2015-10-16drivers/net: get rid of unnecessary initializations in .get_drvinfo()Ivan Vecera1-2/+0
Many drivers initialize uselessly n_priv_flags, n_stats, testinfo_len, eedump_len & regdump_len fields in their .get_drvinfo() ethtool op. It's not necessary as these fields is filled in ethtool_get_drvinfo(). v2: removed unused variable v3: removed another unused variable Signed-off-by: Ivan Vecera <ivecera@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2014-08-12PCI: Remove DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE macro useBenoit Taine1-1/+1
We should prefer `struct pci_device_id` over `DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE` to meet kernel coding style guidelines. This issue was reported by checkpatch. A simplified version of the semantic patch that makes this change is as follows (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/): // <smpl> @@ identifier i; declarer name DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE; initializer z; @@ - DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE(i) + const struct pci_device_id i[] = z; // </smpl> [bhelgaas: add semantic patch] Signed-off-by: Benoit Taine <benoit.taine@lip6.fr> Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>
2014-05-13net: get rid of SET_ETHTOOL_OPSWilfried Klaebe1-1/+1
net: get rid of SET_ETHTOOL_OPS Dave Miller mentioned he'd like to see SET_ETHTOOL_OPS gone. This does that. Mostly done via coccinelle script: @@ struct ethtool_ops *ops; struct net_device *dev; @@ - SET_ETHTOOL_OPS(dev, ops); + dev->ethtool_ops = ops; Compile tested only, but I'd seriously wonder if this broke anything. 2014-01-16drivers/net: delete non-required instances of include <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker1-1/+0
None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. This covers everything under drivers/net except for wireless, which has been submitted separately. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-10-22net: qla3xxx: remove unnecessary pci_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han1-2/+0
The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure. Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-03-09drivers:net: Remove unnecessary OOM messages after netdev_alloc_skbJoe Perches1-1/+0
Emitting netdev_alloc_skb and netdev_alloc_skb_ip_align OOM messages is unnecessary as there is already a dump_stack after allocation failures. Other trivial changes around these removals: Convert a few comparisons of pointer to 0 to !pointer. Change flow to remove unnecessary label. Remove now unused variable. Hoist assignment from if. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-02-04ethernet: Remove unnecessary alloc/OOM messages, alloc cleanupsJoe Perches1-6/+4
alloc failures already get standardized OOM messages and a dump_stack. Convert kzalloc's with multiplies to kcalloc. Convert kmalloc's with multiplies to kmalloc_array. Fix a few whitespace defects. Convert a constant 6 to ETH_ALEN. Use parentheses around sizeof. Convert vmalloc/memset to vzalloc. Remove now unused size variables. 2013-01-08remove init of dev->perm_addr in driversJiri Pirko1-1/+0
perm_addr is initialized correctly in register_netdevice() so to init it in drivers is no longer needed. Signed-off-by: Jiri Pirko <jiri@resnulli.us> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-12-07drivers/net: fix up function prototypes after __dev* removalsGreg Kroah-Hartman1-1/+1
The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of them back up to be properly aligned. Bonus is that this almost removes 100 lines of code, always a nice surprise. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-12-03qla3xxx: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton1-3/+3
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. 2012-03-05qla3xxx: ethernet: Fix bogus interrupt state flag.Santosh Nayak1-3/+2
In 'ql_adapter_initialize' the first call for 'spin_unlock_irqrestore()' is with hw_flags = 0, which is as good as 'spin_unlock_irq()' (unconditional interrupt enabling). If this is intended, then for better performance 'spin_unlock_irqrestore()' can be replaced with 'spin_unlock_irq()' and 'spin_lock_irqsave()' can be replaced by 'spin_lock_irq() Signed-off-by: Santosh Nayak <santoshprasadnayak@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2011-11-22Sweep away N/A fw_version dustbunnies from the .get_drvinfo routine of a number of driversRick Jones1-1/+0
Per discussion with Ben Hutchings and David Miller, go through and remove assignments of "N/A" to fw_version in various drivers' .get_drvinfo routines. 2011-10-19net: add skb frag size accessorsEric Dumazet1-3/+3
To ease skb->truesize sanitization, its better to be able to localize all references to skb frags size.
