2012-04-04stmmac: re-add IFF_UNICAST_FLT for dwmac1000Marc Kleine-Budde1-2/+4
In commit (bfab27a stmmac: add the experimental PCI support) the IFF_UNICAST_FLT flag has been removed from the stmmac_mac_device_setup() function. This patch re-adds the flag. 2012-03-16stmmac: Add device-tree supportStefan Roese1-2/+72
This patch adds support to configure the STMMAC ethernet driver via device-tree instead of platform_data. Currently, only the properties needed on SPEAr600 are provided. 2012-02-15stmmac: move hw init in the probe (v2)Giuseppe CAVALLARO4-116/+105
This patch moves the MAC HW initialization and the HW feature verification from the open to the probe function as D. Miller suggested. So the patch actually reorganizes and tidies-up some parts of the driver and indeed fixes some problem when tune its HW features. These can be overwritten by looking at the HW cap register at run-time and that generated problems. 2011-11-17stmmac: parameters auto-tuning through HW cap regGiuseppe CAVALLARO3-29/+72
New GMAC devices (newer than the databook 3.50a) have the HW capability register that provides which features are actually supported by the hardware. On old devices many information have to be passed through the platform, for example: enhanced descriptor structure, TX COE etc. These are mandatory to properly configure the driver. This remains still valid because the driver has to support old Synopsys devices but now it's also able to override them using the values from the HW capability register if supported. 2011-10-27stmmac: update normal descriptor structure (v2)Giuseppe CAVALLARO5-40/+51
This patch updates the normal descriptor structure to work fine on new GMAC Synopsys chips. Normal descriptors were designed on the old MAC10/100 databook 1.91 where some bits were reserved: for example the tx checksum insertion and rx checksum offload. The patch maintains the back-compatibility with old MAC devices (tested on STx7109 MAC10/100) and adds new fields that actually new GMAC devices can use. For example, STx7109 (MAC10/100) will pass from the platform tx_coe = 0, enh_desc = 0, has_gmac = 0. A platform like Loongson1B (GMAC) will pass: tx_coe = 1, enh_desc = 0, has_gmac = 1. 2011-10-19stmmac: limit max_mtu in case of 4KiB and use __netdev_alloc_skb (V2)Giuseppe CAVALLARO1-2/+4
Problem using big mtu around 4096 bytes is you end allocating (4096 +NET_SKB_PAD + NET_IP_ALIGN + sizeof(struct skb_shared_info) bytes -> 8192 bytes : order-1 pages It's better to limit the mtu to SKB_MAX_HEAD(NET_SKB_PAD), to have no more than one page per skb. Also the patch changes the netdev_alloc_skb_ip_align() done in init_dma_desc_rings() and uses a variant allowing GFP_KERNEL allocations allowing the driver to load even in case of memory pressure. 2011-10-19stmmac: add CHAINED descriptor mode support (V4)Giuseppe CAVALLARO10-105/+491
This patch enhances the STMMAC driver to support CHAINED mode of descriptor. STMMAC supports DMA descriptor to operate both in dual buffer(RING) and linked-list(CHAINED) mode. In RING mode (default) each descriptor points to two data buffer pointers whereas in CHAINED mode they point to only one data buffer pointer. In CHAINED mode each descriptor will have pointer to next descriptor in the list, hence creating the explicit chaining in the descriptor itself, whereas such explicit chaining is not possible in RING mode. First version of this work has been done by Rayagond. Then the patch has been reworked avoiding ifdef inside the C code. A new header file has been added to define all the functions needed for managing enhanced and normal descriptors. In fact, these have to be specialized according to the ring/chain usage. Two new C files have been also added to implement the helper routines needed to manage: jumbo frames, chain and ring setup (i.e. desc3).
