The NETIUCV device driver allows to connect a Linux guest on z/VM to another z/VM guest based on the z/VM communication facility IUCV. Multiple output paths to different guests are possible, as well as multiple input paths from different guests. With this feature, you can configure multiple point-to-point NETIUCV interfaces between your Linux on System z instance and another z/VM guest. This error was reported by cppcheck: drivers/s390/net/netiucv.c:568: error: Using sizeof for array given as function argument returns the size of pointer. sizeof(ipuser) did not result in 16 (as many programmers would have expected) but sizeof(u8 *), so it is 4 or 8, too small here. This patch updates misc percpu related symbols such that percpu symbols are unique and don't clash with local symbols. This serves two purposes of decreasing the possibility of global percpu symbol collision and allowing dropping per_cpu__ prefix from percpu symbols. * drivers/crypto/padlock-aes.c: s/last_cword/paes_last_cword/ * drivers/lguest/x86/core.c: s/last_cpu/lg_last_cpu/ * drivers/s390/net/netiucv.c: rename the variable used in a macro to avoid clashing with percpu symbol * arch/mn10300/kernel/kprobes.c: replace current_ prefix with cur_ for static variables. Please note that percpu symbol current_kprobe can't be changed as it's used by generic code. Partly based on Rusty Russell's "alloc_percpu: rename percpu vars which cause name clashes" patch. Patch establishes a dummy netiucv device to make sure iucv is notified about suspend/resume even if netiucv is the only loaded iucv-exploting module without any real net_device defined. The PM freeze callback closes all open netiucv connections. Thus the corresponding iucv path is removed. The PM thaw/restore callback re-opens previously closed netiucv connections. 2009-06-15s390: remove driver_data direct access of struct deviceGreg Kroah-Hartman1-23/+24
In the near future, the driver core is going to not allow direct access to the driver_data pointer in struct device. Instead, the functions dev_get_drvdata() and dev_set_drvdata() should be used. These functions have been around since the beginning, so are backwards compatible with all older kernel versions. Recently, Wang Chen submitted a patch (d30f53aeb31d453a5230f526bea592af07944564) to move a call to netif_rx(skb) after a subsequent reference to skb, because netif_rx may call kfree_skb on its argument. netif_rx_ni calls netif_rx, so the same problem occurs in the files below. I have left the updating of dev->last_rx after the calls to netif_rx_ni because it seems time dependent, but moved the other field updates before. This was found using the following semantic match. 2007-07-25Cleanup non-arch xtime uses, use get_seconds() or current_kernel_time().john stultz1-2/+2
This avoids use of the kernel-internal "xtime" variable directly outside of the actual time-related functions. Instead, use the helper functions that we already have available to us. This doesn't actually change any behaviour, but this will allow us to fix the fact that "xtime" isn't updated very often with CONFIG_NO_HZ (because much of the realtime information is maintained as separate offsets to 'xtime'), which has caused interfaces that use xtime directly to get a time that is out of sync with the real-time clock by up to a third of a second or so. So that it is also an offset from skb->head, reduces its size from 8 to 4 bytes on 64bit architectures, allowing us to combine the 4 bytes hole left by the layer headers conversion, reducing struct sk_buff size to 256 bytes, i.e. 4 64byte cachelines, and since the sk_buff slab cache is SLAB_HWCACHE_ALIGN... :-) Many calculations that previously required that skb->{transport,network, mac}_header be first converted to a pointer now can be done directly, being meaningful as offsets or pointers. 2007-02-14[PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau1-1/+0
After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files).
