2017-12-07kobject: Remove redundant license textGreg Kroah-Hartman1-2/+0
Now that the SPDX tag is in all kobject files, that identifies the license in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording can be removed as it is no longer needed at all. This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never needed. No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed. 2017-12-07kobject: add SPDX identifiers to all kobject filesGreg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to audit the kernel tree for correct licenses. Update the kobject files files with the correct SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This work is based on a script and data from Thomas Gleixner, Philippe Ombredanne, and Kate Stewart. 2013-08-28sysfs: Restrict mounting sysfsEric W. Biederman1-0/+2
Don't allow mounting sysfs unless the caller has CAP_SYS_ADMIN rights over the net namespace. The principle here is if you create or have capabilities over it you can mount it, otherwise you get to live with what other people have mounted. Instead of testing this with a straight forward ns_capable call, perform this check the long and torturous way with kobject helpers, this keeps direct knowledge of namespaces out of sysfs, and preserves the existing sysfs abstractions. 2011-06-12Delay struct net freeing while there's a sysfs instance refering to itAl Viro1-4/+6
* new refcount in struct net, controlling actual freeing of the memory * new method in kobj_ns_type_operations (->drop_ns()) * ->current_ns() semantics change - it's supposed to be followed by corresponding ->drop_ns(). For struct net in case of CONFIG_NET_NS it bumps the new refcount; net_drop_ns() decrements it and calls net_free() if the last reference has been dropped. Method renamed to ->grab_current_ns(). * old net_free() callers call net_drop_ns() instead. * sysfs_exit_ns() is gone, along with a large part of callchain leading to it; now that the references stored in ->ns[...] stay valid we do not need to hunt them down and replace them with NULL. That fixes problems in sysfs_lookup() and sysfs_readdir(), along with getting rid of sb->s_instances abuse. Note that struct net *shutdown* logics has not changed - net_cleanup() is called exactly when it used to be called. The only thing postponed by having a sysfs instance refering to that struct net is actual freeing of memory occupied by struct net. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2010-08-23kobject: Break the kobject namespace defs into their own headerDavid Howells1-0/+56
Break the kobject namespace defs into their own header to avoid a header file inclusion ordering problem between linux/sysfs.h and linux/kobject.h. This fixes the build breakage on older versions of gcc. Signed-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com> Cc: Eric Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
