2012-12-03i825xx: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton3-9/+9
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. Signed-off-by: Bill Pemberton <wfp5p@virginia.edu> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

2012-11-19net/ethernet: remove useless is_valid_ether_addr from drivers ndo_openJoachim Eastwood1-6/+0
If ndo_validate_addr is set to the generic eth_validate_addr function there is no point in calling is_valid_ether_addr from driver ndo_open if ndo_open is not used elsewhere in the driver. With this change is_valid_ether_addr will be called from the generic eth_validate_addr function. So there should be no change in the actual behavior. 2012-09-22net: Make ZNET driver config depend on X86.David S. Miller1-1/+1
We're now using isa_virt_to_bus(), and there really isn't a generic and consistent test for whether a platform provides this interface or not. This driver is also for an x86-only device. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-09-19i825xx: znet: fix compiler warnings when building a 64-bit kernelMika Westerberg1-2/+2
When building 64-bit kernel with this driver we get following warnings from the compiler: drivers/net/ethernet/i825xx/znet.c: In function ‘hardware_init’: drivers/net/ethernet/i825xx/znet.c:863:29: warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size [-Wpointer-to-int-cast] drivers/net/ethernet/i825xx/znet.c:870:29: warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size [-Wpointer-to-int-cast] Fix these by calling isa_virt_to_bus() before passing the pointers to set_dma_addr(). 2012-09-04i825xx: fix paging fault on znet_probe()Wu Fengguang1-4/+9
In znet_probe(), strncmp() may access beyond 0x100000 and trigger the below oops in kvm. Fix it by limiting the loop under 0x100000-8. I suspect the limit could be further decreased to 0x100000-sizeof(struct netidblk), however no datasheet at hand.. 2012-06-06ethernet: Remove casts to same typeJoe Perches2-6/+6
Adding casts of objects to the same type is unnecessary and confusing for a human reader. For example, this cast: int y; int *p = (int *)&y; I used the coccinelle script below to find and remove these unnecessary casts. I manually removed the conversions this script produces of casts with __force, __iomem and __user. @@ type T; T *p; @@ - (T *)p + p A function in atl1e_main.c was passed a const pointer when it actually modified elements of the structure. Change the argument to a non-const pointer. A function in stmmac needed a __force to avoid a sparse warning. Added it. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2012-05-17drivers/net: delete all code/drivers depending on CONFIG_MCAPaul Gortmaker7-3491/+1
The support for CONFIG_MCA is being removed, since the 20 year old hardware simply isn't capable of meeting today's software demands on CPU and memory resources. This commit removes any MCA specific net drivers, and removes any MCA specific probe/support code from drivers that were doing a dual ISA/MCA role. Cc: "David S. 2012-01-31drivers/net: Remove unnecessary k.alloc/v.alloc OOM messagesJoe Perches1-2/+0

2012-01-30drivers/net: strip unused module code from sun3_82586.cPaul Gortmaker1-25/+0
This code is clearly unused, since it has a #error right in it. Given the vintage of sun3 hardware, it is probably safe to assume that there is little interest in adding new functionality to the driver now, so just delete the unused block of code. 2011-11-08sweep the floors and convert some .get_drvinfo routines to strlcpyRick Jones1-3/+4

2011-08-27drivers/net/ethernet/*: Enabled vendor Kconfig optionsJeff Kirsher1-0/+1
Based on finds for Stephen Rothwell, where current defconfig's enable a ethernet driver and it is not compiled due to the newly added NET_VENDOR_* component of Kconfig. This patch enables all the "new" Kconfig options so that current defconfig's will continue to compile the expected drivers. In addition, by enabling all the new Kconfig options does not add any un-expected options. CC: Stephen Rothwll <sfc@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Jeff Kirsher <jeffrey.t.kirsher@intel.com>

2011-08-10i825xx: Move the Intel 82586/82593/82596 based driversJeff Kirsher24-0/+20528
Move the drivers that use the i82586/i82593/i82596 chipsets into drivers/net/ethernet/i825xx/ and make the necessary Kconfig and Makefile changes. There were 4 3Com drivers which were initially moved into 3com/, which now reside in i825xx since they all used the i82586 chip.
