2006-03-28[PATCH] Make most file operations structs in fs/ constArjan van de Ven1-1/+1
This is a conversion to make the various file_operations structs in fs/ const. Basically a regexp job, with a few manual fixups The goal is both to increase correctness (harder to accidentally write to shared datastructures) and reducing the false sharing of cachelines with things that get dirty in .data (while .rodata is nicely read only and thus cache clean) Signed-off-by: Arjan van de Ven <arjan@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2006-03-26BUG_ON() Conversion in fs/ext2/Eric Sesterhenn1-4/+2
this changes if() BUG(); constructs to BUG_ON() which is cleaner, contains unlikely() and can better optimized away. Signed-off-by: Eric Sesterhenn <snakebyte@gmx.de> Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de>
2006-03-15[PATCH] Fix ext2 readdir f_pos re-validation logicAl Viro1-16/+12
This fixes not one, but _two_, silly (but admittedly hard to hit) bugs in the ext2 filesystem "readdir()" function. It also cleans up the code to avoid the unnecessary goto mess. The bugs were related to re-valiating the f_pos value after somebody had either done an "lseek()" on the directory to an invalid offset, or when the offset had become invalid due to a file being unlinked in the directory. The code would not only set the f_version too eagerly, it would also not update f_pos appropriately for when the offset fixup took place. When that happened, we'd occasionally subsequently fail the readdir() even when we shouldn't (no real harm done, but an ugly printk, and obviously you would end up not necessarily seeing all entries). Thanks to Masoud Sharbiani <masouds@google.com> who noticed the problem and had a test-case for it, and also fixed up a thinko in the first version of this patch. 2006-01-11ext2: trivial indentation fix.Luiz Fernando Capitulino1-1/+1
This memset() line was indented with seven spaces, this patch fixes it to use a tab instead. Yes, very trivial but it's the third time I have to look at this line.. Signed-off-by: Luiz Capitulino <lcapitulino@mandriva.com.br> Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
