We will meet below issue due to mutex_lock() is called in interrupt context. The mutex lock is used to protect the pattern trigger data, but before changing new pattern trigger data (pattern values or repeat value) by users, we always cancel the timer firstly to clear previous patterns' performance. That means there is no race in pattern_trig_timer_function(), so we can drop the mutex lock in pattern_trig_timer_function() to avoid this issue. Moreover we can move the timer cancelling into mutex protection, since there is no deadlock risk if we remove the mutex lock in pattern_trig_timer_function(). 2018-10-26leds: gpio: set led_dat->gpiod pointer for OF defined GPIO ledsLiviu Dudau1-0/+2
Commit 45d4c6de4e49 ("leds: gpio: Try to lookup gpiod from device") removed the common code path that set the led_dat->gpiod pointer in create_gpio_led(), but only added it back for the devices that have a valid gpio_led_platform_data structure. Calling gpio_leds_create() in gpio_led_probe() is not enough to get a valid gpiod pointer. Fortunately enough, gpio_leds_create() already gets the needed pointer, we just need to assign it to the relevant gpio_led_data structure. 2018-10-11leds: core: Introduce LED pattern triggerBaolin Wang3-0/+419
This patch adds a new LED trigger that LED device can configure to employ software or hardware pattern engine. Consumers can write 'pattern' file to enable the software pattern which alters the brightness for the specified duration with one software timer. Moreover consumers can write 'hw_pattern' file to enable the hardware pattern for some LED controllers which can autonomously control brightness over time, according to some preprogrammed hardware patterns. 2018-09-10leds: gpio: Try to lookup gpiod from deviceLinus Walleij1-30/+62
This augments the GPIO lookup code in the GPIO LEDs to attempt to look up a GPIO descriptor from the device with index. This makes it possible to use GPIO machine look-up tables and stop passing global GPIO numbers through platform data. Using this we can stepwise convert existing board files to use machine descriptor tables and then eventually drop the legacy GPIO support and only include <linux/gpio/consumer.h> and use descriptors exclusively. Given that activating a trigger can fail, let the callback return an indication. This prevents to have a trigger active according to the "trigger" sysfs attribute but not functional. In preparation to DT probe functionality, merge create_lt3593_led() into its only call-site. The DT based setup code will be quite different, so this internal helper function is of no help. This also changes the way the driver works by only handling one entry inside 'struct gpio_led_platform_data'. If multiple devices of the same type are found in a design, there should be a platform device for each of them. The only mainline user of this driver is not affected by this change. Last, use devm_led_classdev_register() instead of led_classdev_register(), so the driver's remove callback can go away. The devm_kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, devm_kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) with: devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp) with: devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. Some manual whitespace fixes were needed in this patch, as Coccinelle really liked to write "=devm_kcalloc..." instead of "= devm_kcalloc...". This adds two new disk triggers for triggering on reads and writes respectively, named "disk-read" and "disk-write". The use case comes from working on the D-Link DNS-313 NAS box. This features an RGB LED for disk activity. with these two triggers I can couple the green LED to read activity and the red LED to write activity, which gives the appropriate user feedback about what is happening on the disk. When tested it gave exactly the feedback desired. The in-kernel interface is simply changed to pass a bool indicating if the activity is write activity and update each trigger (and the composite "disk-activity" trigger) depending on what is passed in.
