2019-08-14media: media/tuners: Use kmemdup rather than duplicating its implementationFuqian Huang1-2/+1
kmemdup is introduced to duplicate a region of memory in a neat way. Rather than kmalloc/kzalloc + memcpy, which the programmer needs to write the size twice (sometimes lead to mistakes), kmemdup improves readability, leads to smaller code and also reduce the chances of mistakes. Suggestion to use kmemdup rather than using kmalloc/kzalloc + memcpy. 2018-08-02media: dvb: convert tuner_info frequencies to HzMauro Carvalho Chehab1-3/+3
Right now, satellite tuner drivers specify frequencies in kHz, while terrestrial/cable ones specify in Hz. That's confusing for developers. However, the main problem is that universal tuners capable of handling both satellite and non-satelite delivery systems are appearing. We end by needing to hack the drivers in order to support such hybrid tuners. So, convert everything to specify tuner frequencies in Hz. Plese notice that a similar patch is also needed for frontends. For the files written before I join Samsung (on July, 4 2013), let's just use mchehab@kernel.org. For bug reports, we can simply point to just kernel.org, as this will reach my mchehab+samsung inbox anyway. As we're now using SPDX identifiers, on the several media drivers I wrote, add the proper SPDX, identifying the license I meant. As we're now using the short license, it doesn't make sense to keep the original license text. Also, fix MODULE_LICENSE to properly identify GPL v2. 2016-11-23xc2028: Fix use-after-free bug properlyTakashi Iwai1-21/+16
The commit 8dfbcc4351a0 ("[media] xc2028: avoid use after free") tried to address the reported use-after-free by clearing the reference. However, it's clearing the wrong pointer; it sets NULL to priv->ctrl.fname, but it's anyway overwritten by the next line memcpy(&priv->ctrl, p, sizeof(priv->ctrl)). OTOH, the actual code accessing the freed string is the strcmp() call with priv->fname: if (!firmware_name[0] && p->fname && priv->fname && strcmp(p->fname, priv->fname)) free_firmware(priv); where priv->fname points to the previous file name, and this was already freed by kfree(). Dynamic static allocation is evil, as Kernel stack is too low, and compilation complains about it on some archs: drivers/media/tuners/tuner-xc2028.c:651:1: warning: 'load_firmware' uses dynamic stack allocation [enabled by default] Instead, let's enforce a limit for the buffer. In the specific case of this driver, the maximum limit is 80, used only on tm6000 driver. This limit is due to the size of the USB control URBs. Ok, it would be theoretically possible to use a bigger size on PCI devices, but the firmware load time is already good enough. Anyway, if some usage requires more, it is just a matter of also increasing the buffer size at load_firmware().
