2017-12-14media: staging: remove lirc_zilog driverSean Young1-3/+0
The ir-kbd-i2c driver behaves like the lirc_zilog driver, except it can send raw IR and receives scancodes rather than lirccodes. The lirc_zilog driver only polls if the lirc chardev is opened; similarly the ir-kbd-i2c driver only polls if the corresponding input device is opened, or the lirc device. Polling is disabled during IR transmission through the mutex. The polling period is 402ms in the ir-kdb-i2c driver, and 260ms in the lirc_zilog driver. Pull staging/IIO updates from Greg KH: "Here is the big staging tree update for 4.12-rc1. It's a big one, adding about 350k new lines of crap^Wcode, mostly all in a big dump of media drivers from Intel. But there's other new drivers in here as well, yet-another-wifi driver, new IIO drivers, and a new crypto accelerator. We also deleted a bunch of stuff, mostly in patch cleanups, but also the Android ION code has shrunk a lot, and the Android low memory killer driver was finally deleted, much to the celebration of the -mm developers. All of these have been in linux-next with a few build issues that will show up when you merge to your tree" Merge conflicts in the new rtl8723bs driver (due to the wifi changes this merge window) handled as per linux-next, courtesy of Stephen Rothwell. * tag 'staging-4.12-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/staging: (1182 commits) staging: fsl-mc/dpio: add cpu <--> LE conversion for dpaa2_fd staging: ks7010: remove line continuations in quoted strings staging: vt6656: use tabs instead of spaces staging: android: ion: Fix unnecessary initialization of static variable staging: media: atomisp: fix range checking on clk_num staging: media: atomisp: fix misspelled word in comment staging: media: atomisp: kmap() can't fail staging: atomisp: remove #ifdef for runtime PM functions staging: atomisp: satm include directory is gone atomisp: remove some more unused files atomisp: remove hmm_load/store/clear indirections atomisp: kill off mmgr_free atomisp: clean up the hmm init/cleanup indirections atomisp: handle allocation calls before init in the hmm layer staging: fsl-dpaa2/eth: Add maintainer for Ethernet driver staging: fsl-dpaa2/eth: Add TODO file staging: fsl-dpaa2/eth: Add trace points staging: fsl-dpaa2/eth: Add driver specific stats staging: fsl-dpaa2/eth: Add ethtool support staging: fsl-dpaa2/eth: Add Freescale DPAA2 Ethernet driver ...
2017-04-10[media] s5p-cec: add cec-notifier support, move out of stagingHans Verkuil1-2/+0
By using the CEC notifier framework there is no longer any reason to manually set the physical address. This was the one blocking issue that prevented this driver from going out of staging, so do this move as well. Update the bindings documenting the new hdmi phandle and update exynos4.dtsi accordingly. Tested with my Odroid U3. 2017-03-06staging/atomisp: Add support for the Intel IPU v2Alan Cox1-0/+1
This patch adds support for the Intel IPU v2 as found on Android and IoT Baytrail-T and Baytrail-CR platforms (those with the IPU PCI mapped). You will also need the firmware files from your device (Android usually puts them into /etc) - or you can find them in the downloadable restore/upgrade kits if you blew them away for some reason. It may be possible to extend the driver to handle the BYT/T windows platforms such as the ASUS T100TA. These platforms don't expose the IPU via the PCI interface but via ACPI buried in the GPU description and with the camera information somewhere unknown so would need a platform driver interface adding to the codebase *IFF* the firmware works on such devices. To get good results you also need a suitable support library such as libxcam. The camera is intended to be driven from Android so it has a lot of features that many desktop apps don't fully spport. In theory all the pieces are there to build it with -DISP2401 and some differing files to get CherryTrail/T support, but unifying the drivers properlly is a work in progress. The IPU driver represents the work of a lot of people within Intel over many years. It's historical goal was portability rather than Linux upstream. Any queries about the upstream aimed driver should be sent to me not to the original authors. 2016-07-28[media] staging: add MEDIA_SUPPORT dependencyArnd Bergmann1-1/+1
staging media drivers tend to have a build time dependency on the media support. In particular, the newly added pulse8 cec driver can only be a loadable module if MEDIA_SUPPORT=m, but its build dependency is on a 'bool' symbol (MEDIA_CEC), so a randconfig build can fail with pulse8_cec built-in: drivers/staging/built-in.o: In function `pulse8_disconnect': dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0x114): undefined reference to `cec_unregister_adapter' drivers/staging/built-in.o: In function `pulse8_irq_work_handler': dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0x1bc): undefined reference to `cec_transmit_done' dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0x1d8): undefined reference to `cec_received_msg' dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0x1f4): undefined reference to `cec_transmit_done' dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0x218): undefined reference to `cec_transmit_done' dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0x23c): undefined reference to `cec_transmit_done' drivers/staging/built-in.o: In function `pulse8_connect': dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0x844): undefined reference to `cec_allocate_adapter' dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0x8a4): undefined reference to `cec_delete_adapter' dgnc_utils.c:(.text+0xa10): undefined reference to `cec_register_adapter' Originally, MEDIA_CEC itself was a tristate symbol, which would have prevented this, but since 5bb2399a4fe4 ("[media] cec: fix Kconfig dependency problems"), it doesn't work like that any more. This encloses all of the staging media drivers in a CONFIG_MEDIA_SUPPORT dependency in Kconfig, which solves the problem by enforcing that none of the drivers can be built-in if the media core is a module. 2016-06-28[media] cec: add HDMI CEC framework (api)Hans Verkuil1-0/+2
The added HDMI CEC framework provides a generic kernel interface for HDMI CEC devices. Note that the CEC framework is added to staging/media and that the cec.h and cec-funcs.h headers are not exported yet. While the kABI is mature, I would prefer to allow the uABI some more time before it is mainlined in case it needs more tweaks. This adds the cec-api.c source that deals with the public CEC API and the Kconfig/Makefile plumbing. The MAINTAINERS file is also updated. 2016-02-19[media] timblogiw: move to staging in preparation for removalHans Verkuil1-0/+2
The Timberdale FPGA video driver has not seen any real development since 2011 (and very little before that). One of the problems with the timblogiw driver is that it uses videobuf instead of the newer vb2 framework. The long term goal is to either convert or remove any driver still using videobuf. Since none of the core v4l developers has the hardware, we cannot convert it ourselves. As far as I can tell it was only used in an Intel demo board in 2009 using Meego: http://www.chinait.com/intelcontent/intelprc/admin/PDFFile/20106411545.pdf which has since been superseded. Moving this driver to staging is the first step towards removal. After 2 or 3 kernel cycles it will be removed altogether unless someone steps up to clean up this driver. During the media summit meeting in Edinburgh it was decided to move this driver to staging as the first step to removing it altogether. Most webcams covered by this driver are now supported by gspca. Nobody has the hardware or is willing to convert the remaining devices to gspca. This driver needs a major overhaul to have it conform to the latest frameworks and compliancy tests. Without hardware, however, this is next to impossible. Given the fact that this driver seems to be pretty much unused (it has been removed from Fedora several versions ago and nobody complained about that), we decided to drop this driver. 2014-03-14[media] rtl2832_sdr: Realtek RTL2832 SDR driver moduleAntti Palosaari1-0/+2
Implement SDR driver for Realtek RTL2832U chip as a DVB extension module. SDR module is attached by DVB USB RTL28XXU driver as a DVB SEC (satellite equipment controller) module. Abusing unused SEC here has no harm as that is DVB-T only frontend. SDR functionality is provided by RTL2832 DVB-T demodulator. I suspect it is originally planned for DAB and FM, but it could be abused general SDR, due to modern silicon tuners that has wide frequency range and a lot of configurable parameters (filters, gains, ...). http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.video-input-infrastructure/44461 Signed-off-by: Antti Palosaari <crope@iki.fi> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <m.chehab@samsung.com>
2013-12-20[media] omap24xx/tcm825x: move to staging for future removalHans Verkuil1-0/+2
The omap24xx driver and the tcm825x sensor driver are the only two remaining drivers to still use the old deprecated v4l2-int-device API. Nobody maintains these drivers anymore. But unfortunately the v4l2-int-device API is used by out-of-tree drivers (MXC platform). This is a very bad situation since as long as this deprecated API stays in the kernel there is no reason for those out-of-tree drivers to convert. This patch moves v4l2-int-device and the two drivers that depend on it to staging in preparation for their removal. If someone would be interested in getting these drivers to work, then start with this since it's not very far from the state where they used to work: <URL:http://vihersipuli.retiisi.org.uk/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=~sailus/linux-omap/.git;a=summary> The branch is n800-cam. Porting to up-to-date APIs can then be done. David might have done some work in that area, so check with him first. 2013-12-20[media] sn9c102: prepare for removal by moving it to stagingHans Verkuil1-0/+2
During the last media summit meeting it was decided to move this driver to staging as the first step to removing it altogether. Most webcams covered by this driver are now supported by gspca. Nobody has the hardware to convert the remaining devices to gspca. This patch moves it to staging. Some time in 2014 we will drop it completely.
