2016-01-26staging/speakup: Use tty_ldisc_ref() for paste kworkerPeter Hurley1-1/+4
As the function documentation for tty_ldisc_ref_wait() notes, it is only callable from a tty file_operations routine; otherwise there is no guarantee the ref won't be NULL. The key difference with the VT's paste_selection() is that is an ioctl, where __speakup_paste_selection() is completely async kworker, kicked off from interrupt context. 2015-09-13locking/atomics, cmpxchg: Privatize the inclusion of asm/cmpxchg.hBoqun Feng1-1/+1
After commit: 654672d4ba1a ("locking/atomics: Add _{acquire|release|relaxed}() variants of some atomic operations") Architectures may only provide {cmp,}xchg_relaxed definitions in asm/cmpxchg.h. Other variants, such as {cmp,}xchg, may be built in linux/atomic.h, which means simply including asm/cmpxchg.h may not get the definitions of all the{cmp,}xchg variants. Therefore, we should privatize the inclusions of asm/cmpxchg.h to keep it only included in arch/* and replace the inclusions outside with linux/atomic.h Signed-off-by: Boqun Feng <boqun.feng@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Peter Zijlstra (Intel) <peterz@infradead.org> Acked-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Acked-by: Will Deacon <will.deacon@arm.com> Cc: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Cc: Aybuke Ozdemir <aybuke.147@gmail.com> Cc: Chris Brannon <chris@the-brannons.com> Cc: Davidlohr Bueso <dave@stgolabs.net> Cc: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Cc: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net> Cc: Kirk Reiser <kirk@reisers.ca> Cc: Kishon Vijay Abraham I <kishon@ti.com> Cc: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org> Cc: Paul E. 2014-05-24Staging: speakup: Update __speakup_paste_selection() tty (ab)usage to match vtBen Hutchings1-3/+11
This function is largely a duplicate of paste_selection() in drivers/tty/vt/selection.c, but with its own selection state. The speakup selection mechanism should really be merged with vt. For now, apply the changes from 'TTY: vt, fix paste_selection ldisc handling', 'tty: Make ldisc input flow control concurrency-friendly', and 'tty: Fix unsafe vt paste_selection()'. 2014-05-24Staging: speakup: Move pasting into a work itemBen Hutchings1-6/+32
Input is handled in softirq context, but when pasting we may need to sleep. speakup_paste_selection() currently tries to bodge this by busy-waiting if in_atomic(), but that doesn't help because the ldisc may also sleep. For bonus breakage, speakup_paste_selection() changes the state of current, even though it's not running in process context. Move it into a work item and make sure to cancel it on exit. 2013-02-13pps: Move timestamp read into PPS code properGeorge Spelvin1-0/+1
The PPS (Pulse-Per-Second) line discipline has developed a number of unhealthy attachments to core tty data and functions, ultimately leading to its breakage. The previous patches fixed the crashing. This one reduces coupling further by eliminating the timestamp parameter from the dcd_change ldisc method. This reduces header file linkage and makes the extension more generic, and the timestamp read is delayed only slightly, from just before the ldisc->ops->dcd_change method call to just after. 2013-02-11staging: Remove unnecessary OOM messagesJoe Perches1-1/+0
alloc failures already get standardized OOM messages and a dump_stack. For the affected mallocs around these OOM messages: Converted kzallocs with multiplies to kcalloc. Converted kmallocs with multiplies to kmalloc_array. Converted a kmalloc/strlen/strncpy to kstrdup. Moved a spin_lock below a removed OOM message and removed a now unnecessary spin_unlock.
