2011-12-19module_param: make bool parameters really bool (net & drivers/net)Rusty Russell2-2/+2
module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy trick. It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option. For this version it'll simply give a warning, but it'll break next kernel version. (Thanks to Joe Perches for suggesting coccinelle for 0/1 -> true/false). Cc: "David S. Miller" <davem@davemloft.net> Cc: netdev@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-12-08net/irda: convert au1k_ir to platform driver.Manuel Lauss3-671/+686
Moderate driver cleanup: convert to platform driver, get rid of board-specific code. Driver loads and runs on a DB1100 board. But since I have no other IrDA hardware to exchange data with I can't say whether it really sends and receives. 2011-12-07MIPS: Alchemy: one kernel for DB1000/DB1500/DB1100Manuel Lauss1-5/+5
These 3 boards are very similar; with this patch a single kernel image which runs on all three can be built. Tested on DB1500 and DB1100. 2011-12-07MIPS: Alchemy: remove PB1000 supportManuel Lauss1-4/+1

2011-11-27net/irda: convert drivers/net/irda/* to use module_platform_driver()Axel Lin4-48/+4

2011-11-21freezer: unexport refrigerator() and update try_to_freeze() slightlyTejun Heo1-1/+1
There is no reason to export two functions for entering the refrigerator. Calling refrigerator() instead of try_to_freeze() doesn't save anything noticeable or removes any race condition. * Rename refrigerator() to __refrigerator() and make it return bool indicating whether it scheduled out for freezing. * Update try_to_freeze() to return bool and relay the return value of __refrigerator() if freezing(). * Convert all refrigerator() users to try_to_freeze(). * Update documentation accordingly. * While at it, add might_sleep() to try_to_freeze(). 2011-11-18USB: convert drivers/net/* to use module_usb_driver()Greg Kroah-Hartman6-132/+6
This converts the drivers in drivers/net/* to use the module_usb_driver() macro which makes the code smaller and a bit simpler. 2011-06-21net: remove mm.h inclusion from netdevice.hAlexey Dobriyan1-0/+1
Remove linux/mm.h inclusion from netdevice.h -- it's unused (I've checked manually). To prevent mm.h inclusion via other channels also extract "enum dma_data_direction" definition into separate header. This tiny piece is what gluing netdevice.h with mm.h via "netdevice.h => dmaengine.h => dma-mapping.h => scatterlist.h => mm.h". Removal of mm.h from scatterlist.h was tried and was found not feasible on most archs, so the link was cutoff earlier. Hope people are OK with tiny include file. Note, that mm_types.h is still dragged in, but it is a separate story. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2011-03-30via-ircc: Pass PCI device pointer to dma_{alloc, free}_coherent()Ben Hutchings1-6/+6
via-ircc has been passing a NULL pointer to DMA allocation functions, which is completely invalid and results in a BUG on PowerPC. Now that we always have the device pointer available, pass it in. Reference: http://bugs.debian.org/619450 Reported-by: Andrew Buckeridge <andrewb@bgc.com.au> Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk> Tested-by: Andrew Buckeridge <andrewb@bgc.com.au> [against 2.6.32] Signed-off-by: David S. 2011-03-30via-ircc: Use pci_{get, set}_drvdata() instead of static pointer variableBen Hutchings1-67/+15
via-ircc still maintains its own array of device pointers in Linux 2.4 style. Worse, it always uses index 0, so it will crash if there are multiple suitable devices in the system. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2011-01-10net/irda: bfin_sir: back out transitional definesMike Frysinger1-3/+0

2011-01-10net/irda: bfin_sir: pull in serial headers for definesMike Frysinger1-0/+5
We're in the process of cleaning up the global Blackfin namespace, so the bfin_sir driver needs to pull in the serial header explicitly now. This does add a little transitional cruft to keep things compiling, but a follow up patch in this series will cull that. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>

2010-12-12drivers/net: don't use flush_scheduled_work()Tejun Heo1-1/+1
flush_scheduled_work() is on its way out. This patch contains simple conversions to replace flush_scheduled_work() usage with direct cancels and flushes. Directly cancel the used works on driver detach and flush them in other cases. The conversions are mostly straight forward and the only dangers are, * Forgetting to cancel/flush one or more used works. * Cancelling when a work should be flushed (ie. the work must be executed once scheduled whether the driver is detaching or not). I've gone over the changes multiple times but it would be much appreciated if you can review with the above points in mind. Signed-off-by: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org> Cc: "David S.
