2014-01-16drivers/net: delete non-required instances of include <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker1-1/+0
None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. This covers everything under drivers/net except for wireless, which has been submitted separately. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-12-09net: pxa168_eth: use phy_init_hw for PHY resetFlorian Fainelli1-19/+1
Instead of open-coding a PHY reset through the MII BMCR register, use phy_init_hw() which does this for us and ensures that PHY device fixups are also applied. We also remove a call to ethernet_phy_reset() which is now unncessary since phy_attach() calls phy_attach_direct() which in turns calls phy_init_hw(). 2013-12-06ethernet: Fix FSF address in file headersJeff Kirsher1-2/+1
Several files refer to an old address for the Free Software Foundation in the file header comment. Resolve by replacing the address with the URL <http://www.gnu.org/licenses/> so that we do not have to keep updating the header comments anytime the address changes. 2013-08-30net: pxa168_eth: use dev_get_platdata()Jingoo Han1-1/+1
Use the wrapper function for retrieving the platform data instead of accessing dev->platform_data directly. This is a cosmetic change to make the code simpler and enhance the readability. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-08-29drivers:net: Convert dma_alloc_coherent(...__GFP_ZERO) to dma_zalloc_coherentJoe Perches1-10/+9
__GFP_ZERO is an uncommon flag and perhaps is better not used. static inline dma_zalloc_coherent exists so convert the uses of dma_alloc_coherent with __GFP_ZERO to the more common kernel style with zalloc. Remove memset from the static inline dma_zalloc_coherent and add just one use of __GFP_ZERO instead. Trivially reduces the size of the existing uses of dma_zalloc_coherent. Realign arguments as appropriate. 2013-07-03Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/netDavid S. Miller1-2/+2
Conflicts: drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/fec_main.c drivers/net/ethernet/renesas/sh_eth.c net/ipv4/gre.c The GRE conflict is between a bug fix (kfree_skb --> kfree_skb_list) and the splitting of the gre.c code into seperate files. The FEC conflict was two sets of changes adding ethtool support code in an "!CONFIG_M5272" CPP protected block. Finally the sh_eth.c conflict was between one commit add bits set in the .eesr_err_check mask whilst another commit removed the .tx_error_check member and assignments. Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-06-19pxa168_eth: Allocate receive queue initialized to zeroLubomir Rintel1-2/+2
Zero pointer in rx_skb or tx_skb is how respective *_deinit() functions find out that a skb slot is unallocated. If *_init() functions unsuccessfully return after the allocation (e.g. when subsequent dma_alloc_coherent() is not successful), this would result in attempt to kfree() invalid pointers. 2013-06-17pxa168_eth: convert skb->end into skb_end_pointer(skb)Isaku Yamahata1-1/+1
The change set of 4305b541, "[SK_BUFF]: Convert skb->end to sk_buff_data_t" converted skb->end from pointer type to sk_buff_data_t. The pointed value should be accessed via skb_end_pointer(). Since arm arch doesn't define NET_SKBUFF_DATA_USES_OFFSET, skb->end is effectively pointer. So it doesn't cause a real problem. But this patch is good for consistency. Found by inspection. Compile tested only. Cc: Simon Horman <horms@verge.net.au> Signed-off-by: Isaku Yamahata <yamahata@valinux.co.jp> Reviewed-by: Simon Horman <horms@verge.net.au> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-05-27net: ethernet: remove unnecessary platform_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han1-1/+0
The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure, since commit 0998d0631001288a5974afc0b2a5f568bcdecb4d (device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound). Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL. 2013-03-17drivers:net: dma_alloc_coherent: use __GFP_ZERO instead of memset(, 0)Joe Perches1-7/+9
Reduce the number of calls required to alloc a zeroed block of memory. Trivially reduces overall object size. Other changes around these removals o Neaten call argument alignment o Remove an unnecessary OOM message after dma_alloc_coherent failure o Remove unnecessary gfp_t stack variable Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-03-15drivers:net: Remove dma_alloc_coherent OOM messagesJoe Perches1-8/+3
I believe these error messages are already logged on allocation failure by warn_alloc_failed and so get a dump_stack on OOM. Remove the unnecessary additional error logging. Around these deletions: o Alignment neatening. o Remove unnecessary casts of dma_alloc_coherent. o Hoist assigns from ifs. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-01-14net: phy: remove flags argument from phy_{attach, connect, connect_direct}Florian Fainelli1-1/+1
The flags argument of the phy_{attach,connect,connect_direct} functions is then used to assign a struct phy_device dev_flags with its value. All callers but the tg3 driver pass the flag 0, which results in the underlying PHY drivers in drivers/net/phy/ not being able to actually use any of the flags they would set in dev_flags. This patch gets rid of the flags argument, and passes phydev->dev_flags to the internal PHY library call phy_attach_direct() such that drivers which actually modify a phy device dev_flags get the value preserved for use by the underlying phy driver. 2012-06-06ethernet: Remove casts to same typeJoe Perches1-2/+2
Adding casts of objects to the same type is unnecessary and confusing for a human reader. For example, this cast: int y; int *p = (int *)&y; I used the coccinelle script below to find and remove these unnecessary casts. I manually removed the conversions this script produces of casts with __force, __iomem and __user. @@ type T; T *p; @@ - (T *)p + p A function in atl1e_main.c was passed a const pointer when it actually modified elements of the structure. Change the argument to a non-const pointer. A function in stmmac needed a __force to avoid a sparse warning. Added it. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S.
