When "dump_apple_properties" is used on the kernel boot command line,
it causes an Unknown parameter message and the string is added to init's
argument strings:
Unknown kernel command line parameters "dump_apple_properties
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/bzImage-517rc6 efivar_ssdt=newcpu_ssdt", will be
passed to user space.
Run /sbin/init as init process
with arguments:
/sbin/init
dump_apple_properties
with environment:
HOME=/
TERM=linux
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/bzImage-517rc6
efivar_ssdt=newcpu_ssdt
Similarly when "efivar_ssdt=somestring" is used, it is added to the
Unknown parameter message and to init's environment strings, polluting
them (see examples above).
Change the return value of the __setup functions to 1 to indicate
that the __setup options have been handled.

In commit d687e056a18f ("soc: mediatek: mmsys: Add mt8192 mmsys routing table"),
the mmsys routing table for mt8192 was introduced but the input selector
for DITHER->DSI0 has no value assigned to it.
This means that we are clearing bit 0 instead of setting it, blocking
communication between these two blocks; due to that, any display that
is connected to DSI0 will not work, as no data will go through.
The effect of that issue is that, during bootup, the DRM will block for
some time, while atomically waiting for a vblank that never happens;
later, the situation doesn't get better, leaving the display in a
non-functional state.
To fix this issue, fix the route entry in the table by assigning the
dither input selector to MT8192_DISP_DSI0_SEL_IN.

Because there is no way to detect if the touchscreen has pen support,
the driver is allocating and registering the input_pen input_dev on
receiving the first pen event.
But this means that the input_dev gets allocated after the request_irq()
call which means that the devm framework will free it before disabling
the irq, leaving a window where the irq handler may run and reference the
free-ed input_dev.
To fix this move the allocation of the input_pen input_dev to before
the request_irq() call, while still only registering it on the first pen
event so that the driver does not advertise pen capability on touchscreens
without it (most goodix touchscreens do not have pen support).

The input core's error handling for input_alloc_absinfo() failures
is based on ignoring the error until input_register_device() runs
and then checks for the failure like this:
if (test_bit(EV_ABS, dev->evbit) && !dev->absinfo) {
dev_err(&dev->dev, ...);
return -EINVAL;
}
This relies on EV_ABS actually getting set in dev->evbit even
if input_alloc_absinfo() fails, change input_set_abs_params() and
input_set_capability() to actually adhere to this.

MT8192 contains an experimental Accelerator Coherency Port
implementation, which does not work correctly but was unintentionally
enabled by default. For correct operation of the GPU, we must set a
chicken bit disabling ACP on MT8192.
Adapted from the following downstream change to the out-of-tree, legacy
Mali GPU driver:
https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromiumos/third_party/kernel/+/2781271/5
Note this change is required for both Panfrost and the legacy kernel
driver.

ACPI/x86 devices with a Cherry Trail SoC should have a GpioInt + a regular
GPIO ACPI resource in their ACPI tables.
Some CHT devices have a bug, where the also is bogus interrupt resource
(likely copied from a previous Bay Trail based generation of the device).
The i2c-core-acpi code will assign the bogus, non-working, interrupt
resource to client->irq. Add a workaround to fix this up.

mlx5-next 2022-22-02
The following PR includes updates to mlx5-next branch:
Headlines:
==========
1) Jakub cleans up unused static inline functions
2) I did some low level firmware command interface return status changes to
provide the caller with full visibility on the error/status returned by
the Firmware.
3) Use the new command interface in RDMA DEVX usecases to avoid flooding
dmesg with some "expected" user error prone use cases.
4) Moshe also uses the new command interface to grab the specific error
code from MFRL register command to provide the exact error reason for
why SW reset couldn't perform internally in FW.
5) From Mark Bloch: Lag, drop packets in hardware when possible
In active-backup mode the inactive interface's packets are dropped by the
bond device. In switchdev where TC rules are offloaded to the FDB
this can lead to packets being hit in the FDB where without offload
they would have been dropped before reaching TC rules in the kernel.
Create a drop rule to make sure packets on inactive ports are dropped
before reaching the FDB.
Listen on NETDEV_CHANGEUPPER / NETDEV_CHANGEINFODATA events and record
the inactive state and offload accordingly.
* 'mlx5-next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mellanox/linux:

This driver, like several others, uses a chained IRQ for each GPIO bank,
and forwards .irq_set_wake to the GPIO bank's upstream IRQ. As a result,
a call to irq_set_irq_wake() needs to lock both the upstream and
downstream irq_desc's. Lockdep considers this to be a possible deadlock
when the irq_desc's share lockdep classes, which they do by default:

Silence this erroneous lockdep splat by applying what appears to be the
usual fix of moving the GPIO IRQs to separate lockdep classes.

Changes introduced since the merge window in the spi subsystem and

the newly added dm9051 driver fail to build. This patch fixes this
issue, converting the remove() function provided by the driver to return

spi: Make remove() return void
This series from Uwe Kleine-König converts the spi remove function to
return void since there is nothing useful that we can do with a failure
and it as more buses are converted it'll enable further work on the

Similar to "igc_read_phy_reg_gpy: drop premature return" patch.
igc_write_phy_reg_gpy checks the return value from igc_write_phy_reg_mdic
and if it's not 0, returns immediately. By doing this, it leaves the HW
semaphore in the acquired state.
Drop this premature return statement, the function returns after
releasing the semaphore immediately anyway.

not provide the real function instance. This means that currently, devices

Taking spinlocks from IRQ context is generally problematic for
PREEMPT_RT. That is, in part, why we take trylocks instead. However, a
spin_try_lock() is also problematic since another spin_lock() invocation
can potentially PI-boost the wrong task, as the spin_try_lock() is
invoked from an IRQ-context, so the task on CPU (random task or idle) is
not the actual owner.
Additionally, by deferring the crng pre-init loading to the worker, we
can use the cryptographic hash function rather than xor, which is
perhaps a meaningful difference when considering this data has only been
through the relatively weak fast_mix() function.
The biggest downside of this approach is that the pre-init loading is
now deferred until later, which means things that need random numbers
after interrupts are enabled, but before workqueues are running -- or
before this particular worker manages to run -- are going to get into
trouble. Hopefully in the real world, this window is rather small,
especially since this code won't run until 64 interrupts had occurred.

random_get_entropy() returns a cycles_t, not an unsigned long, which is
sometimes 64 bits on various 32-bit platforms, including x86.
Conversely, jiffies is always unsigned long. This commit fixes things to
use cycles_t for fields that use random_get_entropy(), named "cycles",
and unsigned long for fields that use jiffies, named "now". It's also
good to mix in a cycles_t and a jiffies in the same way for both
add_device_randomness and add_timer_randomness, rather than using xor in
one case. Finally, we unify the order of these volatile reads, always
reading the more precise cycles counter, and then jiffies, so that the
cycle counter is as close to the event as possible.
