2013-02-07ssb: get mac address from sprom struct for gige driverHauke Mehrtens1-12/+11
The mac address is already stored in the sprom structure by the platform code of the SoC this Ethernet core is found on, it just has to be fetched from this structure instead of accessing the nvram here. This patch also adds a return value to indicate if a mac address could be fetched from the sprom structure. When CONFIG_SSB_DRIVER_GIGE is not set the header file now also declares ssb_gige_get_macaddr(). 2013-01-30ssb: add gpio_to_irqHauke Mehrtens1-0/+5
The old bcm47xx gpio code had support for gpio_to_irq, but the new code did not provide this function, but returned -ENXIO all the time. This patch adds the missing function. arch/mips/bcm47xx/wgt634u.c calls gpio_to_irq() and got the correct irq number with the old gpio handling code. Register the watchdog driver to the system if it is a SoC. Using the watchdog on a non SoC device, like a PCI card, will make the PCI card die when the timeout expired, but starting it again is not supported by ssb. If CONFIG_SSB_EMBEDDED or CONFIG_SSB_DRIVER_MIPS is set and CONFIG_SSB_DRIVER_EXTIF is not set, it will cause compile problems because of missing functions. This patch fixes these problems. Register a GPIO driver to access the GPIOs provided by the chip. The GPIOs of the SoC should always start at 0 and the other GPIOs could start at a random position. There is just one SoC in a system and when they start at 0 the number is predictable. The attribute country_code and alpha2 are two different attributes in the sprom. country_code contains some code in an 8 bit coding and alpha2 contains two chars with the country code. The attributes where read out wrongly in the past and country_code is only available on sprom version 1. 2012-05-16ssb: remove rev from boardinfoHauke Mehrtens1-1/+0
Previously the rev contained the revision read from the pci config space and was used as board_rev in the wireless drivers. This is wrong the board_rev is only fetched from the sprom accordingly to the open source part of the Broadcom SDK and brcmsmac. This patch removes the rev from the boardinfo structure and uses the board_rev attribute from sprom instead. This attribute is filled by PCI, PCMCIA, SDIO and SoC code. There is no 2.4 GHz or 5GHz antenna gain stored in sprom. The sprom just stores the gain values for antenna 1 and 2 or 1 to 4 for more recent sprom versions. Some parts of the sprom struct are bigger than needed. The leddc and maxpwr values are just 8 bit long and not 16. rxpo2g and rxpo5g are signed I got these information for the open source part of the Broadcom SDK covering sprom version 1 to 9. rxpo2g contained a negative number on my bcm5354 based device, this cased an error and Broadcom SDK says this is signed. If a header file is making use of BUG, BUG_ON, BUILD_BUG_ON, or any other BUG variant in a static inline (i.e. not in a #define) then that header really should be including <linux/bug.h> and not just expecting it to be implicitly present. We can make this change risk-free, since if the files using these headers didn't have exposure to linux/bug.h already, they would have been causing compile failures/warnings. We already extract some basic info but it's incomplete, reads info about the first core only. Used data structure doesn't allow easy adding of more cores. This patch adds new struct and array for storing power info. The plan is to: switch all extractors (including the ones using NVRAM) to new struct, switch drivers, then deprecate and finally drop old SSB fields. The original implementations reference THIS_MODULE in an inline. We could include <linux/export.h>, but it is better to avoid chaining. Fortunately someone else already thought of this, and made a similar inline into a #define in <linux/device.h> for device_schedule_callback(), [see commit 523ded71de0] so follow that precedent here. Also bubble up any __must_check that were used on the prev. wrapper inline functions up one to the real __register functions, to preserve any prev. sanity checks that were used in those instances. 2011-05-19SSB: Change fallback sprom to callback mechanism.Hauke Mehrtens1-1/+3
Some embedded devices like the Netgear WNDR3300 have two SSB based cards without an own sprom on the pci bus. We have to provide two different fallback sproms for these and this was not possible with the old solution. In the bcm47xx architecture the sprom data is stored in the nvram in the main flash storage. The architecture code will be able to fill the sprom with the stored data based on the bus where the device was found. The bcm63xx code should do the same thing as before, just using the new API. The nvram_get function was never in the mainline kernel, it only existed in an external OpenWrt patch. Use nvram_getenv function, which is in mainline and use an include instead of an extra function declaration. et0macaddr contains the mac address in text from like 00:11:22:33:44:55. We have to parse it before adding it into macaddr. nvram_parse_macaddr will be merged into asm/mach-bcm47xx/nvram.h through the MIPS git tree and will be available soon. It will not build now without nvram_parse_macaddr, but it hasn't before either.
