This looks like a rather old bug, but I have never seen this in randconfig testing until today. 2017-01-19staging: comedi: ni_pcimio: Support more PXI cardsIan Abbott1-3/+5
Add support for NI PXI-6220, PXI-6221, PXI-6229, PXI-6250, PXI-6254, PXI-6259, PXIe-6259, PXI-6280, PXI-6284, and PXI-6289 boards, treating them the same as the correspondingly numbered PCI and PCIe boards (apart from having different Comedi board name strings). The same has previously been done for other PXI boards supported by the driver. The PCI device IDs for the newly supported boards come from the "nixswv.inf" file in National Instrument's Windows drivers. Also, sort `ni_pcimio_pci_table[]` by PCI device ID. 2015-12-18staging: comedi: adv_pci_dio: separate out PCI-1760 supportH Hartley Sweeten1-2/+10
The PCI-1760 is board unique. It uses an outgoing/incoming mailbox programming sequence to access the hardware. The other boards supported by this driver use simple register mapping. Including support for the PCI-1760 in this driver just makes it harder to understand. Separate out the PCI-1760 support into a new driver, adv_pci1760. Clean up the new driver. The original code had a bunch of CamelCase and other checkpatch.pl issues. The code used to access the outgoing/incoming mailboxes was also a bit awkward with the passing of the arrays for the outgoing and incoming mailbox bytes. Replace them with two new functions that send a command and return the feedback data from the command based on the programming flow chart in the datasheet for the PCI-1760. The new adv_pci1760 driver also fixes the incomplete timer subdevice. This subdevice is actually the 2 PWM outputs so the subdevice type has been changed to COMEDI_SUBD_PWM. The counter subdevice support was not complete in the original code. They are also a bit strange since they are up counters connected to each of the digital inputs. For now that subdevice has been disabled (COMEDI_SUBD_UNUSED). 2015-11-15staging: comedi: adv_pci1710: separate out PCI-1720 support as a new driverH Hartley Sweeten1-2/+10
The PCI-1710 series boards are multifunction data acquisition boards with analog inputs and outputs, digital inputs and outputs, and counter/timer functions. The PCI-1720 is a simple 4 channel analog output board. It also uses a unique register map. Separate out the PCI-1720 support as a new driver, adv_pci1720, to ease maintainability. I was going to clean up this driver but looking it over it has a number of serious flaws. Also, Fastwell published an End-Of-Life notification for the board on 24/Jan/2014 (End-of-sale 30/Jun/2014, End-of-delivery 30/Dec/2014). Since the driver has a comedi driver status of "unkown", lets just remove the driver instead of trying to fix the flaws. 2015-05-31staging: comedi: comedi_8255: new module split from 8255Ian Abbott1-6/+12
The Comedi "8255" module is both a standalone Comedi device driver module for simple devices with one or more 8255 "Programmable Peripheral Interface" chips at known I/O base addresses (configured at run-time), and a helper module to configure a 8255-based digital I/O subdevice for other Comedi drivers. Split the "8255 subdevice helper" functionality into a new module: "comedi_8255", leaving the standalone 8255 Comedi driver in the "8255" module. The Comedi "detach" routine of the standalone "8255" driver needs to retrieve the I/O base address passed to the "comedi_8255" module to set up each subdevice in order to release the I/O port regions it requested in its "attach" routine. The "comedi_8255" module stores it in a "subdevice private" data structure that is no longer known to the "8255" module, so add a new, exported function `subdev_8255_regbase()` to retrieve it. This driver uses an 8254 timer to generate the pacer clock used for analog input data conversion. Convert it to use the comedi_8254 module to provide support for the 8254 timer. The hardware actually has two 8254 devices. Timer B0 is the master for timed conversions, timer B1 sets the scan pacing, and tmer A0 sets the conversion pacing. For the conversion, dev->pacer is used for the "B" timers and a new private data member, dev->counter, is used for the "A" timers. All the divisor values are stored in the dev->pacer. Some of the hardware supported by this driver include an 8254 timer. For aesthetics, convert it to use the comedi_8254 module to provide support for the 8254 timer. This also fixes the (*insn_read) and (*insn_write) to work like the comedi API expects. Currently they only read or write a single value. It also fixes the (*insn_config). Currently the driver is attempting to handle the configuration instructions GPCT_RESET and GPCT_SET_OPERATION. These are just arbitrary valuse and are not real comedi configuration_ids. They actually coorespond to: GPCT_RESET -> INSN_CONFIG_DIO_OUTPUT GPCT_SET_OPERATION -> INSN_CONFIG_ANALOG_TRIG The number of parameters for the instructions is validated by the comedi core in check_insn_config_length(). GPCT_RESET happens to work (insn->n == 1) but GPCT_SET_OPERATION would fail. The INSN_CONFIG_ANALOG_TRIG expects insn->n == 5 but GPCT_SET_OPERATION in this driver expects insn->n == 2. Store the data for the 8254 timer used to count samples in the private data. This data needs to be freed by the driver when it is detached. 2015-03-01staging: comedi: comedi_8254: introduce module for 8254 timer supportH Hartley Sweeten1-0/+3
A 8254 timer/counter is commonly used on data acquisition boards to provide the internal pacer clock used to acquire analog input samples. Some boards also to allow the timers to be used externally. Currently the 8254 timers are supported by comedi using the 8253.h header and a number of inline functions. This works for the internal pacer clock but requires the drivers to implement subdevice code necessary to use the timers externally. Introduce a new module to support both the internal pacer clock and the external counter subdevice. This will allow removing a bunch of duplicated code in the drivers and standardizes the comedi 8254 timer support. This implementation is based on the 8253.h inline functions and the various subdevice functionality in the comedi drivers.
