2014-04-01introduce copy_page_to_iter, kill loop over iovec in generic_file_aio_read()Al Viro1-0/+2
generic_file_aio_read() was looping over the target iovec, with loop over (source) pages nested inside that. Just set an iov_iter up and pass *that* to do_generic_file_aio_read(). With copy_page_to_iter() doing all work of mapping and copying a page to iovec and advancing iov_iter. Switch shmem_file_aio_read() to the same and kill file_read_actor(), while we are at it. 2013-05-20Hoist memcpy_fromiovec/memcpy_toiovec into lib/Rusty Russell1-0/+3
ERROR: "memcpy_fromiovec" [drivers/vhost/vhost_scsi.ko] undefined! That function is only present with CONFIG_NET. Turns out that crypto/algif_skcipher.c also uses that outside net, but it actually needs sockets anyway. In addition, commit 6d4f0139d642c45411a47879325891ce2a7c164a added CONFIG_NET dependency to CONFIG_VMCI for memcpy_toiovec, so hoist that function and revert that commit too. socket.h already includes uio.h, so no callers need updating; trying only broke things fo x86_64 randconfig (thanks Fengguang!). 2009-07-29uio: mark uio.h functions __KERNEL__ onlyJiri Slaby1-9/+8
To avoid userspace build failures such as: .../linux/uio.h:37: error: expected `=', `,', `;', `asm' or `__attribute__' before `iov_length' .../linux/uio.h:47: error: expected declaration specifiers or `...' before `size_t' move uio functions inside a __KERNEL__ block. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
