2021-12-17ice: xsk: allow empty Rx descriptors on XSK ZC data pathMaciej Fijalkowski1-4/+10
Commit ac6f733a7bd5 ("ice: allow empty Rx descriptors") stated that ice HW can produce empty descriptors that are valid and they should be processed. Add this support to xsk ZC path to avoid potential processing problems. 2021-12-17ice: xsk: do not clear status_error0 for ntu + nb_buffs descriptorMaciej Fijalkowski1-5/+1
The descriptor that ntu is pointing at when we exit ice_alloc_rx_bufs_zc() should not have its corresponding DD bit cleared as descriptor is not allocated in there and it is not valid for HW usage. The allocation routine at the entry will fill the descriptor that ntu points to after it was set to ntu + nb_buffs on previous call. Even the spec says: "The tail pointer should be set to one descriptor beyond the last empty descriptor in host descriptor ring." Therefore, step away from clearing the status_error0 on ntu + nb_buffs descriptor. 2021-12-17ice: remove dead store on XSK hotpathAlexander Lobakin1-1/+0
The 'if (ntu == rx_ring->count)' block in ice_alloc_rx_buffers_zc() was previously residing in the loop, but after introducing the batched interface it is used only to wrap-around the NTU descriptor, thus no more need to assign 'xdp'. 2021-12-17ice: xsk: allocate separate memory for XDP SW ringMaciej Fijalkowski3-22/+47
Currently, the zero-copy data path is reusing the memory region that was initially allocated for an array of struct ice_rx_buf for its own purposes. This is error prone as it is based on the ice_rx_buf struct always being the same size or bigger than what the zero-copy path needs. There can also be old values present in that array giving rise to errors when the zero-copy path uses it. Fix this by freeing the ice_rx_buf region and allocating a new array for the zero-copy path that has the right length and is initialized to zero. Fixes: 57f7f8b6bc0b ("ice: Use xdp_buf instead of rx_buf for xsk zero-copy") Signed-off-by: Maciej Fijalkowski <maciej.fijalkowski@intel.com> Tested-by: Kiran Bhandare <kiranx.bhandare@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tony Nguyen <anthony.l.nguyen@intel.com>
2021-12-17ice: xsk: return xsk buffers back to pool when cleaning the ringMaciej Fijalkowski1-6/+6
Currently we only NULL the xdp_buff pointer in the internal SW ring but we never give it back to the xsk buffer pool. This means that buffers can be leaked out of the buff pool and never be used again. Add missing xsk_buff_free() call to the routine that is supposed to clean the entries that are left in the ring so that these buffers in the umem can be used by other sockets. Also, only go through the space that is actually left to be cleaned instead of a whole ring. 2021-12-16net: systemport: Add global locking for descriptor lifecycleFlorian Fainelli2-1/+5
The descriptor list is a shared resource across all of the transmit queues, and the locking mechanism used today only protects concurrency across a given transmit queue between the transmit and reclaiming. This creates an opportunity for the SYSTEMPORT hardware to work on corrupted descriptors if we have multiple producers at once which is the case when using multiple transmit queues. This was particularly noticeable when using multiple flows/transmit queues and it showed up in interesting ways in that UDP packets would get a correct UDP header checksum being calculated over an incorrect packet length. Similarly TCP packets would get an equally correct checksum computed by the hardware over an incorrect packet length. The SYSTEMPORT hardware maintains an internal descriptor list that it re-arranges when the driver produces a new descriptor anytime it writes to the WRITE_PORT_{HI,LO} registers, there is however some delay in the hardware to re-organize its descriptors and it is possible that concurrent TX queues eventually break this internal allocation scheme to the point where the length/status part of the descriptor gets used for an incorrect data buffer. The fix is to impose a global serialization for all TX queues in the short section where we are writing to the WRITE_PORT_{HI,LO} registers which solves the corruption even with multiple concurrent TX queues being used. 2021-12-16wcn36xx: Implement beacon filteringBryan O'Donoghue4-0/+107
The prima driver facilitates the direct programming of beacon filter tables via SMD commands. The purpose of beacon filters is quote: /* When beacon filtering is enabled, firmware will * analyze the selected beacons received during BMPS, * and monitor any changes in the IEs as listed below. * The format of the table is: * - EID * - Check for IE presence * - Byte offset * - Byte value * - Bit Mask * - Byte reference */ The default filter table looks something like this: tBeaconFilterIe gaBcnFilterTable[12] = { { WLAN_EID_DS_PARAMS, 0u, { 0u, 0u, 0u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_ERP_INFO, 0u, { 0u, 0u, 248u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_EDCA_PARAM_SET, 0u, { 0u, 0u, 240u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_QOS_CAPA, 0u, { 0u, 0u, 240u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_CHANNEL_SWITCH, 1u, { 0u, 0u, 0u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_QUIET, 1u, { 0u, 0u, 0u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_HT_OPERATION, 0u, { 0u, 0u, 0u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_HT_OPERATION, 0u, { 1u, 0u, 248u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_HT_OPERATION, 0u, { 2u, 0u, 235u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_HT_OPERATION, 0u, { 5u, 0u, 253u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_PWR_CONSTRAINT, 0u, { 0u, 0u, 0u, 0u } }, { WLAN_EID_OPMODE_NOTIF, 0u, { 0u, 0u, 0u, 0u } } }; Add in an equivalent filter set as present in the prima Linux driver. For now omit the beacon filter "rem" command as the driver does not have an explicit call to that SMD command. The filter mask should only count when we are inside BMPS anyway. Replicating the ability to program the filter table gives us scope to add and remove elements in future. For now though this patch makes the rote-copy of the downstream Linux beacon filter table, which we can tweak as desired from now on. Add user template explicit support. At this moment, max TCAM rule size is utilized for all rules, doesn't matter which and how much flower matches are provided by user. Introducing the template, allows to have more HW offloaded filters by specifying the template explicitly. 2021-12-16gve: Add optional metadata descriptor type GVE_TXD_MTDWillem de Bruijn3-20/+74
Allow drivers to pass metadata along with packet data to the device. Introduce a new metadata descriptor type * GVE_TXD_MTD This descriptor is optional. If present it immediate follows the packet descriptor and precedes the segment descriptor. This descriptor may be repeated. Multiple metadata descriptors may follow. There are no immediate uses for this, this is for future proofing. At present devices allow only 1 MTD descriptor. The lower four bits of the type_flags field encode GVE_TXD_MTD. The upper four bits of the type_flags field encodes a *sub*type. Introduce one such metadata descriptor subtype * GVE_MTD_SUBTYPE_PATH This shares path information with the device for network failure discovery and robust response: Linux derives ipv6 flowlabel and ECMP multipath from sk->sk_txhash, and updates this field on error with sk_rethink_txhash. Allow the host stack to do the same. Pass the tx_hash value if set. Also communicate whether the path hash is set, or more exactly, what its type is. Define two common types GVE_MTD_PATH_HASH_NONE GVE_MTD_PATH_HASH_L4 Concrete examples of error conditions that are resolved are mentioned in the commits that add sk_rethink_txhash calls. Such as commit 7788174e8726 ("tcp: change IPv6 flow-label upon receiving spurious retransmission"). Experimental results mirror what the theory suggests: where IPv6 FlowLabel is included in path selection (e.g., LAG/ECMP), flowlabel rotation on TCP timeout avoids the vast majority of TCP disconnects that would otherwise have occurred during link failures in long-haul backbones, when an alternative path is available. Rotation can be applied to various bad connection signals, such as timeouts and spurious retransmissions. In aggregate, such flow level signals can help locate network issues. 2021-12-16net: phylink: add mac_select_pcs() method to phylink_mac_opsRussell King (Oracle)1-9/+59
mac_select_pcs() allows us to have an explicit point to query which PCS the MAC wishes to use for a particular PHY interface mode, thereby allowing us to add support to validate the link settings with the PCS. Phylink will also use this to select the PCS to be used during a major configuration event without the MAC driver needing to call phylink_set_pcs(). Note that if mac_select_pcs() is present, the supported_interfaces bitmap must be filled in; this avoids mac_select_pcs() being called with PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_NA when we want to get support for all interface types. Phylink will return an error in phylink_create() unless this condition is satisfied. Signed-off-by: Russell King (Oracle) <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: David S. 2021-12-16xen/netback: don't queue unlimited number of packagesJuergen Gross1-7/+11
In case a guest isn't consuming incoming network traffic as fast as it is coming in, xen-netback is buffering network packages in unlimited numbers today. This can result in host OOM situations. Commit f48da8b14d04ca8 ("xen-netback: fix unlimited guest Rx internal queue and carrier flapping") meant to introduce a mechanism to limit the amount of buffered data by stopping the Tx queue when reaching the data limit, but this doesn't work for cases like UDP. When hitting the limit don't queue further SKBs, but drop them instead. In order to be able to tell Rx packages have been dropped increment the rx_dropped statistics counter in this case. It should be noted that the old solution to continue queueing SKBs had the additional problem of an overflow of the 32-bit rx_queue_len value would result in intermittent Tx queue enabling. 2021-12-16xen/netback: fix rx queue stall detectionJuergen Gross2-24/+42
Commit 1d5d48523900a4b ("xen-netback: require fewer guest Rx slots when not using GSO") introduced a security problem in netback, as an interface would only be regarded to be stalled if no slot is available in the rx queue ring page. In case the SKB at the head of the queued requests will need more than one rx slot and only one slot is free the stall detection logic will never trigger, as the test for that is only looking for at least one slot to be free. Fix that by testing for the needed number of slots instead of only one slot being available. In order to not have to take the rx queue lock that often, store the number of needed slots in the queue data. As all SKB dequeue operations happen in the rx queue kernel thread this is safe, as long as the number of needed slots is accessed via READ/WRITE_ONCE() only and updates are always done with the rx queue lock held. Add a small helper for obtaining the number of free slots. This is part of XSA-392 Fixes: 1d5d48523900a4b ("xen-netback: require fewer guest Rx slots when not using GSO") Signed-off-by: Juergen Gross <jgross@suse.com> Reviewed-by: Jan Beulich <jbeulich@suse.com>

The Xen netfront driver is still vulnerable for an attack via excessive number of events sent by the backend. Fix that by using lateeoi event channels.
