Jonathan writes: First set of IIO new device and feature support for the 5.16 cycle Counter subsystem changes now sent separately. This has been a busy cycle, so lots here and a few more stragglers to come next week. Big new feature in this cycle is probably output buffer support. This has been in the works for a very long time so it's great to see Mihail pick up the challenge and build upon his predecessors work to finally bring this feature to mainline. New device support ------------------ * adi,adxl313 - New driver and dt bindings for this low power accelerometer. * adi,adxl355 - New driver and dt bindings for this accelerometer. - Later series adds buffer support. * asahi-kasei,ak8975 - Minor additions to driver to support ak09916 * aspeed,aspeed-adc - Substantial rework plus feature additions to add support for the ast2600 including a new dt bindings doc. * atmel,at91_sama5d2 - Rework and support introduced for the sama7g5 parts. * maxim,max31865 - New driver and bindings for this RTD temperature sensor chip. * nxp,imx8qxp - New driver and bindings for the ADC found on the i.MX 8QuadXPlus Soc. * senseair, sunrise - New driver and bindings for this family of carbon dioxide gas sensors. * sensiron,scd4x - New driver and bindings for this carbon dioxide gas sensor. New features ------------ * Output buffer support. Works in a similar fashion to input buffers, but in this case userspace pushes data into the kfifo which is then drained to the device when a trigger occurs. Support added to the ad5766 DAC driver. * Core, devm_iio_map_array_register() to avoid need for devm_add_action_or_reset() based cleanup in fully managed allocation drivers. * Core iio_push_to_buffers_with_ts_unaligned() function to safely handle a few drivers where it really hard to ensure the correct data alignment in an iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() call. Note this uses a bounce buffer so should be avoided whenever possible. Used in the ti,adc108s102, invense,mpu3050 and adi,adis16400. This closes the last known set of drivers with alignment issues at this interface. * maxim,max1027 - Substantial rework to this driver main target of which was supporting use of other triggers than it's own EOC interrupt. - Transfer optimization. * nxp,fxls8962af - Threshold even support including using it as a wakeup source. Cleanups, minor fixes etc ------------------------- Chances of a common type to multiple drivers: * devm_ conversion and drop of .remove() callbacks in: - adi,ad5064 - adi,ad7291 - adi,ad7303 - adi,ad7746 - adi,ad9832 - adi,adis16080 - dialog,da9150-gpadc - intel,mrfld_adc - marvell,berlin2 - maxim,max1363 - maxim,max44000 - nuvoton,nau7802 - st_sensors (includes a lot of rework!) - ti,ads8344 - ti,lp8788 * devm_platform_ioremap_resource() used to reduce boilerplate - cirrus,ep93xx - rockchip, saradc - stm,stm32-dac * Use dev_err_probe() in more places to both not print on deferred probe and ensure a reason for the deferral is available for debug purposes. - adi,ad8801 - capella,cm36651 - linear,ltc1660 - maxim,ds4424 - maxim,max5821 - microchip,mcp4922 - nxp,lpc18xx - onnn,noa1305 - st,lsm9ds0 - st,st_sensors - st,stm32-dac - ti,afe4403 - ti,afe4404 - ti,dac7311 * Drop error returns in SPI and I2C remove() functions as they are ignored and long term plan is to change these all over to returning void. 2021-10-19staging: r8188eu: Remove redundant 'if' statementFabio M. De Francesco1-6/+0
Remove the redundant first 'if' statement of two identical ones. In rtw_cmd_thread() there are two identical 'if' statement, one immediately after the other. They check whether or not the device is removed or the driver is stopped and, if true, they break a 'while' loop. The only noteworthy context difference is that the second statement is within a block labelled "_next". The code has a 'goto' to the "_next" label so that the checking is performed each time the above directive is encountered. Instead, the first 'if' is before the "_next" label. One of the two must be removed and that it must be the one before the label because "bSurpriseRemoved" as well as "bDriverStopped" may be changed asynchronously by other code of the driver and so they should be checked at each jump to "_next". Tested with "ASUSTek Computer, Inc. Realtek 8188EUS [USB-N10 Nano]". Acked-by: Martin Kaiser <martin@kaiser.cx> Acked-by: Phillip Potter <phil@philpotter.co.uk> Signed-off-by: Fabio M. 2021-10-19staging: r8188eu: Use completions for signaling enqueueingFabio M. De Francesco3-6/+5
rtw_enqueue_cmd() uses a semaphore to notify rtw_cmd_thread() that it has enqueued commands. rtw_cmd_thread() "down(s)" in interruptible mode to wait to be notified. Use completion variables because they are better suited for the purpose. In rtw_cmd_thread(), wait in uninterruptible mode, even if the original code uses down_interruptible(), because the interruption of rtw_cmd_thread() is not allowed and unwanted. Tested with "ASUSTek Computer, Inc. Realtek 8188EUS [USB-N10 Nano]". Acked-by: Phillip Potter <phil@philpotter.co.uk> Signed-off-by: Fabio M. 2021-10-19staging: r8188eu: Use completions for signaling start / end kthreadFabio M. De Francesco3-6/+10
rtw_cmd_thread() "up(s)" a semaphore twice, first to notify callers when its execution is started and then to notify when it is about to end. It makes the same semaphore go "up" twice in the same thread. This construct makes Smatch to warn of duplicate "up(s)". This thread uses interruptible semaphores where instead completions are more suitable. For this purpose it calls an helper (_rtw_down_sema()) that returns values that are never checked. It may lead to bugs. To address the above-mentioned issues, use two completions variables instead of semaphores. Use the uninterruptible versions of wake_for_completion*() because the interruptible / killable versions are not necessary. Tested with "ASUSTek Computer, Inc. Realtek 8188EUS [USB-N10 Nano]". 2021-10-19staging: mt7621-dts: get rid of nodes with no in-tree driverSergio Paracuellos1-36/+0
Nodes for 'i2s' and 'nand' have no driver present inside the linux tree. The normal approach for a dts file to be mainlined is start with those stuff which is already mainlined and get rid of the other stuff. If needed it will be properly added afterwards together with the suitable device driver. Hence, remove both nodes from the device tree include file. 2021-10-19media: cedrus: Don't kernel map most buffersJernej Skrabec3-62/+82
Except for VP8 probability coefficients buffer, all other buffers are never accessed by CPU. That allows us to mark them with DMA_ATTR_NO_KERNEL_MAPPING flag. This helps with decoding big (like 4k) videos on 32-bit ARM platforms where default vmalloc size is relatively small - 240 MiB. Since auxiliary buffer are not yet efficiently allocated, this can be easily exceeded. Even if allocation is optimized, 4k videos will still often exceed this limit. 2021-10-19media: rkvdec: Support dynamic resolution changesChen-Yu Tsai1-20/+20
The mem-to-mem stateless decoder API specifies support for dynamic resolution changes. In particular, the decoder should accept format changes on the OUTPUT queue even when buffers have been allocated, as long as it is not streaming. Relax restrictions for S_FMT as described in the previous paragraph, and as long as the codec format remains the same. This aligns it with the Hantro and Cedrus decoders. This change was mostly based on commit ae02d49493b5 ("media: hantro: Fix s_fmt for dynamic resolution changes"). Since rkvdec_s_fmt() is now just a wrapper around the output/capture variants without any additional shared functionality, drop the wrapper and call the respective functions directly. 2021-10-19media: rkvdec: Do not override sizeimage for output formatChen-Yu Tsai1-2/+3
The rkvdec H.264 decoder currently overrides sizeimage for the output format. This causes issues when userspace requires and requests a larger buffer, but ends up with one of insufficient size. Instead, only provide a default size if none was requested. This fixes the video_decode_accelerator_tests from Chromium failing on the first frame due to insufficient buffer space. It also aligns the behavior of the rkvdec driver with the Hantro and Cedrus drivers. 2021-10-18treewide: Replace 0-element memcpy() destinations with flexible arraysKees Cook3-8/+8
The 0-element arrays that are used as memcpy() destinations are actually flexible arrays. Adjust their structures accordingly so that memcpy() can better reason able their destination size (i.e. they need to be seen as "unknown" length rather than "zero"). In some cases, use of the DECLARE_FLEX_ARRAY() helper is needed when a flexible array is alone in a struct. Cc: "Gustavo A. R. 2021-10-18staging: r8188eu: remove two checks that are always falseMartin Kaiser2-10/+0
Commit aefb1fc5c185 ("staging: r8188eu: odm BoardType is never set") clarified that the odm board type is always 0. The CheckCondition functions extract the board type from the hex parameter and stores it in _board. For _board == 0, (_board == cond) && cond != 0x00 is always false. Remove the checks. 2021-10-17staging: iio: ad9832: convert probe to device-managedAlexandru Ardelean1-46/+36
This change does a conversion of the driver to use device-managed init functions. The 2 regulators and the clock inits are converted to use devm_add_action_or_reset() callbacks for de-initializing them when the driver unloads. And finally the devm_iio_device_register() function can be use to register the device. The remove hook can finally be removed and the spi_set_drvdata() call can also be removed as the private data is no longer used. 2021-10-16scsi: core: Remove the 'done' argument from SCSI queuecommand_lck functionsBart Van Assche2-5/+4
The DEF_SCSI_QCMD() macro passes the addresses of the SCSI host lock and also that of the scsi_done function to the queuecommand_lck() function implementations. Remove the 'scsi_done' argument since its address is now a constant and instead call 'scsi_done' directly from inside the queuecommand_lck() functions.
