2009-12-04[SCSI] libfc: fix free of fc_rport_priv with timer pendingJoe Eykholt1-0/+1
Timer crashes were caused by freeing a struct fc_rport_priv with a timer pending, causing the timer facility list to be corrupted. This was during FC uplink flap tests with a lot of targets. After discovery, we were doing an PLOGI on an rdata that was in DELETE state but not yet removed from the lookup list. This moved the rdata from DELETE state to PLOGI state. If the PLOGI exchange allocation failed and needed to be retried, the timer scheduling could race with the free being done by fc_rport_work(). When fc_rport_login() is called on a rport in DELETE state, move it to a new state RESTART. In fc_rport_work, when handling a LOGO, STOPPED or FAILED event, look for restart state. In the RESTART case, don't take the rdata off the list and after the transport remote port is deleted and exchanges are reset, re-login to the remote port. Note that the new RESTART state also corrects a problem we had when re-discovering a port that had moved to DELETE state. In that case, a new rdata was created, but the old rdata would do an exchange manager reset affecting the FC_ID for both the new rdata and old rdata. With the new state, the new port isn't logged into until after any old exchanges are reset. 2009-12-04[SCSI] libfc: Fix frags in frame exceeding SKB_MAX_FRAGS in fc_fcp_send_dataYi Zou1-0/+3
In case of sequence offload, in fc_fcp_send_data(), the skb_fill_page_info() called may end up adding more frags to the skb_shinfo(fp_skb(fp))->frags[], exceeding SKB_MAX_FRAGS, this eventually corrupts the memory. I am adding the FR_FRAME_SG_LEN back, but as SKB_MAX_FRAGS -1, leaving 1 for our fcoe_eof_crc page. And send will be broken into multiple large sends if the frame already contains more frags than skb handle. 2009-10-29strstrip(): mark as as must_checkKOSAKI Motohiro1-1/+1
strstrip() can return a modified value of its input argument, when removing elading whitesapce. So it is surely bug for this function's return value to be ignored. 2009-10-29param: fix lots of bugs with writing charp params from sysfs, by leaking mem.Rusty Russell1-1/+0
e180a6b7759a "param: fix charp parameters set via sysfs" fixed the case where charp parameters written via sysfs were freed, leaving drivers accessing random memory. Unfortunately, storing a flag in the kparam struct was a bad idea: it's rodata so setting it causes an oops on some archs. But that's not all: 1) module_param_array() on charp doesn't work reliably, since we use an uninitialized temporary struct kernel_param. 2) there's a fundamental race if a module uses this parameter and then it's changed: they will still access the old, freed, memory. The simplest fix (ie. for 2.6.32) is to never free the memory. This prevents all these problems, at cost of a memory leak. In practice, there are only 18 places where a charp is writable via sysfs, and all are root-only writable. 2009-10-22virtio: let header files include virtio_ids.hChristian Borntraeger7-0/+7
Rusty, commit 3ca4f5ca73057a617f9444a91022d7127041970a virtio: add virtio IDs file moved all device IDs into a single file. While the change itself is a very good one, it can break userspace applications. For example if a userspace tool wanted to get the ID of virtio_net it used to include virtio_net.h. This does no longer work, since virtio_net.h does not include virtio_ids.h. This patch moves all "#include <linux/virtio_ids.h>" from the C files into the header files, making the header files compatible with the old ones. In addition, this patch exports virtio_ids.h to userspace. 2009-10-12mac80211: document ieee80211_rx() context requirementJohannes Berg1-0/+2
ieee80211_rx() must be called with softirqs disabled since the networking stack requires this for netif_rx() and some code in mac80211 can assume that it can not be processing its own tasklet and this call at the same time. It may be possible to remove this requirement after a careful audit of mac80211 and doing any needed locking improvements in it along with disabling softirqs around netif_rx(). An alternative might be to push all packet processing to process context in mac80211, instead of to the tasklet, and add other synchronisation. 2009-10-09USB: serial: don't call release without attachAlan Stern1-0/+1
This patch (as1295) fixes a recently-added bug in the USB serial core. If certain kinds of errors occur during probing, the core may call a serial driver's release method without previously calling the attach method. 2009-10-07tracing: correct module boundaries for ftrace_releasejolsa@redhat.com1-1/+1
When the module is about the unload we release its call records. The ftrace_release function was given wrong values representing the module core boundaries, thus not releasing its call records. Plus making ftrace_release function module specific.
