2019-12-12netdev: pass the stuck queue to the timeout handlerMichael S. Tsirkin1-1/+1
This allows incrementing the correct timeout statistic without any mess. Down the road, devices can learn to reset just the specific queue. 2019-11-04net: of_get_phy_mode: Change API to solve int/unit warningsAndrew Lunn1-4/+3
Before this change of_get_phy_mode() returned an enum, phy_interface_t. On error, -ENODEV etc, is returned. If the result of the function is stored in a variable of type phy_interface_t, and the compiler has decided to represent this as an unsigned int, comparision with -ENODEV etc, is a signed vs unsigned comparision. Fix this problem by changing the API. Make the function return an error, or 0 on success, and pass a pointer, of type phy_interface_t, where the phy mode should be stored. v2: Return with *interface set to PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_NA on error. 2017-10-25locking/atomics: COCCINELLE/treewide: Convert trivial ACCESS_ONCE() patterns to READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE()Mark Rutland1-2/+2
Please do not apply this to mainline directly, instead please re-run the coccinelle script shown below and apply its output. For several reasons, it is desirable to use {READ,WRITE}_ONCE() in preference to ACCESS_ONCE(), and new code is expected to use one of the former. So far, there's been no reason to change most existing uses of ACCESS_ONCE(), as these aren't harmful, and changing them results in churn. However, for some features, the read/write distinction is critical to correct operation. To distinguish these cases, separate read/write accessors must be used. This patch migrates (most) remaining ACCESS_ONCE() instances to {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(), using the following coccinelle script: ---- // Convert trivial ACCESS_ONCE() uses to equivalent READ_ONCE() and // WRITE_ONCE() // $ make coccicheck COCCI=/home/mark/once.cocci SPFLAGS="--include-headers" MODE=patch virtual patch @ depends on patch @ expression E1, E2; @@ - ACCESS_ONCE(E1) = E2 + WRITE_ONCE(E1, E2) @ depends on patch @ expression E; @@ - ACCESS_ONCE(E) + READ_ONCE(E) ---- Signed-off-by: Mark Rutland <mark.rutland@arm.com> Signed-off-by: Paul E. 2016-10-13net: deprecate eth_change_mtu, remove usageJarod Wilson1-1/+0
With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it. Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. It's now getting dev->max_mtu also set to 4096 to remedy that. v2: fix up lantiq_etop, missed breakage due to drive not compiling on x86 CC: netdev@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jarod Wilson <jarod@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2015-04-15net: hip04: Make tx coalesce timer actually workThomas Gleixner1-7/+11
The code sets the expiry value of the timer to a relative value and starts it with hrtimer_start_expires. That's fine, but that only works once. The timer is started in relative mode, so the expiry value gets overwritten with the absolut expiry time (now + expiry). So once the timer expired, a new call to hrtimer_start_expires results in an immidiately expired timer, because the expiry value is already in the past.
