2009-06-16page allocator: do not check NUMA node ID when the caller knows the node is validMel Gorman2-2/+2
Callers of alloc_pages_node() can optionally specify -1 as a node to mean "allocate from the current node". However, a number of the callers in fast paths know for a fact their node is valid. To avoid a comparison and branch, this patch adds alloc_pages_exact_node() that only checks the nid with VM_BUG_ON(). Callers that know their node is valid are then converted. 2009-06-15i2c/chips: Move max6875 to drivers/misc/eepromWolfram Sang3-0/+261
This driver only reads the user EEPROM of that chip, so we can move it to the eeprom-directory in order to further clean up (and later remove) drivers/i2c/chips. The Kconfig text was updated to match the current functionality, dropping the meanwhile obsoleted parts. Defconfigs have been adapted. 2009-05-15[SCSI] ses: fix problems caused by empty SES provided nameYinghai Lu1-3/+3
We use the name provided by SES to name objects. An empty name is legal in SES but causes problems in our generic device hierarchy. Fix this by falling back to a number if the name is either NULL or empty. Also fix a secondary bug spotted in that dev_set_name(dev, name) uses a string format and so would go wrong if name contained a '%'. The heartbeat timeout functionality in sgi-xpc is currently not trained to the connection time. If a connection is made and the code is in the last polling window prior to doing a timeout, the next polling window will see the heartbeat as unchanged and initiate a no-heartbeat disconnect. 2009-04-02sgi-gru: remove SGI_GRU as a valid config option for ia64 configs with SGI_UVRobin Holt1-2/+2
Some current configs turn on GRU for ia64. The GRU code does not correctly load on boot on ia64 (GRU does continue to work for x86-64), so changing the IA64 Kconfig to not select GRU on ia64 configs for now until we have time to fix. 2009-04-02memory_accessor: implement the new memory_accessor interface for I2C EEPROMKevin Hilman1-13/+54
In the case of at24, the platform code registers a 'setup' callback with the at24_platform_data. When the at24 driver detects an EEPROM, it fills out the read and write functions of the memory_accessor and calls the setup callback passing the memory_accessor struct. The platform code can then use the read/write functions in the memory_accessor struct for reading and writing the EEPROM. 2009-04-01hpilo: reduce frequency of IO operationsDavid Altobelli2-4/+8
Change hpilo open and close logic to spin for 10usec between checking device, rather than every usec. Because the loop is coded to take up to 10ms, it seemed prudent to increase the interval between polling the device, to reduce the load on the system and allow more other work to happen. A missing type cast results in writing way beyond the end of a kzalloc()'d memory segment resulting in slab corruption. But it seems like the better solution is to define ->recv_msg_slots as a 'void *' rather than a 'struct xpc_notify_mq_msg_uv *' and add the type cast.
