2019-10-23net: phy: broadcom: add 1000Base-X support for BCM54616STao Ren1-4/+53
The BCM54616S PHY cannot work properly in RGMII->1000Base-X mode, mainly because genphy functions are designed for copper links, and 1000Base-X (clause 37) auto negotiation needs to be handled differently. This patch enables 1000Base-X support for BCM54616S by customizing 3 driver callbacks, and it's verified to be working on Facebook CMM BMC platform (RGMII->1000Base-KX): - probe: probe callback detects PHY's operation mode based on INTERF_SEL[1:0] pins and 1000X/100FX selection bit in SerDES 100-FX Control register. - config_aneg: calls genphy_c37_config_aneg when the PHY is running in 1000Base-X mode; otherwise, genphy_config_aneg will be called. - read_status: calls genphy_c37_read_status when the PHY is running in 1000Base-X mode; otherwise, genphy_read_status will be called. Note: BCM54616S PHY can also be configured in RGMII->100Base-FX mode, and 100Base-FX support is not available as of now. 2019-10-04net: phy: broadcom: Fix RGMII delays configuration for BCM54210EFlorian Fainelli1-8/+3
Commit 0fc9ae107669 ("net: phy: broadcom: add support for BCM54210E") added support for BCM54210E but also unconditionally cleared the RXC to RXD skew and the TXD to TXC skew, thus only making PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_RGMII a possible configuration. Use bcm54xx_config_clock_delay() which correctly sets the registers depending on the 4 possible PHY interface values that exist for RGMII. 2019-04-15net: phy: switch drivers to use dynamic feature detectionHeiner Kallweit1-17/+17
Recently genphy_read_abilities() has been added that dynamically detects clause 22 PHY abilities. I *think* this detection should work with all supported PHY's, at least for the ones with basic features sets, i.e. PHY_BASIC_FEATURES and PHY_GBIT_FEATURES. So let's remove setting these features explicitly and rely on phylib feature detection. I don't have access to most of these PHY's, therefore I'd appreciate regression testing. v2: - make the feature constant a comment so that readers know which features are supported by the respective PHY Signed-off-by: Heiner Kallweit <hkallweit1@gmail.com> Tested-by: Andrew Lunn <andrew@lunn.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. 2018-11-06net: phy: Allow BCM54616S PHY to setup internal TX/RX clock delayTao Ren1-2/+16
This patch allows users to enable/disable internal TX and/or RX clock delay for BCM54616S PHYs so as to satisfy RGMII timing specifications. On a particular platform, whether TX and/or RX clock delay is required depends on how PHY connected to the MAC IP. BCM54612E have 4 multi-functional LED pins that can be configured through register setting; the LED4 pin can be configured to a 125MHz reference clock output by setting the spare register. 2017-02-01net: phy: broadcom: rehook BCM54612E specific initRafał Miłecki1-34/+33
This extra BCM54612E code in PHY driver isn't really aneg specific. Even without it aneg works OK but the problem is no packets pass through PHY. Moreover putting this code inside config_aneg callback didn't allow resuming PHY correctly. When driver called phy_stop and phy_start it was putting PHY machine into RESUMING state. After that machine was switching into AN and NOLINK without ever calling phy_start_aneg. This prevented this extra setup from being called and PHY didn't work. 2016-12-10net: phy: phy drivers should not set SUPPORTED_[Asym_]PauseTimur Tabi1-28/+14
Instead of having individual PHY drivers set the SUPPORTED_Pause and SUPPORTED_Asym_Pause flags, phylib itself should set those flags, unless there is a hardware erratum or other special case. During autonegotiation, the PHYs will determine whether to enable pause frame support. Pause frames are a feature that is supported by the MAC. It is the MAC that generates the frames and that processes them. The PHY can only be configured to allow them to pass through. This commit also effectively reverts the recently applied c7a61319 ("net: phy: dp83848: Support ethernet pause frames"). So the new process is: 1) Unless the PHY driver overrides it, phylib sets the SUPPORTED_Pause and SUPPORTED_AsymPause bits in phydev->supported. This indicates that the PHY supports pause frames. 2) The MAC driver checks phydev->supported before it calls phy_start(). If (SUPPORTED_Pause | SUPPORTED_AsymPause) is set, then the MAC driver sets those bits in phydev->advertising, if it wants to enable pause frame support. 3) When the link state changes, the MAC driver checks phydev->pause and phydev->asym_pause, If the bits are set, then it enables the corresponding features in the MAC. The algorithm is: if (phydev->pause) The MAC should be programmed to receive and honor pause frames it receives, i.e. enable receive flow control. if (phydev->pause != phydev->asym_pause) The MAC should be programmed to transmit pause frames when needed, i.e. enable transmit flow control. 2009-11-02tg3 / broadcom: Add code to disable rxc refclkMatt Carlson1-0/+43
The 5785 does not use the RXC reference clock. Turning it off is desirable as it saves power. By default, the 50610 enables the RXC reference clock and the 50610M disables it. Presumably this is one of the reasons why the hardware architect chose one over the other. Adding a "rx reference clock disable" flag is not the ideal way to describe the option, as it would force the MAC using a 50610M to set the flag. Ideally we want the flags to represent opt-in behavior that deviates from hardware defaults. Furthermore, the lack of a "disable" flag implies that the requester wants the rx reference clock enabled, which doesn't necessarily follow. By presenting the option as a passive statement (rx reference clock unused) rather than a command, I hope to convey an opt-in option to disable the rx reference clock that falls back to hardware defaults if not set. A secondary benefit of this is that it keeps the intelligence about phy defaults in the broadcom module where it belongs and allows the broadcom module more latitude should a bug arise. 2009-11-02tg3 / broadcom: Refine AC131 APD supportMatt Carlson1-3/+5
Auto power-down (APD) support is a power-saving feature. It should be selectively enabled since it might expose MAC bugs. This patch changes the code to enable APD only if the PHY_BRCM_AUTO_PWRDWN_ENABLE flag is set. The tg3 driver was changed to set this bit. 2009-11-02tg3 / broadcom: Add PHY_BRCM_CLEAR_RGMII_MODE flagMatt Carlson1-0/+6
Broadcom 50610M parts changed the default definitions of the RGMII mode shadow register. The 5785 needs the RGMII mode selection bits [4:3] cleared. The default value of the remaining bits in this register are zero. Rather than unnecessarily burn an extra bit in the dev_flags member in an attempt to enumerate all possible combinations, this patch take a more course grained approach and labels the option as "clear all bits".
