2012-03-31tick: Document TICK_ONESHOT config optionThomas Gleixner1-0/+4
This option has been selected from arch code as it was assumed that it's necessary to support oneshot mode clockevent devices. But it's just a core internal helper to compile tick-oneshot.c if NOHZ or HIG_RES_TIMERS are selected. 2011-11-29clockevents: drop unknown Kconfig symbol GENERIC_CLOCKEVENTS_MIGRPaul Bolle1-1/+1
There's no Kconfig symbol GENERIC_CLOCKEVENTS_MIGR, so the check for it will always fail. Signed-off-by: Paul Bolle <pebolle@tiscali.nl> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
2011-09-08clockevents: Make minimum delay adjustments configurableMartin Schwidefsky1-0/+2
The automatic increase of the min_delta_ns of a clockevents device should be done in the clockevents code as the minimum delay is an attribute of the clockevents device. In addition not all architectures want the automatic adjustment, on a massively virtualized system it can happen that the programming of a clock event fails several times in a row because the virtual cpu has been rescheduled quickly enough. In that case the minimum delay will erroneously be increased with no way back. The new config symbol GENERIC_CLOCKEVENTS_MIN_ADJUST is used to enable the automatic adjustment. The config option is selected only for x86. 2010-07-27time: Kill off CONFIG_GENERIC_TIMEJohn Stultz1-2/+2
Now that all arches have been converted over to use generic time via clocksources or arch_gettimeoffset(), we can remove the GENERIC_TIME config option and simplify the generic code. 2008-10-16Kconfig: eliminate "def_bool n" constructsJan Beulich1-1/+0
Using "def_bool n" is pointless, simply using bool here appears more appropriate. Further, retaining such options that don't have a prompt and aren't selected by anything seems also at least questionable. 2007-10-12clockevents: Allow build w/o run-tine usage for migration purposesThomas Gleixner1-0/+5
Migration aid to allow preparatory patches which introduce not yet used parts of clock events code. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Arjan van de Ven <arjan@linux.intel.com>
2007-02-16[PATCH] hrtimers: add high resolution timer supportThomas Gleixner1-0/+10
Implement high resolution timers on top of the hrtimers infrastructure and the clockevents / tick-management framework. This provides accurate timers for all hrtimer subsystem users. 2007-02-16[PATCH] tick-management: dyntick / highres functionalityThomas Gleixner1-0/+15
With Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Add functions to provide dynamic ticks and high resolution timers. The code which keeps track of jiffies and handles the long idle periods is shared between tick based and high resolution timer based dynticks. The dyntick functionality can be disabled on the kernel commandline. Provide also the infrastructure to support high resolution timers.
