2020-05-26mfd: wm8994: Fix unbalanced calls to regulator_bulk_disable()Marek Szyprowski1-0/+3
When runtime PM is enabled, regulators are being controlled by the driver's suspend and resume callbacks. They are also unconditionally enabled at driver's probe(), and disabled in remove() functions. Add more calls to runtime PM framework to ensure that the device's runtime PM state matches the regulators state: 1. at the end of probe() function: set runtime PM state to active, so there will be no spurious call to resume(); 2. in remove(), ensure that resume() is called before disabling runtime PM management and unconditionally disabling the regulators. 2020-05-26mfd: wm8994: Fix driver operation if loaded as modulesMarek Szyprowski1-0/+1
WM8994 chip has built-in regulators, which might be used for chip operation. They are controlled by a separate wm8994-regulator driver, which should be loaded before this driver calls regulator_get(), because that driver also provides consumer-supply mapping for the them. If that driver is not yet loaded, regulator core substitute them with dummy regulator, what breaks chip operation, because the built-in regulators are never enabled. Fix this by annotating this driver with MODULE_SOFTDEP() "pre" dependency to "wm8994_regulator" module. 2018-11-15regulator: wm8994: Pass descriptor instead of GPIO numberLinus Walleij1-9/+0
Instead of passing a global GPIO number for the enable GPIO, pass a descriptor looked up from the device tree node or the board file decriptor table for the regulator. There is a single board file passing the GPIOs for LDO1 and LDO2 through platform data, so augment this to pass descriptors associated with the i2c device as well. The special GPIO enable DT property for the enable GPIO is nonstandard but this was accomodated in commit 6a537d48461deacc57c07ed86d9915e5aa4b3539 "gpio: of: Support regulator nonstandard GPIO properties". The devm_kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, devm_kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) with: devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp) with: devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. Some manual whitespace fixes were needed in this patch, as Coccinelle really liked to write "=devm_kcalloc..." instead of "= devm_kcalloc...". 2016-11-29mfd: wm8994-core: Don't use managed regulator bulk get APIViresh Kumar1-3/+11
The kernel WARNs and then crashes today if wm8994_device_init() fails after calling devm_regulator_bulk_get(). That happens because there are multiple devices involved here and the order in which managed resources are freed isn't correct. The regulators are added as children of wm8994->dev. Whereas, devm_regulator_bulk_get() receives wm8994->dev as the device, though it gets the same regulators which were added as children of wm8994->dev earlier. During failures, the children are removed first and the core eventually calls regulator_unregister() for them. As regulator_put() was never done for them (opposite of devm_regulator_bulk_get()), the kernel WARNs at WARN_ON(rdev->open_count); And eventually it crashes from debugfs_remove_recursive(). Fix the kernel warnings and crashes by using regulator_bulk_get() instead of devm_regulator_bulk_get() and explicitly freeing the supplies in exit paths. Tested on Exynos 5250, dual core ARM A15 machine. Fix it by reordering code a bit, which makes it exact opposite of wm8994_device_init() as well. 2015-07-16regmap: Use reg_sequence for multi_reg_write / register_patchNariman Poushin1-4/+4
Separate the functionality using sequences of register writes from the functions that take register defaults. This change renames the arguments in order to support the extension of reg_sequence to take an optional delay to be applied after any given register in a sequence is written. This avoids adding an int to all register defaults, which could substantially increase memory usage for regmaps with large default tables. For realistic systems the power management is controlled entirely via runtime PM - if the device is not runtime suspended then the suspend will abort without doing anything as functionality such as accessory detection or audio bypass will require the device to be enabled while if the device is runtime suspended it is already in the lowest power state. This means that system suspend is redundant and can be removed which avoids issues with attempting to double disable the regulators. Currently the MFD core supports remapping MFD cell interrupts using an irqdomain but only if the MFD is being instantiated using device tree and only if the device tree bindings use the pattern of registering IPs in the device tree with compatible properties. This will be actively harmful for drivers which support non-DT platforms and use this pattern for their DT bindings as it will mean that the core will silently change remapping behaviour and it is also limiting for drivers which don't do DT with this particular pattern. There is also a potential fragility if there are interrupts not associated with MFD cells and all the cells are omitted from the device tree for some reason. Instead change the code to take an IRQ domain as an optional argument, allowing drivers to take the decision about the parent domain for their interrupts. The one current user of this feature is ab8500-core, it has the domain lookup pushed out into the driver.
