audio_codec_enable() is called. We can't back out even if the ELD has turned sour in the meantime. So just spew some debug log and plow ahead. Otherwise the state checker gets unhappy when audio isn't enabled when it is expected to be. I suppose we really ought to precompute the ELD as well, but let's just toss in a FIXME for the future. 2019-02-14snd/hda, drm/i915: Track the display_power_status using a cookieChris Wilson1-9/+14
drm/i915 is tracking all wakeref owners with a cookie in order to identify leaks. To that end, each rpm acquisition ops->get_power is assigned a cookie which should be passed to ops->put_power to signify its release (and removal from the list of wakeref owners). As snd/hda is already using a bool to track current status of display_power extending that to an unsigned long to hold the boolean cookie is a trivial extension, and will quell all doubt that snd/hda is the cause of the device runtime pm leaks. v2: Keep using the power abstraction for local wakeref tracking. v3: BUILD_BUG_ON impedance mismatch Signed-off-by: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> Cc: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Cc: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Acked-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Mika Kuoppala <mika.kuoppala@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20190213152109.16997-1-chris@chris-wilson.co.uk

2019-01-14drm/i915: Markup paired operations on display power domainsChris Wilson1-1/+2
The majority of runtime-pm operations are bounded and scoped within a function; these are easy to verify that the wakeref are handled correctly. We can employ the compiler to help us, and reduce the number of wakerefs tracked when debugging, by passing around cookies provided by the various rpm_get functions to their rpm_put counterpart. This makes the pairing explicit, and given the required wakeref cookie the compiler can verify that we pass an initialised value to the rpm_put (quite handy for double checking error paths). 2018-10-25drm/i915: Ensure proper HDA suspend/resume ordering with a device linkImre Deak1-0/+5
In order to ensure that our system suspend and resume callbacks are called in the correct order wrt. those of the HDA driver add a device link to the HDA driver during audio component binding time. With i915 as the supplier and HDA as the consumer the PM framework will guarantee the HDA->i915 suspend (and shutdown) and i915->HDA resume order. Atm, the lack of this ordering is not a problem, since all the i915 suspend/resume steps that need to be ordered wrt. the HDA driver's suspend/resume steps are separated out to the i915 suspend_late/resume_early hooks. That will change in a follow-up patchset where we'll need this ordering guarantee for steps that are in the i915 suspend/resume hooks (and which can't be moved to suspend_late/resume_early for other reasons). So this patch is a preparation for that follow-up patchset. The change also allows us to move towards removing the i915 suspend_late/resume_early hooks alltogether. Since we only need to ensure the ordering during suspend/resume and not during driver probing create the link with DL_FLAG_STATELESS. Since the probe time ordering has to be optional we use the component framework for that. Similarly for runtime PM we depend on the audio driver getting/putting an i915 runtime PM reference whenever it needs it (along with the proper i915 display power domain) via the audio component ops get_power / put_power hooks. So we create the device link without DL_FLAG_PM_RUNTIME. v2: (Ville) - Add a note to the commit message about not using the device link runtime PM ordering. - Handle the error return from device_link_add(). 2017-10-31drm/i915: Remove most encoder->type uses from the audio codeVille Syrjälä1-3/+3
encoder->type isn't genreally safe around DDI ports, so let's replace some uses in the audio code with the crtc state's output_types instead. Actually in these cases encoder->type would work since the DP SST case is only relevant for VLV/CHV and encoder->type==DP is a thing on those platforms. The DP MST cases would work as well since MST encoder->type==DP_MST always. But I think it's best to try and minimize the encoder->type use in general to avoid showing a bad example to people. Explicitly pass the crtc and connector states into the audio code enable/disable hooks, and plumb them all the way down. This gets rid of almost all crtc->config and encoder->crtc uses. The one place where we still use them is i915_audio_component_sync_audio_rate() since that gets called from the audio driver and we don't have explicit states around then. 2017-09-20drm/i915: always update ELD connector type after get modesJani Nikula1-5/+0
drm_edid_to_eld() initializes the connector ELD to zero, overwriting the ELD connector type initialized in intel_audio_codec_enable(). If userspace does getconnector and thus get_modes after modeset, a subsequent audio component i915_audio_component_get_eld() call will receive an ELD without the connector type properly set. It's fine for HDMI, but screws up audio for DP. Always set the ELD connector type at intel_connector_update_modes() based on the connector type. Introduce intel_cdclk state which for now will track the cdclk frequency, the vco frequency and the reference frequency (not sure we want the last one, but I put it there anyway). We'll also make the .get_cdclk() function fill out this state structure rather than just returning the current cdclk frequency. One immediate benefit is that calling .get_cdclk() will no longer clobber state stored under dev_priv unless ex[plicitly told to do so. Previously it clobbered the vco and reference clocks stored there on some platforms. 2016-12-02drm/i915/audio: extend get_saved_enc() to support more scenariosLibin Yang1-4/+28
In initialization, audio driver will call functions get_eld() and etc. But at that time, audio driver may not know whether it is DP MST or not. In the original function get_saved_enc(), if it is DP MST, it requires to set the pipe to the correct value, otherwise, pipe to be -1. Although audio driver can get the knowledge whether it is in DP MST mode or not by reading the codec register. It will drop performance each time before it calls the get_eld and other similar functions. As gfx driver can easily know whether it is in DP MST mode or not. Let's extend the get_saved_enc() function to handle the situation that audio driver still sends the device id info even it is in DP SST mode and return the correct intel_encoder instead of panic.
