Two minor conflicts: 1) net/ipv4/route.c, adding a new local variable while moving another local variable and removing it's initial assignment. 2) drivers/net/dsa/microchip/ksz9477.c, overlapping changes. One pretty prints the port mode differently, whilst another changes the driver to try and obtain the port mode from the port node rather than the switch node. Signed-off-by: David S. We got slightly different patches removing a double word in a comment in net/ipv4/raw.c - picked the version from net. Simple conflict in drivers/net/ethernet/ibm/ibmvnic.c. Use cached values instead of VNIC login response buffer (following what commit 507ebe6444a4 ("ibmvnic: Fix use-after-free of VNIC login response buffer") did). 2020-09-01ibmvnic: Harden device Command Response Queue handshakeThomas Falcon1-1/+18
In some cases, the device or firmware may be busy when the driver attempts to perform the CRQ initialization handshake. If the partner is busy, the hypervisor will return the H_CLOSED return code. The aim of this patch is that, if the device is not ready, to query the device a number of times, with a small wait time in between queries. If all initialization requests fail, the driver will remain in a dormant state, awaiting a signal from the device that it is ready for operation. 2020-08-26ibmvnic: merge ibmvnic_reset_init and ibmvnic_initLijun Pan1-52/+13
These two functions share the majority of the code, hence merge them together. In the meanwhile, add a reset pass-in parameter to differentiate them. Thus, the code is easier to read and to tell the difference between reset_init and regular init. Signed-off-by: Lijun Pan <ljp@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2020-08-26ibmvnic: remove never executed if statementLijun Pan1-12/+0

2020-08-26ibmvnic: improve ibmvnic_init and ibmvnic_reset_initLijun Pan1-4/+13
When H_SEND_CRQ command returns with H_CLOSED, it means the server's CRQ is not ready yet. Instead of resetting immediately, we wait for the server to launch passive init. ibmvnic_init() and ibmvnic_reset_init() should also return the error code from ibmvnic_send_crq_init() call. 2020-08-25ibmvnic fix NULL tx_pools and rx_tools issue at do_resetMingming Cao1-1/+14
At the time of do_rest, ibmvnic tries to re-initalize the tx_pools and rx_pools to avoid re-allocating the long term buffer. However there is a window inside do_reset that the tx_pools and rx_pools were freed before re-initialized making it possible to deference null pointers. This patch fix this issue by always check the tx_pool and rx_pool are not NULL after ibmvnic_login. If so, re-allocating the pools. This will avoid getting into calling reset_tx/rx_pools with NULL adapter tx_pools/rx_pools pointer. Also add null pointer check in reset_tx_pools and reset_rx_pools to safe handle NULL pointer case. 2020-08-19ibmvnic: store RX and TX subCRQ handle array in ibmvnic_adapter structCristobal Forno2-12/+27
Currently the driver reads RX and TX subCRQ handle array directly from a DMA-mapped buffer address when it needs to make a H_SEND_SUBCRQ hcall. This patch stores that information in the ibmvnic_sub_crq_queue structure instead of reading from the buffer received at login. The overall goal of this patch is to parse relevant information from the login response buffer and store it in the driver's private data structures so that we don't need to read directly from the buffer and can then free up that memory. 2020-06-19ibmveth: Fix max MTU limitThomas Falcon1-1/+1
The max MTU limit defined for ibmveth is not accounting for virtual ethernet buffer overhead, which is twenty-two additional bytes set aside for the ethernet header and eight additional bytes of an opaque handle reserved for use by the hypervisor. Update the max MTU to reflect this overhead. 2020-06-15ibmvnic: Harden device login requestsThomas Falcon1-4/+17
The VNIC driver's "login" command sequence is the final step in the driver's initialization process with device firmware, confirming the available device queue resources to be utilized by the driver. Under high system load, firmware may not respond to the request in a timely manner or may abort the request. In such cases, the driver should reattempt the login command sequence. In case of a device error, the number of retries is bounded. Signed-off-by: Thomas Falcon <tlfalcon@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2020-04-30ibmvnic: Skip fatal error reset after passive initJuliet Kim1-1/+2
During MTU change, the following events may happen. Client-driven CRQ initialization fails due to partner’s CRQ closed, causing client to enqueue a reset task for FATAL_ERROR. Then passive (server-driven) CRQ initialization succeeds, causing client to release CRQ and enqueue a reset task for failover. If the passive CRQ initialization occurs before the FATAL reset task is processed, the FATAL error reset task would try to access a CRQ message queue that was freed, causing an oops. The problem may be most likely to occur during DLPAR add vNIC with a non-default MTU, because the DLPAR process will automatically issue a change MTU request. Fix this by not processing fatal error reset if CRQ is passively initialized after client-driven CRQ initialization fails. Fixes: 476d96ca9cc5 ("ibmvnic: Bound waits for device queries") Suggested-by: Juliet Kim <julietk@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Thomas Falcon <tlfalcon@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <jakub.kicinski@netronome.com>
2019-12-12netdev: pass the stuck queue to the timeout handlerMichael S. Tsirkin3-3/+3
This allows incrementing the correct timeout statistic without any mess. Down the road, devices can learn to reset just the specific queue. Reversion of commit 11d49ce9f7946dfed4dcf5dbde865c78058b50ab (“net/ibmvnic: Fix EOI when running in XIVE mode.”) leaves us calling H_EOI even in XIVE mode. 2019-11-04net: of_get_phy_mode: Change API to solve int/unit warningsAndrew Lunn1-2/+3
Before this change of_get_phy_mode() returned an enum, phy_interface_t. On error, -ENODEV etc, is returned. If the result of the function is stored in a variable of type phy_interface_t, and the compiler has decided to represent this as an unsigned int, comparision with -ENODEV etc, is a signed vs unsigned comparision. Fix this problem by changing the API. Make the function return an error, or 0 on success, and pass a pointer, of type phy_interface_t, where the phy mode should be stored. v2: Return with *interface set to PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_NA on error. 2019-10-13net/ibmvnic: Fix EOI when running in XIVE mode.Cédric Le Goater1-5/+3
pSeries machines on POWER9 processors can run with the XICS (legacy) interrupt mode or with the XIVE exploitation interrupt mode. These interrupt contollers have different interfaces for interrupt management : XICS uses hcalls and XIVE loads and stores on a page. H_EOI being a XICS interface the enable_scrq_irq() routine can fail when the machine runs in XIVE mode. Fix that by calling the EOI handler of the interrupt chip. 2019-09-25net/ibmvnic: unlock rtnl_lock in reset so linkwatch_event can runJuliet Kim2-68/+157
Commit a5681e20b541 ("net/ibmnvic: Fix deadlock problem in reset") made the change to hold the RTNL lock during a reset to avoid deadlock but linkwatch_event is fired during the reset and needs the RTNL lock. That keeps linkwatch_event process from proceeding until the reset is complete. The reset process cannot tolerate the linkwatch_event processing after reset completes, so release the RTNL lock during the process to allow a chance for linkwatch_event to run during reset. This does not guarantee that the linkwatch_event will be processed as soon as link state changes, but is an improvement over the current code where linkwatch_event processing is always delayed, which prevents transmissions on the device from being deactivated leading transmit watchdog timer to time-out. Release the RTNL lock before link state change and re-acquire after the link state change to allow linkwatch_event to grab the RTNL lock and run during the reset.
