Pull Tile arch updates from Chris Metcalf:
"These changes bring in a bunch of new functionality that has been
maintained internally at Tilera over the last year, plus other stray
bits of work that I've taken into the tile tree from other folks.
The changes include some PCI root complex work, interrupt-driven
console support, support for performing fast-path unaligned data
fixups by kernel-based JIT code generation, CONFIG_PREEMPT support,
vDSO support for gettimeofday(), a serial driver for the tilegx
on-chip UART, KGDB support, more optimized string routines, support
for ftrace and kprobes, improved ASLR, and many bug fixes.
We also remove support for the old TILE64 chip, which is no longer
buildable"

Pull powerpc updates from Ben Herrenschmidt:
"Here's the powerpc batch for this merge window. Some of the
highlights are:
- A bunch of endian fixes ! We don't have full LE support yet in that
release but this contains a lot of fixes all over arch/powerpc to
use the proper accessors, call the firmware with the right endian
mode, etc...
- A few updates to our "powernv" platform (non-virtualized, the one
to run KVM on), among other, support for bridging the P8 LPC bus
for UARTs, support and some EEH fixes.
- Some mpc51xx clock API cleanups in preparation for a clock API
overhaul
- A pile of cleanups of our old math emulation code, including better
support for using it to emulate optional FP instructions on

Pull tty/serial driver patches from Greg KH:
"Here's the big tty/serial driver pull request for 3.12-rc1.
Lots of n_tty reworks to resolve some very long-standing issues,
removing the 3-4 different locks that were taken for every character.
This code has been beaten on for a long time in linux-next with no
reported regressions.

Merge recent fixes to lparcfg so subsequent patches can move
the whole file to arch/powerpc/platforms/pseries

This solves a problem observed in kexec'ed kernel where 200ms timeout is
too short and bootconsole fails to initialize. Console did eventually
become workable but much later into the boot process.
Observed timeout was around 260ms, but I decided to make it a little bigger
for more reliability.
This has been tested on Power7 machine with Petitboot as a primary
bootloader and PowerNV firmware.

This change improves and cleans up the tile console.
- We enable HVC_IRQ support on tilegx, with the addition of a new
Tilera hypervisor API for tilegx to allow a console IPI. If IPI
support is not available we fall back to the previous polling mode.
- We simplify the earlyprintk code to use CON_BOOT and eliminate some
of the other supporting earlyprintk code.
- A new tile_console_write() primitive is used to send output to
the console and is factored out of the hvc_tile driver.
This lets us support a "sim_console" boot argument to allow using
simulator hooks to send output to the "console" as a slightly
faster alternative to emulating the hardware more directly.

Implement the dtr_rts() hvc console callback to improve control when to
disconnect the IUCV connection. Previously, the IUCV connection was
disconnected during the notifier_del() callback, i.e., when the last file
descriptor to the hvc terminal device was closed.
Recent changes in login programs caused undesired disconnects during the
login phase. To prevent these kind of disconnects, implement the dtr_rts
callback to implicitly handle the HUPCL termios control via the hvc_console
driver.

Introduce a new callback to explicitly handle the HUPCL termios control flag.
This prepares for a follow-up commit for the hvc_iucv device driver to
improve handling when to drop an established network connection.
The callback naming is based on the recently added tty_port interface to
facilitate a potential refactoring of the hvc_console to use tty_port
functions.

It allows for cleaning up on a considerable amount of places. They did
port_get, wakeup, kref_put. Now the only thing needed is to call
tty_port_tty_wakeup which does exactly that.
One exception is ifx6x60 where tty_wakeup was open-coded. We now call
tty_wakeup properly there.

when strlen pi->location_code is larger than HVCS_CLC_LENGTH + 1,
original implementation can not let hvcsd->p_location_code NUL terminated.
so need fix it (also can simplify the code)

"This has two new ACPI drivers for Xen - a physical CPU offline/online
and a memory hotplug. The way this works is that ACPI kicks the
drivers and they make the appropiate hypercall to the hypervisor to
tell it that there is a new CPU or memory. There also some changes to
the Xen ARM ABIs and couple of fixes. One particularly nasty bug in
the Xen PV spinlock code was fixed by Stefan Bader - and has been
there since the 2.6.32!

ioremap can't be used to map ring pages on ARM because it uses device
memory caching attributes (MT_DEVICE*).
Introduce a Xen specific abstraction to map ring pages, called
xen_remap, that is defined as ioremap on x86 (no behavioral changes).
On ARM it explicitly calls __arm_ioremap with the right caching
attributes: MT_MEMORY.

The option allows you to remove TTY and compile without errors. This
saves space on systems that won't support TTY interfaces anyway.
bloat-o-meter output is below.
The bulk of this patch consists of Kconfig changes adding "depends on
TTY" to various serial devices and similar drivers that require the TTY
layer. Ideally, these dependencies would occur on a common intermediate
symbol such as SERIO, but most drivers "select SERIO" rather than
"depends on SERIO", and "select" does not respect dependencies.
bloat-o-meter output comparing our previous minimal to new minimal by
removing TTY. The list is filtered to not show removed entries with awk
'$3 != "-"' as the list was very long.

Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use
tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many
call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more
tty_port_tty_get in those paths.
Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed:
tty_flip_buffer_push.
IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get
at all yet.
Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h
to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it
anyway.

After commit "TTY: move tty buffers to tty_port", the tty buffers are
not freed in some drivers. This is because tty_port_destructor is not
called whenever a tty_port is freed. This was an assumption I counted
with but was unfortunately untrue. So fix the drivers to fulfil this
assumption.
To be sure, the TTY buffers (and later some stuff) are gone along with
the tty_port, we have to call tty_port_destroy at tear-down places.
This is mostly where the structure containing a tty_port is freed.
This patch does exactly that -- put tty_port_destroy at those places.

Commit bdb498c20040 "TTY: hvc_console, add tty install" took the port
refcounting out of hvc_open()/hvc_close(), but failed to remove the
kref_put() and tty_kref_put() calls in hvc_hangup() that were there to
remove the extra references that hvc_open() had taken.
The result was that doing a vhangup() when the current terminal was
a hvc_console, then closing the current terminal, would end up calling
destroy_hvc_struct() and making the port disappear entirely. This
meant that Fedora 17 systems would boot up but then not display the
login prompt on the console, and attempts to open /dev/hvc0 would
give a "No such device" error.
This fixes it by removing the extra kref_put() and tty_kref_put() calls.

Pull Xen fixes from Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk:
"This has four bug-fixes and one tiny feature that I forgot to put
initially in my tree due to oversight.
The feature is for kdump kernels to speed up the /proc/vmcore reading.
There is a ram_is_pfn helper function that the different platforms can
register for. We are now doing that.
The bug-fixes cover some embarrassing struct pv_cpu_ops variables
being set to NULL on Xen (but not baremetal). We had a similar issue
in the past with {write|read}_msr_safe and this fills the three
missing ones. The other bug-fix is to make the console output (hvc)
be capable of dealing with misbehaving backends and not fall flat on
its face. Lastly, a quirk for older XenBus implementations that came
with an ancient v3.4 hypervisor (so RHEL5 based) - reading of certain
non-existent attributes just hangs the guest during bootup - so we
take precaution of not doing that on such older installations.
Feature:
- Register a pfn_is_ram helper to speed up reading of /proc/vmcore.
Bug-fixes:
- Three pvops call for Xen were undefined causing BUG_ONs.
- Add a quirk so that the shutdown watches (used by kdump) are not
used with older Xen (3.4).
- Fix ungraceful state transition for the HVC console."

Backend drivers shouldn't transistion to CLOSED unless the frontend is
CLOSED. If a backend does transition to CLOSED too soon then the
frontend may not see the CLOSING state and will not properly shutdown.
So, treat an unexpected backend CLOSED state the same as CLOSING.

Pull workqueue changes from Tejun Heo:
"This is workqueue updates for v3.7-rc1. A lot of activities this
round including considerable API and behavior cleanups.
* delayed_work combines a timer and a work item. The handling of the
timer part has always been a bit clunky leading to confusing
cancelation API with weird corner-case behaviors. delayed_work is
updated to use new IRQ safe timer and cancelation now works as
expected.
* Another deficiency of delayed_work was lack of the counterpart of
mod_timer() which led to cancel+queue combinations or open-coded
timer+work usages. mod_delayed_work[_on]() are added.
These two delayed_work changes make delayed_work provide interface
and behave like timer which is executed with process context.
* A work item could be executed concurrently on multiple CPUs, which
is rather unintuitive and made flush_work() behavior confusing and
half-broken under certain circumstances. This problem doesn't
exist for non-reentrant workqueues. While non-reentrancy check
isn't free, the overhead is incurred only when a work item bounces
across different CPUs and even in simulated pathological scenario
the overhead isn't too high.
All workqueues are made non-reentrant. This removes the
distinction between flush_[delayed_]work() and
flush_[delayed_]_work_sync(). The former is now as strong as the
latter and the specified work item is guaranteed to have finished
execution of any previous queueing on return.
* In addition to the various bug fixes, Lai redid and simplified CPU
hotplug handling significantly.
* Joonsoo introduced system_highpri_wq and used it during CPU
hotplug.
There are two merge commits - one to pull in IRQ safe timer from
tip/timers/core and the other to pull in CPU hotplug fixes from
wq/for-3.6-fixes as Lai's hotplug restructuring depended on them."
Fixed a number of trivial conflicts, but the more interesting conflicts
were silent ones where the deprecated interfaces had been used by new
code in the merge window, and thus didn't cause any real data conflicts.
Tejun pointed out a few of them, I fixed a couple more.

HVC returns a size of -1 bytes for the write room in some cases.
This is bogus and not handled by the tty layer at all.

The pseries hvterm driver only registers a udbg backend (for xmon and
other low level debugging mechanisms) when hvc0 is recognized as the
firmware console at boot time, not if it's detected later on, for
example because the firmware is using a graphics card.
This can make debugging challenging especially under X11, and there's
really no good reason for that limitation, so let's hookup udbg
whenever hvc0 is detected instead.

hvc_console has two methods to instanciate the consoles.
hvc_instanciate is meant to be called at early boot, while hvc_alloc is
called for more dynamically probed objects.
Currently, it only deals with adding kernel consoles in the former case,
which means for example that if a console only uses dynamic probing, it
will never be usable as a kernel console even when specifying
console=hvc0 explicitly, which could be considered annoying...
More specifically, on pseries, we only do the early instanciate for the
console currently used by the firmware, so if you have your firmware
configured to go to a video card, for example, you cannot get your
kernel console, oops messages, etc... on your serial port or hypervisor
console, which would be handy to deal with oopses.
This fixes it by checking if hvc_console.flags & CON_ENABLED is set when
registering a new dynamic console, and if not, redo the index check and
re-register the console if the index matches, allowing console=hvcN to
work.

flush[_delayed]_work_sync() are now spurious. Mark them deprecated
and convert all users to flush[_delayed]_work().
If you're cc'd and wondering what's going on: Now all workqueues are
non-reentrant and the regular flushes guarantee that the work item is
not pending or running on any CPU on return, so there's no reason to
use the sync flushes at all and they're going away.
This patch doesn't make any functional difference.

So now for those drivers that can use neither tty_port_install nor
tty_port_register_driver but still have tty_port available before
tty_register_driver we use newly added tty_port_link_device.
The rest of the drivers that still do not provide tty_struct <->
tty_port link will have to be converted to implement
tty->ops->install.
