2022-05-13futex: Remove a PREEMPT_RT_FULL reference.Sebastian Andrzej Siewior1-1/+1
Earlier the PREEMPT_RT patch had a PREEMPT_RT_FULL and PREEMPT_RT_BASE Kconfig option. The latter was a subset of the functionality that was enabled with PREEMPT_RT_FULL and was mainly useful for debugging. During the merging efforts the two Kconfig options were abandoned in the v5.4.3-rt1 release and since then there is only PREEMPT_RT which enables the full features set (as PREEMPT_RT_FULL did in earlier releases). Replace the PREEMPT_RT_FULL reference with PREEMPT_RT. 2022-03-21mm/truncate: Inline invalidate_complete_page() into its one callerMatthew Wilcox (Oracle)1-1/+1
invalidate_inode_page() is the only caller of invalidate_complete_page() and inlining it reveals that the first check is unnecessary (because we hold the page locked, and we just retrieved the mapping from the page). Actually, it does make a difference, in that tail pages no longer fail at this check, so it's now possible to remove a tail page from a mapping. 2022-01-17Merge branch 'signal-for-v5.17' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespaceLinus Torvalds1-1/+1
Pull signal/exit/ptrace updates from Eric Biederman: "This set of changes deletes some dead code, makes a lot of cleanups which hopefully make the code easier to follow, and fixes bugs found along the way. The end-game which I have not yet reached yet is for fatal signals that generate coredumps to be short-circuit deliverable from complete_signal, for force_siginfo_to_task not to require changing userspace configured signal delivery state, and for the ptrace stops to always happen in locations where we can guarantee on all architectures that the all of the registers are saved and available on the stack. Removal of profile_task_ext, profile_munmap, and profile_handoff_task are the big successes for dead code removal this round. A bunch of small bug fixes are included, as most of the issues reported were small enough that they would not affect bisection so I simply added the fixes and did not fold the fixes into the changes they were fixing. There was a bug that broke coredumps piped to systemd-coredump. I dropped the change that caused that bug and replaced it entirely with something much more restrained. Unfortunately that required some rebasing. Some successes after this set of changes: There are few enough calls to do_exit to audit in a reasonable amount of time. The lifetime of struct kthread now matches the lifetime of struct task, and the pointer to struct kthread is no longer stored in set_child_tid. The flag SIGNAL_GROUP_COREDUMP is removed. The field group_exit_task is removed. Issues where task->exit_code was examined with signal->group_exit_code should been examined were fixed. There are several loosely related changes included because I am cleaning up and if I don't include them they will probably get lost. 2021-12-13exit: Move oops specific logic from do_exit into make_task_deadEric W. Biederman1-1/+1
The beginning of do_exit has become cluttered and difficult to read as it is filled with checks to handle things that can only happen when the kernel is operating improperly. 2021-10-07futex: Implement sys_futex_waitv()André Almeida3-0/+335
Add support to wait on multiple futexes. This is the interface implemented by this syscall: futex_waitv(struct futex_waitv *waiters, unsigned int nr_futexes, unsigned int flags, struct timespec *timeout, clockid_t clockid) struct futex_waitv { __u64 val; __u64 uaddr; __u32 flags; __u32 __reserved; }; Given an array of struct futex_waitv, wait on each uaddr. The thread wakes if a futex_wake() is performed at any uaddr. The syscall returns immediately if any waiter has *uaddr != val. *timeout is an optional absolute timeout value for the operation. This syscall supports only 64bit sized timeout structs. The flags argument of the syscall should be empty, but it can be used for future extensions. Flags for shared futexes, sizes, etc. should be used on the individual flags of each waiter. __reserved is used for explicit padding and should be 0, but it might be used for future extensions. If the userspace uses 32-bit pointers, it should make sure to explicitly cast it when assigning to waitv::uaddr. Returns the array index of one of the woken futexes. There’s no given information of how many were woken, or any particular attribute of it (if it’s the first woken, if it is of the smaller index...). 2021-10-07futex: Simplify double_lock_hb()Peter Zijlstra1-8/+6
We need to make sure that all requeue operations take the hash bucket locks in the same order to avoid deadlock.
