2012-01-31drivers/net: Remove alloc_etherdev error messagesJoe Perches1-2/+0
alloc_etherdev has a generic OOM/unable to alloc message. Remove the duplicative messages after alloc_etherdev calls. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-01-31drivers/net: Remove unnecessary k.alloc/v.alloc OOM messagesJoe Perches1-6/+3
alloc failures use dump_stack so emitting an additional out-of-memory message is an unnecessary duplication. Remove the allocation failure messages. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-01-18pch_gbe: Do not abort probe on bad MACDarren Hart1-3/+14
If the MAC is invalid or not implemented, do not abort the probe. Issue a warning and prevent bringing the interface up until a MAC is set manually (via ifconfig $IFACE hw ether $MAC). Tested on two platforms, one with a valid MAC, the other without a MAC. The real MAC is used if present, the interface fails to come up until the MAC is set on the other. They successfully get an IP over DHCP and pass a simple ping and login over ssh test. This is meant to allow the Inforce SYS940X development board: http://www.inforcecomputing.com/SYS940X_ECX.html (and others suffering from a missing MAC) to work with the mainline kernel. Without this patch, the probe will fail and the interface will not be created, preventing the user from configuring the MAC manually. This does not make any attempt to address a missing or invalid MAC for the pch_phub driver. 2011-11-22Sweep away N/A fw_version dustbunnies from the .get_drvinfo routine of a number of driversRick Jones1-1/+0
Per discussion with Ben Hutchings and David Miller, go through and remove assignments of "N/A" to fw_version in various drivers' .get_drvinfo routines. While there clean-up some use of bare constants and such. Signed-off-by: Rick Jones <rick.jones2@hp.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-11-21Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/netDavid S. Miller1-1/+1
The forcedeth changes had a conflict with the conversion over to atomic u64 statistics in net-next. The libertas cfg.c code had a conflict with the bss reference counting fix by John Linville in net-next. Conflicts: drivers/net/ethernet/nvidia/forcedeth.c drivers/net/wireless/libertas/cfg.c
2011-11-16net: introduce and use netdev_features_t for device features setsMichał Mirosław1-2/+3

2011-11-16pch_gbe: Move #include of module.hJoe Perches1-1/+1
The first #include must be pch_gbe.h as it does a #define of pr_fmt. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-11-14Sweep additional floors of strcpy in .get_drvinfo routinesRick Jones1-4/+5
Perform another round of floor sweeping, converting the .get_drvinfo routines of additional drivers from strcpy to strlcpy along with some conversion of sprintf to snprintf. Signed-off-by: Rick Jones <rick.jones2@hp.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-10-31drivers/net: Add module.h to drivers who were implicitly using itPaul Gortmaker2-0/+2
The device.h header was including module.h, making it present for most of these drivers. But we want to clean that up. Call out the include of module.h in the modular network drivers. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com>
2011-10-07net: Remove unnecessary driver assignments of ethtool_ringparam fields to zeroRick Jones1-4/+0
Per comments from Ben Hutchings on a previous patch, sweep the floors a little removing unnecessary assignments of zero to fields of struct ethtool_ringparam in driver code supporting ethtool -g. Signed-off-by: Rick Jones <rick.jones2@hp.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2011-09-15MII: fix Kconfig dependencies for MIIJeff Kirsher1-0/+1
MII Kconfig option is apart of the core networking drivers and by default NET_CORE is enabled so drivers selecting MII will have MII enabled as well. It was found using the randconfig option during testing, MII would be selected but NET_CORE could be disabled. This caused a dependency error. Resolved the dependency by selecting NET_CORE when MII is selected. 2011-08-27drivers/net/ethernet/*: Enabled vendor Kconfig optionsJeff Kirsher1-0/+1
Based on finds for Stephen Rothwell, where current defconfig's enable a ethernet driver and it is not compiled due to the newly added NET_VENDOR_* component of Kconfig. This patch enables all the "new" Kconfig options so that current defconfig's will continue to compile the expected drivers. In addition, by enabling all the new Kconfig options does not add any un-expected options. CC: Stephen Rothwll <sfc@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Jeff Kirsher <jeffrey.t.kirsher@intel.com>
